All the creatures in the miniature sandbox looked up at the colossal being that descended from the skies, their eyes filled with fear of the unknown.

The sky itself seemed to darken under his presence.

Rex stood silently above them, his towering figure casting a shadow so vast that it swallowed the land beneath him.Full novel: Reality Reset: The Sandbox Sovereign — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The winds grew unstable, swirling around his body as if the world itself struggled to endure his existence.

Below, chaos had already begun to settle.

But fear- Fear was clearly visible in their eyes.

His gaze shifted slowly toward the dominant species.

Even now, they moved restlessly across the plains, their instincts screaming at them to hunt, to devour and to dominate.

They had no understanding of what had just appeared above them.

To them- It was simply another threat.

For a brief moment- Rex hesitated.

Not because he doubted his power.

But because he understood what this meant.

This was no longer observation.

This was interference.

This was… control.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Then, without another thought, he lifted his foot.

From below, the sky vanished.

A shadow fell over the dominant species.

They looked up in confusion.

Then- The impact came down.

The ground trembled violently.

A deafening sound erupted as Rex’s foot came down, crushing everything beneath it.

The earth split, dust exploded into the air, and the dominant species- those who once ruled without restraint- were erased in an instant.

No struggle or resistance was seen.

Only annihilation was the result regardless of any action.

The shockwave spread outward, flattening the surrounding terrain.

The once-dominant hunters were gone as if they had never existed.

Silence followed after the shockwave.

A heavy, suffocating silence permitted through the air.

The remaining creatures froze like lifeless statues.

Some collapsed to the ground, unable to control their legs.

Others trembled uncontrollably.

Even the wind seemed to hesitate.

Rex slowly lifted his foot.

Nothing remained there.

His gaze shifted.

Toward the north.

At the small group.

They stood huddled together among the hills, their bodies shaking.

Some hid behind rocks.

Some lay motionless, pretending to be dead.

Others clung to one another, their instincts screaming for survival.

But among them- One stood with what little courage he had.

A boy.

He was small and weak but his stance was unmoving.

His body trembled, but he did not look away.

Fear was screaming from his terrified eyes.

But so was something else.

Anger and defiance towards his weakness.

Rex observed him for a moment.

“…Interesting.” Slowly, he bent down.

The ground cracked beneath the pressure of his movement.

The air shifted as his massive form descended.

Carefully- He extended a single finger.

The boy tried to step back.

But it was too late.

Rex lifted him gently.

To Rex, it was effortless.

To the boy- It felt like being taken by the sky itself.

The rest of the group froze completely.

No one dared to more or speak, even breathing became a gift at that moment.

They could only watch.

“Alice” Rex spoke calmly, his voice resonating like distant thunder across the land, “now that I have eliminated the dominant species, what are the chances of this group’s survival?” [IF THE HOST DOES NOT INTERFERE FURTHER, SURVIVAL PROBABILITY INCREASES TO 83%.] [HOWEVER, THEY WILL EVOLVE INTO A DIFFERENT SPECIES THAN HUMANS.] Rex nodded slightly.

“…So even now, the path is not fixed.” His gaze fell upon the boy in his hand.

“Activate translation ability.” [DING.

TRANSLATION ABILITY ACTIVATED.] The moment it activated- Voices flooded his ears.

His hearing covered the entire land.

Cries, whispers and even fear, he heard them all clearly.

He understood their emotions.

And then- The boy’s voice.

“You beast!

Let me go!” His small body struggled, his fists striking against Rex’s skin as if it would make any difference.

“How dare you bully us with your size?!

The heavens will punish you!” Rex raised an eyebrow slightly.

“…The heavens?” There was a hint of curiosity in his voice.

“And why would the heavens punish me?” “I just saved your tribe.” The boy froze in his movements.

His struggles stopped but still full of vigilance.

“…Saved us?” His voice was no longer filled with anger.

It carried doubt and confusion towards his claims.

