The next day, Shen Biqian returned to the small grove.

This time, however, she did not cultivate.

Instead, she chatted with Su Jianmo while quietly waiting for the arrival of the demonic beasts.Full novel: **Rebirth: Counterattack of the Apocalypse** — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Roar!”

A familiar roar echoed faintly through the distance.

Shen Biqian immediately sprang to her feet.

Su Jianmo rose with her and looked toward the source of the sound.

“What was that?”

“Demonic beasts.”

As she spoke, Shen Biqian rolled up her pant leg and pulled out the dagger she had long since strapped there.

“Let’s go. Time to test the results of my cultivation these past few days.”

Su Jianmo’s eyebrows twitched uncontrollably as he watched her remove a dagger from her leg.

“You carry a dagger with you?”

As she ran, Shen Biqian replied,

“Of course. Anything that can save my life belongs on my body!”

They rushed out of the grove.

Everywhere they looked, students were screaming and running for their lives.

Without slowing down, Shen Biqian followed the sound until she saw a demonic beast gripping a person in its claws, about to stuff him into its mouth.

She poured spiritual energy into the dagger and hurled it with all her strength at the beast’s head.

“Help! Help me!”

The victim cried and struggled desperately.

His resistance meant nothing to the beast.

Just as it was about to swallow him, the beast suddenly let out a painful roar.

Its massive body swayed, and it dropped the human from its grasp.

Its blood-red eyes scanned the crowd, searching for the insignificant human who had dared injure it.

Meanwhile, Shen Biqian accelerated forward.

When she reached the beast, she leaped into the air, using the momentum of her sprint to deliver a vicious kick.

The beast staggered a few times before crashing heavily to the ground.

Shen Biqian shook her slightly numb leg and calmly walked toward the fallen beast.

It glared at her and let out weak growls.

Ignoring it, she reached down to pull out the dagger embedded deep in its skull.

She expected it to be difficult.

Using all her strength, she yanked hard.

The force nearly sent her stumbling backward onto the ground.

Speechless, she stared at the dagger handle in her hand.

Only the handle remained.

Looking back at the beast’s wound, she saw that the blade had shattered inside its skull.

“No way…”

“This dagger cost me several thousand yuan, and it broke after one use?”

A smug voice sounded in her mind.

“You should be grateful.”

“What do you think spiritual energy is? You humans make crude, inferior tools. Did you really think they could withstand spiritual energy being infused into them?”

“The fact that it lasted one attack instead of exploding immediately is already giving you face.”

Shen Biqian’s face darkened.

“Then what am I supposed to do in the future?”

“Fight hand-to-hand against beasts several times my size with skin tougher than armor?”

“That’s your problem.”

The corner of Shen Biqian’s eye twitched.

“Since you’re living inside my body, shouldn’t you at least pay some rent?”

“Didn’t I already give you the Five Elements Art?”

Shen Biqian instantly had nothing to say.

The voice lazily continued:

“Strange. These are the lowest-level beasts of the Demon Realm. How did they end up in the Human Realm?”

If I knew, why would I ask you?!

Seeing the countless expressions flashing across Shen Biqian’s face, Su Jianmo asked worriedly,

“Are you alright?”

She shook her head.

His expression grew serious.

“Where did these demonic beasts come from?”

“I don’t know.”

Shen Biqian walked forward and kicked the still-breathing beast’s head.

Boom!

Its skull exploded instantly.

“Let’s go. See if there are any others.”

The man she had rescued sat limply on the ground, his entire body weak with fear.

Seeing that they were about to leave, he hurriedly called out:

“Thank you! I… can I come with you?”

Shen Biqian looked at him.

“You should hurry back to your dormitory. Don’t come outside unless absolutely necessary.”

Back-to-back, Shen Biqian and Su Jianmo stood surrounded.

From every direction, demonic beasts poured toward them.

There were six in total.

The sight instantly reminded Shen Biqian of the final moments before her death in her previous life.

