In a shabby tavern within the slums.
The tattered front door was suddenly kicked open by a foot, jolting a drowsy Rom awake inside.
“Who is it?!
Are you here to cause trouble…
Oh, it’s Felt.” Rom chugged a mouthful of cheap beer in his hand and greeted her through bleary, drunken eyes.
Seeing Rom still chugging liquor while dead drunk, Felt put her hands on her hips and shouted discontentedly, “I say, Old Man Rom, stop drinking when you’re already like this!
You act like a total drunkard every single day.” “What’s wrong with an old man like me having a little drink at my age?
My body’s as tough as ever.” Rom didn’t care at all about Felt’s scolding.
He took another gulp of liquor and then asked, “Anyway, did you get the item?
This is an extra-large job this time.” At this moment, he had no idea what a massive surprise this blonde girl—whom he regarded as his own granddaughter—was about to bring him.
“Of course I got it.
Old Man Rom, do you still doubt my skills?” Felt dug into her pocket and pulled out a dazzling insignia.
The insignia was crafted entirely of gold, with a bright red gem embedded in its center, looking extremely luxurious.
“This is…” Rom paused his drinking.
His hand trembled, causing the glass to slip from his grip and shatter onto the floor with a crisp sound, spraying glass shards everywhere.
His originally groggy head instantly sobered up.
Holding the insignia in his hands, sweat dripped from his forehead.
This thing actually had the dragon crest of the Lugunica Royal Family on it!
Wasn’t this the Royal Selection Insignia?!
Though he was now just an old man guarding a shabby tavern in the town’s slums, Rom actually possessed a glorious past.
He was once a commander in the Demi-Human War, so he naturally knew many secrets unknown to ordinary people.
He understood the immense significance of this insignia better than anyone.
Rom’s expression turned serious.
He grabbed Felt’s shoulders and spoke in a solemn tone, “Felt, do you remember what the person who asked you to do this job looked like?” This was Felt’s first time seeing Rom so dead serious, making her feel a bit nervous.
“It was a black-haired woman.
Um…
she dressed pretty revealingly, and her clothes had purple patterns on them.
That’s about it.” Hearing Felt’s description, Rom’s face paled.
Clothes with purple patterns and black hair…
Damn it!
It’s the legendary Bowel Hunter!
He grabbed the wooden club leaning by the counter without hesitation and said gravely, “We have to leave quickly.
The woman trading with you is bad news.
We shouldn’t take this risk…” Bang!
The door that had just been closed a moment ago was kicked open, straining both of their nerves to the limit.
Without hesitation, Rom gripped the wooden club, vaulted over the counter, and charged toward the entrance.
The next second, the menacing club froze mid-air, caught effortlessly by a hand.
Then, that hand clenched tightly, and the wooden club was crushed, scattering splinters all over the floor.
“Hmm?
Not here yet?” A sudden male voice rang out.
Rom froze on the spot, holding the half-broken club, utterly bewildered.
A man?
The visitor isn’t the Bowel Hunter?
Whoosh!
Rom’s eyes bulged as a foot slammed into his abdomen.
He flew backward, crashing into a nearby wooden wall and falling unconscious on the spot.
Kenma pulled back his leg and shook off the remaining wood dust on his hand.
“You tried to smash my head with a club as soon as I stepped in.
Can’t we be courteous before resorting to force?” When Felt clearly saw the visitor’s face, she recognized him—he was the man who had caught her during her escape earlier, only to let her go.
However, Rom had been too fast—so fast that she didn’t even have time to shout a warning before the club was crushed and he was sent flying.
Seeing Rom unconscious, Felt panicked.
She immediately activated her Divine Protection of Wind and swiftly dashed to Rom’s side.
Upon realizing Rom was merely unconscious with steady breathing and pulse, Felt finally let out a sigh of relief.
She turned around, but just as she was about to speak, a hand chop struck the back of her neck.
Watching Felt collapse limply to the floor, Kenma casually tossed her beside Rom.
This way, there were no remaining obstacles in his path.
He walked over to the bar counter, plopped into a chair, crossed his legs onto the counter, and waited quietly for a certain person to arrive.
After a few minutes, feeling a bit bored from waiting, he grabbed a few bottles of liquor from the cabinet behind him and began inspecting them.
Hmm…
Can’t read this.
Uh…
Can’t read this one either.
Still can’t read this one!
Whatever, I’ll know once I taste it.
Pulling out the cork, he opened his mouth and chugged a large bottle in an instant.
“Cough, cough!
Damn it, this is so spicy!
No sweet aftertaste at all!
What kind of cheap booze is this?!” Kenma felt a burning sensation all the way from his throat to his stomach, but there was no comforting warmth—only a harsh taste of low-quality alcohol.
Just as he was about to try another liquor, he froze, turning his gaze toward the door that had been shut once again.
Looks like she’s here.
The door was pushed open and a black-haired woman stepped inside, her purple eyes scanning the surroundings.
“How did it go?
Did you get the item…
Oh my, it seems an unexpected change has occurred.” Her eyes quickly swept over Rom and Felt lying unconscious in the corner, and Elsa soon focused her attention on Kenma in front of the counter.
“Looks like someone beat me to it.
What are you doing here?” Holding the liquor bottle, Kenma adjusted his crossed-leg posture, put his feet back on the ground, and smiled.
“What else?
Waiting for you, of course.
Elsa, I’ve been waiting for you so agonizingly long.” As soon as he finished speaking, Kenma whipped his arm, hurling the booze bottle toward Elsa at the door at extreme speed.
Elsa held a dagger, slicing the bottle in half while dodging the splashing liquor, her lips curving into a dangerous arc.
“Then I am truly honored.
To have you wait for me for so long…
As a reward, I’ll let you see your own bowels.” “If you have what it takes, I’ll dig out my bowels myself to show you.” As those words left his mouth, the ground beneath Kenma’s feet shattered.
Turning into a speeding blur, he arrived right in front of Elsa and threw a punch.