Instead of answering, Rex slowly lowered his hand.

He turned slightly and revealed the plains.

The place where the dominant species once ruled.

Now- There was nothing.

Only crushed land and destroyed surroundings.

Silence filled the moment.

The boy’s eyes widened.

His breathing grew uneven and hurried.

“If… if you hadn’t…” Rex’s voice remained calm.

“They would have wiped you out.” The boy fell silent again.

The truth was undeniable.

His body trembled, but his gaze slowly changed.

Fear remained in his eyes but he begun to think, to understand.

Rex studied him for a moment.

He looked at his expression.

Then spoke again.

“What is your name?” The boy blinked in confusion.

“…Name?” Rex paused, “You don’t have one?” The boy shook his head slowly.

“What is a name?” For a moment, Rex said nothing.

He began to ponder.

Then- “A name,” he said slowly, “is a sound used to identify yourself.” “It allows others to call you… to recognize you… to remember you.” The boy listened quietly.

“It separates you from others.” Rex’s gaze deepened.

“It is also the beginning of something greater.” “…Greater?” “Civilization.” The boy frowned slightly.

“What is civilization?” Rex looked at him, his voice steady yet carrying a subtle weight.

“Civilization is strength.” “It is when a species rises above instinct.” “When it begins to think… to learn… to create.” “It is not the strength of one individual…” “…but the strength of everyone gathered into one.” The boy fell silent.

The words were unfamiliar and too much to understand at once.

Yet- Something within him responded, like an instinct.

Rex observed his reaction carefully.

Then, a faint smile appeared on his face.

“Since I have met you…” “I will give you a name.” The boy’s eyes widened.

Rex’s voice echoed softly, yet carried an undeniable authority.

“From this moment…” “You will be called- Aren.” The word spread across the land like a ripple.

The wind carried it far and wide.

The earth seemed to remember it and shook in response.

The boy froze.

“A…ren…” He repeated it slowly.

It felt strange.

Yet… right.

Rex nodded.

“That is your name.” A faint spark appeared in the boy’s eyes.

Something new appeared in them.

Something that had never existed before, Identity.

Around them, the others watched in silence.

They did not understand the meaning of what had just occurred.

But they felt it too.

Something had changed, not only in Aren but within them as well.

Rex slowly lowered his hand.

Carefully placing Aren back onto the ground.

The boy stumbled slightly as he landed.

But he did not fall, instead he looked up.

At the giant, att the being who had destroyed… and given them future.

Fear remained within them but it was not the only thing that was seen.

There was curiosity and recognition.

Rex straightened slowly.

The sky trembled at his every movement.

Clouds shifted as if making way for his presence to shine.

“Your survival,” Rex said, his voice echoing across the hills, “will depend on what you do next.” “I will not guide you forever.” The words lingered in the air.

Those words carried a heavy and meaningful insights.

Like an irresistible rule.

Aren clenched his fists slightly.

Though he did not fully understand- He remembered.

Rex’s gaze lingered for a moment longer.

Then- His figure began to fade.

Light scattered around him.

The pressure began to fade and the sky brightened.

Before disappearing completely, Rex spoke once more.

“…Let’s see how far you can go.” And then- He was gone.

The world fell silent once again.

For a long moment, no one moved.

Even the leaves of the numerous tress were still.

Then slowly- The others turned toward Aren.

Their eyes filled with questions.

Aren looked down at his hands.

“…Aren.” He whispered it again.

Then looked up at the sky, where the giant once stood.

Something had changed.

Not just in the world- But within him.

Back in reality, Rex opened his eyes slowly.

The sunlight filtered through the leaves above him.

The sound of the lake reached his ears.

Calm and peaceful air touched his face.

For a moment, he said nothing.

Then a faint smile appeared on his lips.

“…Interesting.” He raised his hand slightly, looking at it.

“As expected… evolution alone is not enough.” His eyes sharpened slightly.

“…now begins civilization.”
