Wei Guangming could not accept his crippled state. Enraged, he threw a violent tantrum in the hospital. Anything within reach—whether it could be smashed or not—was smashed.

He had assumed someone would clean up after him, but today, that didn’t work anymore.

A nurse entered with a cold face and scolded him harshly.Full novel: Rebirth in the ’70s: My Info System Refreshes Every Day — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She warned him to behave. If he didn’t want to stay in the hospital, then he could go to the detention center instead. Did he really think he was some kind of good person?

Did he not know why he had been castrated? Did he not know whose good girl he had ruined and how he had been retaliated against?

Serves him right.

Wei Guangming was so furious he nearly exploded. He pointed at himself and shouted, “Do you know who I am? Do you know who my father is?”

“I do,” the nurse replied with an eye roll. “Your father is Wei Chunsheng, former deputy director of the machinery factory.”

She just happened to be on duty that day, and her family had some background. She knew Wei Chunsheng had already been arrested and would not be coming back out.

Since he wasn’t coming out, he no longer held any power. Trying to use the identity of a deputy director’s son to bully people? That wasn’t going to fly.

“What did you say?” Wei Guangming thought he had misheard. Former deputy director?

“Oh? So everything I just said went in one ear and out the other?” the nurse sneered.

That mocking smile cut deep. Wei Guangming’s anger flared again. He pointed at her and started cursing, warning her to keep her eyes open and not offend people she couldn’t afford to offend.

There are some people a little nurse like her simply can’t afford to offend.

The nurse only laughed harder. Without engaging him further, she turned and called over public security officers.

“Look at him—he’s perfectly energetic. There’s no need for hospitalization. Take him away. Trash belongs in the trash heap.”

“What do you mean?” Wei Guangming still hadn’t understood what was happening. When he saw the officers approach, he quickly asked, “What are you doing?”

The nurse’s mockery deepened. The officers were already here—what else could it mean?

Of course. Arrest.

Even when his hands were cuffed, Wei Guangming still didn’t understand. Why? What was going on?

The officer gave him a deep look and said calmly, “Once you’re in there, you’ll understand everything.”

Wei Guangming: I’m not that interested in understanding anymore.

At noon, Lu Qingqing was woken by loud knocking at the door. She yawned widely, rubbed her eyes, and slowly sat up.

She stared blankly for three seconds before the shouting outside snapped her awake.

“Who is it?” she checked her watch—already past one in the afternoon. Who would come looking for her at this hour?

She quickly got dressed, combed her hair, and strode out.

“Lu Qingqing! Are you dead? Open the door!”

That voice…

She thought for a moment and quickly remembered. It was Ye Lingxi, Wei Guangming’s little mistress in her past life.

Damn it. A green-tea scheming woman.

“Lu Qingqing, are you sleeping yourself to death?”

Before she could finish, the door opened. Lu Qingqing stood there coldly, staring at her. Her fists tightened.

“Lu Qingqing, why did you take so long? Don’t you know something happened to Brother Guangming?”

“If something happened to him, go find his father. Why are you looking for me?” Lu Qingqing rolled her eyes, tone unfriendly.

“Uncle Wei is also gone. I don’t know what happened. I’ve asked everywhere but couldn’t find out.”

Ye Lingxi ignored her expression and continued:

“You have connections in the Lu family. Please, help Brother Guangming, okay?”

Lu Qingqing let out a cold laugh. “Ye Lingxi, what exactly are you to him? And why should I help you?”

“I… I’m just his good friend,” Ye Lingxi stammered. “Aren’t you… aren’t you—”

“Not what?” Lu Qingqing sneered. “Don’t say I’m his girlfriend. We’re not even there yet.”

“I’m not careless about marriage. My parents haven’t agreed—I would never casually date someone.”

“Unlike some people, who can’t be seen in the light of day, always doing shady things behind people’s backs.”

Her gaze fell directly on Ye Lingxi’s face, as if saying: yes, that’s you.

Ye Lingxi understood immediately and burst into tears from anger. She hadn’t expected Lu Qingqing to be so harsh.

“You’re going too far! Brother Guangming treats you so well!”

“Stop right there,” Lu Qingqing interrupted. “Don’t talk nonsense. What do you mean he treats me well?”

“If I remember correctly, the clothes you’re wearing were bought by him, right?”

“And those little leather shoes on your feet—also his money, right?”

“He treats you so well, so why don’t you go save him?”

“What, only good at talking but not acting? You’re really a giant in speech and a dwarf in action.”

“I didn’t! That’s not true!” Ye Lingxi’s eyes reddened. “Brother Guangming and I are innocent! Nothing happened between us!”

“Oh yes, absolutely innocent,” Lu Qingqing said sarcastically. “So innocent that you wear his clothes, use his face cream, hold hands, maybe even kiss.”

“As long as you didn’t go to bed together, you’re innocent, right? You two are just so innocent.”

Her disgust was obvious.

Ye Lingxi, trembling with anger, stamped her feet and ran away crying, unable to argue back.

Lu Qingqing watched her leave thoughtfully.

Still hasn’t found out that Wei Guangming became impotent?

Should she tell her? No—let her figure it out herself.

In this life, since she had exposed the Wei family as spies early, she wondered who would take the blame.

Maybe Wei Guangming’s family could still get out, but life would definitely be worse. And Wei Chunsheng might still have hidden assets somewhere.

She would have to keep an eye on them after they got out—whatever the Wei family had left behind, she would take it all.

As for Grandpa and the others in the Revolutionary Committee, she decided to go check on them. If possible, she would bring them some food.

After washing up and cooking some dishes, Lu Qingqing packed a lunchbox and headed out. Along the way, she could feel someone watching her from behind.

Let them watch.

She would watch them back later and strip their house bare.

Anyone who dared target the Lu family would pay for it—none would be spared.

At the Revolutionary Committee, Zhang Shan and Huang Ergou were not there. After slipping in some money, she finally managed to see her family.

After one night, their injuries had not worsened, suggesting those two had been delayed.

She handed over the food without saying much in front of outsiders.

Seeing her nephews and nieces’ dirty little faces, she felt a pang of pain.

She looked at the commissioner guarding them and asked, “Can I take my nephews and nieces out?”
