Сhарtеr 12: Fighting for the Cоntrаct Wife 12
“Whо’s number five?”
“Whо’s numbеr sеvеn?”
Nо оne аnswеrеd, and Shеn Jiaоjiao immеdiаtelу understооd.
Shе loоkеd down аnd sаw thаt shе wаs numbеr fivе.
Thеn number sеvеn…
“I’m number seven,” cаme Wеn Shanуi’s сооl voicе.
Shen Jiaоjiао рursed hеr lips аnd raised hеr glаss tо drink, but Хiаoуa beside hеr stорреd her.
“You cаn’t drink this rоund. Нehеhe. Jiаojiaо, уоu сan’t baсk оut now, cаn you? Веsidеs, it’s just а gamе. Nо one will take it seriously, right, еverуоnе?”
“Еvеryоne’s plaуing, Jiaоjiaо. We аgreed to let you leave earlier, but don’t spoil the fun now.”
Xiaoya and the others had completely blocked any escape route.
Shen Jiaojiao glanced at Wen Shanyi with a troubled and shy expression, her eyelashes fluttering like the wings of a butterfly.
Wen Shanyi felt a softness in his heart at her innocent little expression—how could it be so adorable?
He tilted his head back and downed his drink in one gulp, then picked up his jacket and stood. “Alright, you guys keep playing. I’m leaving too.”
Wen Shanyi took two steps, then looked back to see Shen Jiaojiao still frozen in place. He raised an eyebrow. “Not coming?”
Shen Jiaojiao didn’t dare look at him. She nodded hastily, then imitated him by taking a large gulp of the drink beside her. Afterward, she grabbed her small purse and followed him.
The drink tasted a bit off, but Shen Jiaojiao didn’t pay attention at the moment.
Even after leaving the private room, a chorus of teasing “Aiyo~” still echoed in her ears.
The tips of Shen Jiaojiao’s ears, hidden beneath her hair, felt warm—they were probably red.
She tightened her grip on her purse, her knuckles turning white. “I’m sorry, they always like to tease me.”
Wen Shanyi replied indifferently, “No need to apologize. It’s just a game.”
He seemed completely unfazed, which made Shen Jiaojiao breathe a sigh of relief.
The two entered the elevator together. For some reason, she was reminded of the awkwardness in the elevator that day and instinctively stood in the corner by the door, forming a diagonal angle with Wen Shanyi.
Seeing this, a faint shadow flickered in Wen Shanyi’s eyes.
Be more patient, Wen Shanyi.
The more you rush, the farther you’ll scare your prey away.
This time, it wasn’t as coincidental. From entering to exiting the elevator, it was just the two of them.
Whether it was the alcohol or the elevator ride, Shen Jiaojiao’s head began to feel dizzy, and her steps grew unsteady.
She turned and waved to Wen Shanyi. “Bye.”
Wen Shanyi nodded, his gaze fixed on her as she swayed step by step toward her car, then fumbled with her car keys.
After several attempts, the car door finally unlocked. Just as Shen Jiaojiao was about to sit in the driver’s seat, a large hand blocked the door.
“Jiaojiao, you can’t drive after drinking.”
Shen Jiaojiao repeated his words dizzily. “Oh, right. Can’t drive after drinking.”
She began searching for a designated driver’s number on her phone. Though her movements seemed orderly, her eyes were hazy, as if veiled by a layer of mist.
Wen Shanyi waited patiently behind her, unhurriedly messaging his driver to come over.
Within two minutes, a low-key but expensive-looking business car pulled up.
Only then did Wen Shanyi speak. “Jiaojiao, where are you heading? If it’s on the way, I can give you a ride.”
Shen Jiaojiao obediently replied, “I’m going to Huating.”
She used to live there alone.
A flicker passed through Wen Shanyi’s eyes. “Perfect, I’m heading that way too.”
Not long ago, he had bought the house next to Shen Jiaojiao’s.Wen Shanyi gestured for Shen Jiaojiao to get in the car. “Get in. Leave your car here for now. I’ll have my assistant drive it back to you tomorrow.”
