(Samuel's POV)
I walked up to the entrance to the bar near the center of the city, seeing the large sign at the top of the door.
It read "Moe's Cavern"
I didn't know Moe, so I had no idea why he would call a bar a cavern. It's not my business; I was just here to meet with someone.
I opened the door and walked through it, getting hit with the pungent smell of tobacco. The stench made me visibly recoil, but I immediately composed myself.
"Geez....." I muttered
Aside from the pungent scent of tobacco, the sound of rowdy men drinking was filling the air. I didn't find it that surprising that people were drinking in a bar this early in the morning; this was Nourenth. This is a city with a very profitable and notable alcohol exporting business.
I looked around the bar, seeing that there were many individuals who were wearing armor with dark and red colors. I noticed the bar counter, seeing a tall and muscular man with dark grey skin and a single curved horn jutting out of his forehead.
That was the bartender and he was a Demon Race member. Considering this was the Abaddon Kingdom, it wasn't too unusual to see a member of the Demon Race. They typically reside in the Northeastern Regions, close to the capital, so you don't see too many over by the Western Region.
I began to make my way towards the bar counter when a tall, muscular yet burly Orc got in front of me, towering over me as he had an ugly mug on his face. There was a prominent scar running down from his bald dome, cutting through his eye and down to his jaw.
I raised an eyebrow as he blocked my path, "Can I help you?" I asked, "Something on your mind?"
"Who the hell are you?" His voice was deep and gruff, a bit hoarse too, "And why are you here? The Bar is closed for a private event."
"I didn't see a sign up front." I said, "Moe should've thought of that."
"Well, we don't need a sign." He said seriously, "And I'm telling you now, so do yourself a favor, runt."
"And what's that?" I asked
"Fuck off." he said, glaring at me with his menacing green eyes, "Or it'll get ugly for you."
I looked at his outfit, it was a black and red coat that was tightly wrapped around his big frame. I noticed the prominent symbol of the Midnight Legion; a black shield with a horned skull that had red eyes inside it. He was hovering his hand over a large dagger that was strapped to his waist, almost as if wanted to pull it out and do something.
It didn't surprise me that they had such an ugly fucker in the Midnight Legion, but what surprised me was that they were so fucking stupid and brain-dead. Who in their right mind would even dare to threaten me?
"I ain't got nothing against our Kingdom's prestigious Legion members, they serve our Kingdom faithfully." I said, "But if an ugly fucker who represents them tries to do something, I would be compelled to fill him with holes. Make your move, big boy. Who's gonna be the quicker draw? Me or you?"
"Wanna find out?" He asked
"I don't need to." I said, "I already know it's me."
"You arrogant little-" He started
"Vorthuk!" a voice called out, "Fuck off, will ya? Do you know who it is?"
We both looked over to see a beautiful white-haired woman sitting down at one of the tables, smoking a cigarette.
She had a curvy body with tanned skin, wearing a tight cropped tank top that exposed her muscular and toned abs. Her large breasts were barely covered by the top, her cleavage was exposed. Her thick and muscular thighs were hidden by her baggy combat pants, but I knew their real appearance. She had a Legion coat draped over the back of her chair as she leaned back comfortably, her striking purple eyes looking at us.
The most notable feature of this woman was her fox ears, which were pure white in color, matching her ethereal hair. They were twitching slightly in response to some of the sounds that was in the background.
This was Kiyomi, my beloved Master. She was a Kitsune, a member of the Yokai Race that originated from the Sun and Moon Realm's Kazuha continent. She was also a member of the Midnight Legion; a very powerful one at that, I know her strength quite well.
"Kiyomi." The Orc said, "You know him?"
"Do I know him?" Kiyomi scoffed, "I wish I didn't. Do you know who it is, though?"
Vorthuk shrugged, "Am I supposed to?"
"That's Samuel Greyclaw, you lumbering oaf." Kiyomi said
"Greyclaw? The Hunters?" The Orc said as he stepped to the side
"That'd be the Family Name." I said, tipping my hat
"Wait, aren't you.....?" He said before gulping and stepping back, "You're related to Her."
"Ah." I said with a nod, "Yea, that's right."
"Hm...." He said, turning around and walking away
I looked to see that he walked to a table across the room and sat down, huffing and puffing angrily.
"Heh." I said before looking back at Kiyomi, "You look well, Master."
Kiyomi exhaled smoke, "Hey, kid." She said, "Been a while."
I nodded, walking over to her and sitting down, "A year and a half?" I said, "I've missed you."
"Ah, stop with the sentimental crap." She said, crossing her arms, "I gotta admit, you did grow more than the last time I saw you. Well, it was hard to tell since you were lying flat on your back....."
"Hm...." I said, "Yea, I was, wasn't I? But not in the way I wanted to, haha....I was recovering from wounds the Chromatic Chimera gave me, huh?"
She nodded, "Mhm..." She said, "What way did you wanted?"
I smirked, "You know."
"Don't be a stupid fool, Samuel." She said, "Did you inherit your lustful nature from your old man? I mean, he didn't strike me as such. But then again, he did have sex with your-"
"Ah, take it easy." I said, waving her off, "No need to remind me of the family scandals."
"Mhm." She said, "But you look well, I must admit. You've made a name for yourself in the Western Region, Samuel. Among the Hunters here, you're the most renowned. Although the other Hunter families across the Family see you as a whipper-snapper who can't live up to your Father and Grandfather's name."
"Fortunately, I don't give a fuck what they say or think of me." I said with a smirk
"You're here on a job?" She asked, "When you sent me that letter, I was rather confused as to why you would want me to join you."
"I've missed us." I said with a smile, "I miss us wandering the Region and hunting monsters."
"That was only done because your Father was suffering from the Green Hag's curse." She said, "I'm a soldier, not a Hunter."
"Hm...." I said, "I still miss being by your side."
"Yea, you were always a clingy brat." She exhaled smoke to the side, "But times have changed; you've grown. You don't need me."
"Ah, maybe." I said, "I did grow, however. Want me to show you?"
"Fuck no." She said with a scowl, "You think I don't know about your reputation? Just because I'm older than you doesn't mean I will be a prime target for your bullshit. No, go get someone else."
I chuckled, "I'm joking...sorta....." I said, "No, I asked to meet you to ask you some questions."
"It's about something I came across a few months back."
