Chapter 20: Ch 20: New Construction Begins

Raising the Forgotten Snake Goddess with my Divine Faith System

"We are the helpers of the system. Nice to meet you."

"Tell us what to do and we will do it for you."

The ’help’ that Aiden had ended up buying turned out to be small dwarf-like creatures. They looked weak at first glance, but Aiden noticed how they were able to easily pick up boulders ten times their size without breaking a sweat.

Besides, if these were creatures provided by the system, he knew that he could trust them.

Currently, the leader of these dwarfs stood in front of Aiden with her small chest out and her workforce was scattered around, checking this place out.

"I would like to rebuild this place from scratch. But this time, I want it to incorporate unique technology. I have the information on what to do and how to do it. Do you think you can help me?"

Aiden asked and the dwarfs nodded.

"Leave it to us. You have hired the right people for the task. Our god’s blessing allows us to learn any technical skill at first glance. But don’t worry! We won’t add any of our god’s blessings or motifs while building this temple. We are professionals after all."

The head dwarf assured Aiden but it had not been a concern to him.

He had not even known that these dwarfs were followers of another god. But that made a lot of sense considering this world’s setting.

"I see. In that case, I will leave the construction in your hands. As for what I want, it’s this..."

Aiden spent nearly four hours explaining to the dwarfs what kind of ideas he wanted and how he needed it all to connect. He also handed the information about the modern conveniences over to the dwarfs who looked surprised by the information.

"We have not seen technology like this before. How fascinating. To be able to move water and other resources without the help of divine power or magic...it could be quite a useful trick."

This world had faith and gods, but not everyone was blessed the same way. Some people received a lot of love from their gods and thus, had a lot of power, while others did not even have a bit of it.

It all depended on one’s devotion and luck.

So to introduce a technology that did not rely on one’s luck and power was unheard of, but it had a lot of potential.

"Hmm, this task looks fun. Initially, I was going to ask for more money than we were paid for such a gigantic task, but the knowledge you have provided us more than makes up for it. However, the materials needed-"

"I will provide them, so there is no need to worry."

Aiden assured them and the dwarfs nodded and got to work. They quickly drew the blueprints of what they needed to work on and gave Aiden a material list.

He decided to buy the basic materials first from the system and slowly provide them over time. And the dwarfs looked impressed with his abilities even more.

"These materials we are working with are marvelous! I don’t think we can even find such stuff in our world. Where did you get it from? If you tell me, then I can give you a cut from my future commissions where I use it-"

"Unfortunately, it’s a divine secret I have sworn to protect with my life, so I cannot tell you. However, I can provide you with the raw material upon request...as long as you are willing to pay a certain price."

Aiden told the dwarfs and the head dwarf nodded with laughter.

"Of course. And I assume the insignia of your goddess comes with this?"

she asked and Aiden nodded.

"That’s a given. This is a divine secret, so how could it not have my goddess’s insignia?"

The insignia would allow his goddess’s influence to spread and she would be able to spread her presence to any place which had these new materials Aiden was providing the dwarfs with.

Suddenly, this deal looked even better than he had first expected and Aiden could not help but let out a smile as he watched the dwarfs work.

The first room they completed was his goddess’s quarters, just as he requested. They were sturdy and had temperature-controlling devices installed. Moreover, they had running water and other utilities installed as well.

The one thing Aiden had specially asked for was an electrical outlet. He did not intend to start using it, but it was nice to have it as an option for the future.

Once the day ended, Aiden decided to head back to sleep. He curled up on his newly bought bed while his goddess curled up in her soft, fur-lined bed beside his own. It was a successful day and there were more to follow.

The next morning, Aiden’s first task was to head to the village and gather the offerings made for him and then come back and watch the dwarfs work. That remained his routine for a whole week before something different happened.

At the dawn of the seventh day, Aiden got an unexpected visitor at his door.

It was a young woman, barely in her 30s, but she looked so ragged that it made her look ancient. She knocked at the door of the temple in the middle of the night and Aiden quickly headed out in order to stop her from waking up his goddess.

People often had a misconception that snakes were deaf, but they could hear perfectly fine with the help of vibrations. And currently, the person knocking at the door was surely going to wake his goddess up.

"Hey! Open up! I know you can hear me! I need you to help me-"

Aiden quickly opened the door and the woman almost fell face-first to the ground due to the door suddenly opening. But she held herself back at the last second and looked at Aiden with a clear look in her eyes.

"Can I help you with anything?"

Aiden asked the unknown woman and her eyes became hard and filled with anger all of a sudden.

"Yes! Please help me out! I need to take revenge against the people who have wronged me. I am here to pray to the goddess to help me do this."
