Kenma never expected that his save point would be so close, happening just one second before his suicide.

Thank goodness it wasn’t the exact moment he slashed his own throat.

But this way, the time cost of trial and error was pitifully small.Full novel: Re Zero: Dying Makes Me Stronger — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Quickly calming his emotions, a savage grin hung on the corners of Kenma’s mouth as he drew the greatsword from his waist and then kicked at the door in front of him.

Boom!

Powerful force erupted from his legs, and the resplendent doors were kicked flying by this strike, leaving the entrance wide open.

Kenma hoisted the greatsword onto his shoulder, swaggered inside, and looked around.

The surrounding area was packed with armored knights holding longswords, arranged in neat phalanxes, distributed throughout every part of the conference room.

Rather than a conference room, it was more like an extremely vast and magnificent imperial palace hall.

At the very front of the conference room was a high platform, where a group of old fogies sat upright and stern, watching Kenma with critical eyes.

The leading elder held a golden sceptre, dense white beard drooping down his chin, luxuriously dressed, looking solemn and majestic.

“What a unique entrance.

You must be the fifth royal selection candidate, Natsuki Subaru?” Kenma picked his ear and replied, “Yeah.” Seeing Kenma looking completely unbothered, the white-bearded elder frowned and was just about to speak when a fat old codger behind him suddenly piped up.

“However, as far as I know, the royal selection candidates are all Dragon Priestesses.

In other words, the candidates must all be female, yet you are a male.” “The Divine Dragon’s will has never proclaimed that it needs a Dragon Priest.

Natsuki Subaru, regarding this, what do you have to say?” Kenma blew on his fingers, lowered the greatsword from his shoulder, and thrust it into the ground.

“What the hell does that have to do with me?

Anyway, I can make the ruby glow.

Maybe the Divine Dragon’s tastes suddenly changed?

Instead of going to ask the Divine Dragon yourselves why it picked a guy, you come here to cross-examine me.

A bunch of idiots.” As soon as these words were spoken, the many elders on the stage were enraged.

The golden sceptre heavily struck the floor, producing a crisp sound that echoed throughout the entire hall.

“Impudent!

How dare you use such foul language in this place!

Weapons are not allowed in this meeting, why did you bring a sword inside?

Could it be that you intend to rebel?!” For a moment, the atmosphere in the entire hall became tense, and the surrounding knights placed their hands on the hilts at their waists, ready to launch an attack at any time.

Surrounded by countless killing intents in the center, Kenma merely twisted his shoulders, then pulled the greatsword out of the ground, pointing the blade directly at the dozen or so old things sitting high on the stage.

“Trying to slap labels on me, huh?

Come on, let me kill you stubborn old bastards until rivers of blood flow.” Kenma was never one to take grievances lying down.

With the dual cheats of infinite growth and Return by Death, if he still suffered grievances, wouldn’t that make him a complete pushover?

Anyway, he could use Return by Death, so he might as well have some fun first.

The terrifying murderous aura forged from dozens of deaths erupted, pressing down on the elders on the high platform like a heavy mountain.

These ordinarily lofty veterans of the Council of Wise Men, the moment they were truly locked onto by the killing intent of a powerhouse, revealed looks of shock and terror.

The leading elder struck the golden sceptre three times in succession, a hint of panic leaking into his tone as he issued his final command.

“Knights, hear my command!

This person is a spy, a Sin Archbishop of the Witch Cult, intending to subvert the Kingdom of Lugunica!

Quickly strike him down!

Leave no survi—” Kenma leaned backward, and the greatsword shot out from his hand, tearing through the air and charging straight forward.

Squelch!

Everyone watched in terror as the white-bearded elder was pinned to the wall, and the entire conference room instantly plunged into chaos.

“The elder is dead!” “This guy really is a Sin Archbishop!

Together, charge!

Defend our country!” “Damn it, I knew it.

How could a royal selection candidate could possibly be a male?

Defend the glory of the Kingdom of Lugunica!

Charge!” The knights drew their longswords and swarmed forward, fiercely swinging their blades toward the unarmed Kenma in the exact center of the conference room.

At this moment of being deeply surrounded, Kenma showed not a shred of panic.

His pitch-black hair fluttered without wind, and the excited smile on his face was fully revealed at this moment.

“That’s right.

A leisurely life or whatever.

Just serving as seasoning is enough.

This is how it should be.” The instant his voice fell, the ground beneath his feet shattered, and his entire body turned into a blurry afterimage, hurtling forward to deliver a punch into the oncoming crowd.

The knight rushing at the very front wore a look of terror, a chill shooting straight from the soles of his feet to his crown as he raised his shield to block.

However, the next second, the shield shattered with a crisp snap, and bursting open along with it was the knight’s skull.

Following closely behind, Kenma kicked out again, sending the knight’s headless corpse flying backward, knocking over all the charging knights behind him and causing the sounds of clashing metal to rise one after another.

He leaped high into the air, charging straight out of the knights’ encirclement and landing upon the high platform where the old fogies were located.

Kenma glanced sideways at the fat elder in front of him, his face stained with the blood sprayed from the knight moments ago, wearing a smile.

“Just now, you seemed to be shouting the loudest.

What, do you still think I’m a Sin Archbishop now?” “No… You are the orthodox royal selection candidate… Please don’t kill me…” Even the high-ranking veterans of the Council of Wise Men could not help but feel a primal fear under the overwhelmingly intense threat of death.

Hearing the other party’s pleading words, Kenma nodded in satisfaction, then leaned down and patted his somewhat bald head.

“That’s more like it.

Now you admit I’m the orthodox royal selection candidate?

If you had this kind of unwavering attitude just now when you falsely accused me of being a Sin Archbishop, then perhaps I would have spared you.” Finished speaking, he exerted force with all five fingers simultaneously.

Crack!

The old man’s entire body collapsed powerlessly to the ground, losing all vitality.

Kenma stepped over his corpse and strode up to the white-bearded elder pinned to the wall.

He raised his hand to pull out his greatsword.

Afterward, he leaped down from the high platform, landing in the exact center of the knights’ encirclement.

“Now, I have a sword in my hand, and you have swords in your hands too.

It’s fair—then let’s slaughter each other.”