Shen Jiaojiao’s mind felt heavy and sluggish. She nodded obediently, swaying slightly as she climbed into the car. When Wen Shanyi steadied her with a hand, she even murmured a soft “thank you.”
Wen Shanyi felt his heart melting.
How could she be so docile?
He wanted to devour her.
Suppressing the blazing heat in his eyes, Wen Shanyi quickly followed her into the car.
The partition rose, and the car drove smoothly out of the parking lot.
Shen Jiaojiao remained quiet and well-behaved the entire journey, sitting upright with her head resting against the seat as if she had fallen asleep. Her eyes only occasionally fluttered open, gazing dazedly out the window.
Wen Shanyi didn’t disturb her. Instead, he picked up his laptop and began working.
The distance to Huating was quite far from the city center, so Shen Jiaojiao slept peacefully for nearly an hour.
By the time the car stopped at her doorstep and Wen Shanyi opened the door for her, Shen Jiaojiao appeared completely normal, with no trace of drunkenness left.
Just as Wen Shanyi felt a pang of disappointment, Shen Jiaojiao suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and buried herself in his embrace.
“You’re back?”
Wen Shanyi’s first thought was that he had been mistaken for someone else.
Was Shen Jiaojiao mistaking him for Xie Yanqing?
Lowering his voice, Wen Shanyi replied, “Mm.”
Shen Jiaojiao nuzzled her head against him a few times and said softly, “My head feels so dizzy. Carry me inside, please.”
Wen Shanyi’s Adam’s apple bobbed. He bit the inside of his lip, the pain helping him suppress his overwhelming joy.
“Alright.”
Carefully, Wen Shanyi extended a trembling arm, slipped it beneath Shen Jiaojiao’s legs, and effortlessly lifted her in a princess carry.
She was so thin, light as a feather.
Yet, despite her slender frame, her figure was exquisitely graceful.
Wen Shanyi’s voice was gentle. “Jiaojiao, open the door.”
Shen Jiaojiao obediently entered the passcode. Wen Shanyi glanced casually at the string of numbers, committing them to memory.
Once inside, Wen Shanyi effortlessly carried Shen Jiaojiao with one arm and turned on the lights.
With just a cursory glance at the interior decor, he knew Xie Yanqing didn’t live here.
Good.
A faint smile curled Wen Shanyi’s lips. If Xie Yanqing didn’t know how to cherish this treasure, he couldn’t blame Wen Shanyi for stepping in.
The surveillance camera above the doorway flickered slightly. Wen Shanyi asked politely, “Jiaojiao, should I take you to your room?”
Shen Jiaojiao’s slender, pale arm swayed slightly, pulling Wen Shanyi’s neck down a little.
“Yes!”
“I can’t walk anymore.”
Only then did Wen Shanyi stride forward with his long legs, disappearing from the surveillance camera’s view.
The villas in this area were all fully furnished, so Wen Shanyi easily found the master bedroom. He gently laid her on the bed, adjusted the air conditioning temperature, and tucked the lightweight blanket around her.
He stood there for a moment, gazing down at her with lowered eyes, preparing to leave.
Though he wanted to stay, and though he was no saint, he wasn’t a lawless rogue either.
But a single soft plea of “Don’t go” shattered the defenses he had just built.
His eyes burning with heat, he turned back. “Don’t go?”
Shen Jiaojiao repeated, “Don’t go.”
Wen Shanyi leaned down, his eyes turbulent and unfathomably deep.
Morality had ceased to exist the moment he fell for Shen Jiaojiao and decided he would never let her go.
His kiss finally descended—fiery, fervent, and tinged with a madness that threatened to consume him.
Shen Jiaojiao responded gently, like a slowly flowing stream, effortlessly soothing Wen Shanyi’s blazing intensity.
In that moment of fulfillment, the corners of Wen Shanyi’s usually cool eyes flushed red, as if tears were about to fall.
Jiaojiao.
His Jiaojiao. If I never obtained it, that would be one thing. But now that I have it, I will use every means possible to treasure this precious gem forever!
