“Oh my god! Mingxuan, your face!”

The miserable scream immediately attracted Zhao Yaqin from downstairs. Clicking in on her high heels, she rushed into the bedroom. The moment she saw the mess on the floor and Song Mingxuan clutching his face in agony, she sucked in a sharp breath.

“Lin Qi, are you crazy?! That was freshly boiled soup!”Full novel: Rebirth in the Apocalypse: I Lay Low with Billions in Supplies — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Zhao Yaqin hurriedly helped up her future son-in-law before turning toward Lin Qi with a savage glare.

“You damn girl, are you possessed?! Hurry up and apologize to Mingxuan!”

Lin Qi stood where she was, casually picking up a pair of eyebrow scissors from the vanity table and idly twirling them between her fingers.

The sharp blades reflected a chilling gleam.

“Apologize?”

Lin Qi slowly raised her eyes. Those eyes, tempered by five years of slaughter in the apocalypse, were deathly silent and ice-cold, carrying a terrifying brutality that made one’s scalp go numb.

“Say one more word, and I’ll shove these scissors into his other eye.”

Zhao Yaqin was instantly intimidated by the tangible killing intent radiating from her body. She shuddered violently, her throat tightening as if someone were strangling her. Not another curse could leave her mouth.

Was this really the weak and submissive stepdaughter she used to manipulate at will?!

“Get out.”

Lin Qi pointed toward the door, her voice completely emotionless.

“You… just wait for me!”

Zhao Yaqin only knew how to bully the weak. Terrified that this lunatic might actually kill someone, she quickly dragged the nearly unconscious Song Mingxuan out of the bedroom and fled toward the hospital in panic.

Bang!

Lin Qi locked the bedroom door behind them.

Only after the room finally fell silent did she slump weakly against the door, breathing heavily.

When she had smashed the porcelain bowl earlier, one of the fragments had sliced open her palm. Blood trickled through her fingers and dripped onto the jade pendant hanging from her neck—the heirloom her mother had left her.

Suddenly, something strange happened!

After absorbing the blood, the jade pendant burst forth with dazzling white light, instantly swallowing Lin Qi whole.

Lin Qi instinctively shut her eyes.

When she opened them again, the luxurious bedroom had vanished.

In its place was a vast, endless world made entirely of pure white-gray mist!

“This is… a spatial ability?!”

Lin Qi’s heartbeat thundered wildly.

In her previous life, during the later stages of the apocalypse, she had heard rumors that a tiny number of top experts had awakened supernatural powers.

Among them, the rarest were spatial abilities!

She never expected the relic left behind by her mother to actually be a portable storage space!

Suppressing her excitement with great difficulty, Lin Qi focused her thoughts and instantly returned to the bedroom.

To verify the properties of the space, she quickly headed downstairs into the kitchen.

The housekeeper, Wang Ma, wasn’t around. On the stove sat a freshly steamed basket of soup dumplings, still piping hot.

Lin Qi picked up one steaming dumpling. With a flicker of thought, the dumpling instantly disappeared from her hand and entered the space.

She paced anxiously around the kitchen, staring fixedly at the clock on the wall.

Tick. Tock.

An entire hour passed.

“Come out,” Lin Qi silently commanded.

The next second, the soup dumpling reappeared in her palm.

It was still scorching hot!

Even the thin wisp of steam curling from the top remained frozen in the exact same shape it had one hour earlier when it entered the space!

“Absolute stasis! Infinite preservation!”

Lin Qi’s eyes reddened with excitement as she tightly gripped the dumpling.

This meant that if she stored a freshly cooked piece of braised pork inside, it would still be steaming hot ten years later. If she put in a popsicle, it wouldn’t melt even after a hundred years!

With this godlike cheat ability, she would be able to eat the freshest and hottest food forever in this resource-starved apocalypse!

Just as Lin Qi’s emotions surged, an icy mechanical voice suddenly echoed inside her mind.

【Ding! Detected that the host possesses an extreme survival instinct and has activated a spatial carrier.】

【The Doomsday Fortress System is now binding… 10%… 50%… 100%!】

【Binding successful! This system is designed to assist the host in constructing an absolutely invincible fortress amidst natural disasters.】

【Current Fortress Level: Lv0 (No fixed residence). Please establish a property as your initial base as soon as possible to unlock the upgrade route!】

Lin Qi froze for a moment before a wild smile slowly spread across her lips.

Heaven had not only allowed her to be reborn.

It had not only given her an infinite storage space.

It had even gifted her a fortress system!

She would reclaim every ounce of suffering and freezing torment she endured in her previous life—with interest!

In this cannibalistic apocalypse, she would build a paradise fortress that not even nuclear bombs could break through!

“Upgrading the fortress…疯狂 hoarding supplies…”

Lin Qi bit into the piping-hot soup dumpling in her hand. Rich broth exploded across her tongue.

But whether it was buying supplies or building a fortress, they both required one thing—

Money.

And not just a little money, but hundreds of billions!

Lin Qi walked back into the living room, picked up the tablet on the table, and pulled up the list of assets under her name.

After her father died in a car accident, he left behind 60% ownership of the city’s largest supermarket chain, Lin Corporation Department Stores, as well as two standalone villas worth over a hundred million each.

These were the very pieces of fat meat Zhao Yaqin and Song Mingxuan had coveted for years.

“You want my money? Fine.”

A cruel glint flashed through Lin Qi’s eyes as she directly dialed the number of the city’s largest underground black-market asset broker.

“Hello, Brother Long? This is Lin Qi.”

“I want to sell all my shares in Lin Corporation, along with the two villas and three supercars under my name. No questions asked. I only accept cash or transfers to anonymous overseas accounts.”

“As long as you can get me the money within three days, I’ll cut you a five-hundred-million-yuan profit margin.”

The person on the other end sucked in a sharp breath.

After hanging up, Lin Qi gazed out at the still-busy and prosperous city beyond the window, her eyes as cold as blades.

Countdown:

29 days, 23 hours.

The crazy accumulation of wealth and massive sweep for supplies had officially begun!
