Ahem.

“Pretty sister, what are you doing here?” Wen Qi interrupted the bittersweet moment between the siblings.

When Bai Zhi saw Wen Qi, she immediately stood up in excitement. “It really was you who saved my brother, right?!”Full novel: Rebirth in the Apocalypse: The Little Vixen Wants Hugs and Kisses — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Without caring about the murderous look in Jian An’s eyes, Bai Zhi gently pulled Wen Qi into her arms. “Thank you, little sister.”

Bai Mu also bent slightly and expressed his gratitude. “Thank you.”

Jian An immediately pulled Wen Qi back into his arms. You can thank her, but don’t hug her. Didn’t you see I’m still here?

Bai Zhi raised an eyebrow. “Tch. Not even a hug allowed?” This guy’s possessiveness is seriously intense.

Wen Qi returned to Jian An’s arms, paused for a moment, then buried herself deeper into his chest.

Alright then. Pretty sister is nice… but still not as good as my smell-good Jian An (づ ̄3 ̄)づ

Bai Zhi: “……”

Fine. This little sister is also clearly someone who willingly sticks to her person.

“Um… can my condition be restored?” Bai Mu asked quietly. Even though his current state made him stronger, having no human arms still made him feel neither human nor ghost.

“I don’t know,” Wen Qi replied honestly. “It depends on you. They said only consciousness can be restored.”

The third rule of the spirit race: leave humans with hope.

Jian An tightened his hold on her. His baby was too kind.

“Brother, that means there’s still hope!” Bai Zhi quickly added. “Maybe you can switch between forms like Spider-Man!”

Bai Mu’s eyes lit up with determination. “Right. I’ll work hard.”

Wen Qi took out the key Lan Xin had given her earlier. “We still need to save the others.”

Jian An naturally carried her again and walked toward the next location.

“Wait, I’ll go with you,” Bai Zhi said quickly. “Those people… they might say something hurtful to her!”

Jian An thought for a moment. She might be useful, so he didn’t refuse.

When they reached the cells—

“Lan Xin, we’re free!” Bai Zhi called excitedly through the door.

Jian An inserted the key and unlocked it.

Lan Xin, heavily pregnant, immediately grabbed the bars. “Really? Really?! Are they dead?!”

Tears streamed down her face. Freedom… was she really getting freedom?

“Yes! Those bastards are dead!” Bai Zhi confirmed.

“Thank you… thank you so much!” Lan Xin sobbed.

But in the corner, several other pregnant women panicked.

“What?! They’re dead? What do we do now?”

“What are we going to eat?”

“How did they kill those people?!”

Without their “protectors,” they suddenly felt terrified. In this apocalypse, how could powerless women survive?

“Do you still want to be someone’s breeding tool?!” Lan Xin said angrily.

“So what if we did? At least we had food and clothes! It’s just trading one body!”

“Exactly! In the apocalypse, who knows what happens anyway!”

“You killed them—did you ever think about us?!”

“Then give us protection instead!”

Their logic twisted into something disturbingly unified. One by one, they stood up, all pregnant bellies rising as they stared at the group like wolves.

Jian An immediately slammed the door shut halfway and pulled out the key.

The apocalypse really attracts crazy people.

Lan Xin froze. She had never expected them to be this hopeless.

“Open the door,” Jian An said coldly. “Anyone who wants out, be prepared for the apocalypse. We won’t protect you. Those who stay inside—do as you wish.”

Then he added, knife in hand:

“But if you step out and misbehave… I won’t hesitate.”

His gaze swept over those with ugly intentions.

They stiffened instantly.

Lan Xin was the first to step out. “My life will never be used as a breeding tool again!”

Others hesitated, but eventually followed.

Bai Zhi slammed the door shut again.

“Let’s go.”

Wen Qi quietly watched everything from Jian An’s arms, not saying a word.

This was their choice. The little rabbit always respected choices—even if they led to death.

Back at the group—

“They’re back,” Liao Liao said, noticing only Lan Xin returned.

Wen Qi glanced at the tree-like figures nearby. Half of them were gone.

“Some couldn’t accept it… and ended their own lives,” Bai Mu said. “The rest chose to stay and try to recover.”

Jian An handed Wen Qi her milk, inserted a straw, and fed it to her.

“Drink less. We’ll eat soon.”

Wen Qi immediately tried to gulp it down, then slowed to small sips.

Food is coming!

Jian An couldn’t help smiling. So cute… I want to kiss her. These people are really in the way. When can I finally kiss her properly?

“Next, what are your plans?” Jian An asked.

Bai Mu answered, “We’ll stay here. There are resources, and Chen Dao’s plants help against zombies. We’ll collect supplies and try to recover.”

“Alright,” Liao Liao said, patting him on the shoulder. “Good luck.”

Ji Chen also nodded as he returned from the lab.

“We’ll be leaving,” Jian An said.

“Brother Jian,” Bai Mu said firmly. “If you ever need us, we’ll go through fire and water.”

“No need,” Jian An replied, turning away with Wen Qi in his arms. “Grow stronger first.”

In the apocalypse, having more allies never hurts.

Wen Qi hugged his neck. “Shang Shang, what are we eating later?”

“Chicken clay pot rice,” Liao Liao said proudly. “My cooking is the best in the world.”

“Yay!” Wen Qi kicked her little legs happily.

Bai Zhi looked at her softly, eyes full of warmth. “Little sister, I wish you happiness.”

Wen Qi looked back and smiled brightly. “Pretty sister, you’re the best!”

At that moment, faint golden light fell onto Bai Zhi.

Wen Qi didn’t notice. She just turned back and buried herself in Jian An’s arms again.

After all… this place still had one more “golden light generator” right here.
