Bipolar Overbearing CEO (21)
Song Chubai shook his head, casting away the distracting thoughts in his mind, and then looked at Lu Chenhan.
Lu Chenhan happened to look back at him. Their eyes met, and both saw each other’s reflection in the other’s pupils.
Lu Chenhan’s heart softened. He raised a hand to ruffle Song Chubai’s fluffy hair, his voice carrying a low, husky undertone. “Be good, your body can’t handle it right now. Let’s talk about it in a few days.”
Song Chubai understood his meaning instantly. His earlobes turned red, and he turned his head away, dodging Lu Chenhan’s gaze.
At the same time, a small, soft-sounding hum escaped from the back of his throat.
After the two of them established their romantic relationship, they became even more uninhibited.
Lu Chenhan wished the entire world knew that he was in a relationship and had a boyfriend, so he even increased the frequency with which he attended business banquets.
It should be noted that Lu Chenhan had never attended such business banquets in the past because, in his view, he did not need such events to maintain interpersonal relationships.
Well, he didn’t really have many interpersonal relationships to begin with.
But things were different now. Wherever there was a business banquet, he would go, primarily to show off Song Chubai.
As a result, all the corporate executives at the business banquets were forced to swallow Lu Chenhan’s public displays of affection.
The look on Lu Chenhan’s face that clearly said “this is my boyfriend” made certain single bosses grit their teeth in envy.
Yet precisely because of this, in a rare turn of events, Lu Chenhan actually made some friends and even formed a strategic partnership with another company, creating a win-win situation.
Under Lu Chenhan’s leadership, the Lu Group grew stronger and more prosperous day by day, leaving even the previously restless board members with nothing to say.
Soothed by Song Chubai, Lu Chenhan’s emotions grew increasingly stable, and he even reduced his medication intake significantly.
However, to avoid inadvertently hurting Song Chubai, he still maintained a certain level of medication therapy. Although he felt it was largely useless, since science claimed it worked, he would reluctantly put his faith in science.
Days flowed by sweetly, and soon half a year passed in the blink of an eye.
On this day, Lu Chenhan was driving Song Chubai out to grab a meal when they happened to run into a traffic police checkpoint.
The traffic officer asked him to produce his driver’s license. Lu Chenhan casually turned to Song Chubai and said, “Chuchu, the driver’s license is in the glove compartment in front of you. Could you help me grab it?”
Song Chubai opened it and found a book wrapped in kraft paper.
Needing to find the license, he pulled the book out along with it and placed it on his lap. After finding the license and handing it over to Lu Chenhan, he casually closed the glove compartment and looked down at the book in his hands.
“What is this?” he asked curiously.
Lu Chenhan glanced over casually, vaguely remembering that it seemed to be something his grandmother had given him.
“Grandmother gave it to me,” he said. “Unwrap it and take a look.”
Song Chubai acknowledged with a hum and unwrapped the outermost layer of kraft paper.
Emblazoned across the cover were several large characters: 108 Techniques for Pursuing a Boyfriend.
This was a book on how to woo someone.
“Grandmother gave this to you?” Song Chubai flipped open the first page and began reading.
Lu Chenhan retrieved his driver’s license, tossed it aside into a storage slot, and glanced over toward Song Chubai, catching sight of those large characters.
He fell silent for a full second, his earlobes turning red for no apparent reason.
Why on earth would Grandmother give him something like this?
“There is nothing interesting in there,” Lu Chenhan said in a deep voice. “Stop reading it.”
If Chuchu read the whole thing, how was he supposed to practice pursuing him in the future?
Even though Chuchu was already his person now, having a little spice in daily life was always a good thing.
“Let me take a look,” Song Chubai said, flipping to the next page. “This feels really interesting.”
The traffic officer was urging them to move along, so Lu Chenhan had no choice but to start the car and drive forward.
Song Chubai continued holding the book, reading it and even reading the lines aloud.
“The first style of pursuing someone: Take the initiative.”
Lu Chenhan could not help thinking back to the past. Between him and Chuchu, who had taken the initiative first?
It was definitely Chuchu. He was the one who had said he liked him first.
Lu Chenhan curved the corners of his lips in satisfaction.
Song Chubai flipped further and read aloud, “The second style of pursuing someone: Make them accustomed to your presence.”
Lu Chenhan reminisced once more. Right from the start, when Chuchu had been his assistant, they had been inseparable, eating and living together. Wasn’t that making him accustomed to his presence?
That settled it. Chuchu had been the one to pursue him first.
Lu Chenhan let out a soft hum and said with a sense of complete fulfillment, “Chuchu, you were the one who pursued me first back then.”
Song Chubai turned his head in utter bewilderment.
Wasn’t he the one who had pursued Lu first?
He was the one who had made him his assistant, bound him to his side, and then made him accustomed to his presence.
Song Chubai blinked and continued flipping forward.
“The third style: Keeping a deliberate distance.”
Lu Chenhan frowned. Did he and Chuchu ever have a phase like that?
It seemed they never had.
Song Chubai realized this as well and spoke up almost simultaneously with Lu Chenhan, “There wasn’t this one.”
“There wasn’t this one.”
Both of them stopped at the same time.
Song Chubai shook the book in his hand and asked tentatively, “Shall we follow this rhythm then?”
Lu Chenhan pondered for two seconds and nodded. “Alright.”
He felt that whatever Grandmother had given them wasn’t bad; they could give it a try.
No sooner said than done, Song Chubai gave a light cough and said, “I am going to start keeping a deliberate distance now.”
Keeping a deliberate distance probably meant getting close for a moment and then pulling away, right?
He felt confident he could pull this off!
Lu Chenhan felt confident he could do it too.
Thus, for the next few days, both of them maintained a strange sort of tension. Whenever they wanted to get close, they would stop themselves right at that instant.
Song Chubai was fine with it, considering his waist was still aching, but Lu Chenhan was a different story entirely.
Every single time he looked at his Chuchu, he wanted to hold him and kiss him, but the thought of keeping a deliberate distance forced him to suppress the desire in his heart, turn his head away, and pretend to ignore Song Chubai.
Yet Song Chubai did not care in the least and went about his business as usual.
This drove Lu Chenhan to absolute distraction.
Three days later, Lu Chenhan finally reached his breaking point. He tossed that book titled 108 Techniques for Pursuing a Boyfriend into the darkest corner of the room, pinned Song Chubai against the wall, and planted a fierce kiss on his lips.
Song Chubai pressed both hands against Lu Chenhan’s chest and muttered vaguely, “Keeping a deliberate distance.”
“To hell with keeping a deliberate distance,” Lu Chenhan declared fiercely. “Chuchu is mine, and I am going to do delightful things with Chuchu.”
“That book must have been written by someone who couldn’t catch a boyfriend just to sabotage people who already have one.”
Lu Chenhan scooped Song Chubai up in his arms in one swift motion. “Chuchu, let’s not believe that nonsense.”
He carried him over to the bed and pressed his lips back onto his.
“We can just do whatever we like best.”
Song Chubai’s earlobes flushed slightly red. Wrapping both arms around Lu Chenhan’s neck, he softly murmured a quiet agreement.
Soon after, a harmonious melody began to echo through the bedroom.