Her face turned pale.

Yet her eyes burned with reckless madness.

Suddenly, a technique flooded into her mind.

“Do it according to this!”

Wood Binding!

Shen Biqian opened her eyes and smiled.

Thank you.

“Su Jianmo, in a moment, try your best to channel wood-element energy into my body.”

He did not ask why.

Nor did he hesitate.

“Alright.”

Shen Biqian steadied her breathing and silently recited the incantation.

She desperately mobilized all the spiritual energy within her body.

Suddenly, a green whip emerged from her palm.

It grew longer and longer.

“Go!”

The green whip shot away from her hand and rushed toward the nearest beast.

Countless vines instantly wrapped around the creature’s massive body.

The beast roared and struggled.

Shen Biqian smiled coldly.

“Wood Binding!”

At her command, the green bindings tightened relentlessly.

The beast howled in agony.

Then—

BOOM!

Its entire body exploded.

Blood and flesh sprayed in every direction.

The green vines dissolved into countless green specks that slowly vanished into the air.

Perhaps because the beast’s death had been too horrific, the remaining beasts hesitated.

Though they possessed little intelligence, their animal instincts remained.

They knew how to avoid danger.

Their blood-red eyes stared greedily at Shen Biqian and Su Jianmo, yet none dared approach.

Thunderous roars echoed all around them.

Shen Biqian’s face was pale.

Wood Binding was the technique that mysterious voice had just transmitted to her.

Its power was extraordinary.

Unfortunately, its spiritual energy consumption was equally terrifying.

With her current cultivation level, she could use it at most one more time.

“You alright?” Su Jianmo asked.

“My spiritual energy can only support one more use.”

Originally, she had planned to kill several beasts herself and then have Su Jianmo transfer additional wood-element energy to her once she ran low.

She hadn’t expected Wood Binding to consume so much spiritual energy.

She sighed.

“Forget it. Let’s prepare for close combat.”

Su Jianmo clenched his fists.

At a moment this dangerous, he actually needed a woman to protect him.

A cold expression appeared on his handsome face.

Looking at the green specks of wood-element energy floating around him, he said:

“Rest for a while.”

“I’ll handle this.”

Shen Biqian thought for a moment and nodded.

“Alright.”

Her condition truly wasn’t good.

Recovering her spiritual energy was the most important thing right now.

“Be careful.”

“Mm.”

The demonic beasts’ patience seemed to have finally run out.

One of them let out a furious roar and charged forward.

Su Jianmo stepped in front of Shen Biqian and controlled the surrounding wood-element energy, hurling it fiercely at the beast.

The beast roared in pain and crashed heavily to the ground, leaving a trail of blood as it tumbled.

At that moment, the remaining beasts seemed completely enraged.

Four of them roared and charged at once.

Shen Biqian gritted her teeth.

“Two each!”

With those words, she mobilized the last remnants of spiritual energy within her body and leaped into the air.

She kicked one of the beasts rushing toward her.

This time, however, it merely staggered instead of falling.

The beast immediately swung its sharp claws at her.

Shen Biqian barely managed to dodge.

Gathering all of her remaining spiritual energy into her fist, she slammed a punch into the beast’s enormous head.

Her fist struck the hard, shell-like armor protecting its skull.

The impact numbed her entire hand, leaving it so painful that she could no longer feel it.

The beast swayed for a moment before finally collapsing heavily to the ground.

Before she could even catch her breath, she sensed danger behind her.

Spinning around, she narrowly avoided another set of claws.

But she was already exhausted and running on empty.

The beast’s razor-sharp claws still managed to rake across her back, leaving several bloody wounds.

Gritting her teeth against the searing pain, she spun her body one hundred and eighty degrees and delivered a beautiful spinning kick.

After landing the kick, however, she crashed heavily onto the ground.

Turning her head, she glanced at Su Jianmo.

His situation wasn’t much better.

There was very little wood-element energy left around him that he could still draw upon.
