“Husband! Why are you here?”

Shen Junshan walked over to her coldly, his gaze sharp as he looked at Qiangzi.

Qiangzi was not even twenty yet. Intimidated by Shen Junshan’s presence, he couldn’t speak, and the soup dumpling in his mouth was dripping juice down his chin without him even noticing.Full novel: Rebirth in the Seventies: The Foolish Wife Has a Lucky Space — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Husband?”

Han Jiaojiao tugged at two of his fingers and shook them, and only then did he look at her.

After a long pause, Shen Junshan finally answered, “On business. Passing by.”

“If it weren’t for something unexpected today, we wouldn’t have come here either. And if we hadn’t come here, we wouldn’t have seen this. Don’t you think so, Brother Junshan?”

Zhong Shun raised his chin at Han Jiaojiao, snorting angrily through his nose the moment they met.

When she looked at Zhong Shun, he glared at her fiercely and mouthed the words “shameless.”

Only then did Han Jiaojiao realize that the way Qiangzi had just wiped the scallion off her face was a bit intimate, and they had misunderstood.

Was Shen Junshan’s current demeanor… jealousy?

“Hehe.”

“You’re still laughing? Brother Junshan, I think you should stay away from—”

Shen Junshan shot him a cold sidelong glance, cutting Zhong Shun’s words off in his throat.

Han Jiaojiao wasn’t actually stupid.

He’d said “stay away from”—how far was “divorce” behind that?

So this kid was whispering in Shen Junshan’s ear, hoping the two of them would get divorced!

Han Jiaojiao instantly lost any goodwill toward him.

She hugged Shen Junshan’s arm and played dumb: “He’s bad! I don’t like him.”

Qiangzi: …

Zhong Shun: …

“Jiaojiao, why are you here?”

For the first time, Shen Junshan didn’t respond to what she said. His tone sounded calm, but it was different from usual.

Han Jiaojiao knew he was teetering on the edge of anger.

If she answered wrong, Shen Junshan would really get angry.

Even though he wouldn’t do anything to her even when angry, she didn’t like it.

“Came out in the car to play. Someone wanted to trade my red umbrella for a ticket, and he lost my red umbrella.”

Han Jiaojiao quickly signaled Qiangzi with her eyes.

He knew a little about Han Jiaojiao’s situation, and he was smart himself.

Qiangzi immediately said, “It was Hongmotou! I saw some old woman tricking her into thinking it was edible.”

“Hongmotou? Jiaojiao, you didn’t eat it, did you?”

“No, he stomped it flat. He’s treating me to a meal to make up for it.”

Shen Junshan’s expression softened. He crouched down to look at her, and only after confirming there were no signs of poisoning did he let out a breath of relief.

Han Jiaojiao took the opportunity to wrap her arms around Shen Junshan’s neck and lean in close, parting her lips to reveal two rows of white teeth.

“Husband, I got a piece of scallion stuck in my teeth. Check if there’s still any?”

“No, it’s very clean.”

“This little brother said I eat ugly. Do you think I’m ugly?”

Shen Junshan shot a sharp look at Qiangzi.

Qiangzi instinctively wanted to argue, but then he caught sight of Han Jiaojiao’s eerie smile.

If you dare argue, you’re dead!

It was as if he heard those words in his head, and he immediately caved.

“Hehehe, I was just talking nonsense. How could Sister Jiaojiao be ugly? She’s the prettiest.”

“Hey, aren’t you the one from outside the hospital last time? What do you think, Brother Junshan?”

Han Jiaojiao suddenly broke out in a cold sweat down her back.

The day they went to the hospital—was Shen Junshan there too? Had he seen it?

“You’re mistaken.”

“Impossible. With my eyes, I only need to see something once to remember it.”

“You have three hundred degrees of myopia. You’re blind.”

Zhong Shun: “…” He was utterly devastated inside.

Han Jiaojiao was terrified inside too.

She hadn’t wanted to hide anything from Shen Junshan, but the sudden revelation that the little simpleton had become a doctor was too big a leap—she was afraid he wouldn’t accept it and would see her as a freak.

She didn’t want to let go of Shen Junshan’s hand.

At the thought, she clutched his collar tightly in fear.

Her palms were damp, and she realized Shen Junshan’s clothes were soaked with sweat, his collar completely drenched.

“Don’t touch, it’s dirty.”

Shen Junshan took out a handkerchief to wipe her hands, while beads of sweat rolled from his own forehead to the ground in large drops.

Han Jiaojiao, her heart aching, wiped his sweat with the back of her hand.

Shen Junshan frowned. “Don’t touch—you’ll get dirty again!”

“Fine, I won’t touch. So grumpy.”

“Grumpy?”

She nodded, and Shen Junshan immediately shut his mouth and said nothing.

He didn’t know how to be gentle; if speaking would frighten her, he’d rather stay silent.

Shen Junshan got up and ordered a large bowl of alkaline noodles, asked for some pickled beans, and wolfed it down with plain water.

Zhong Shun ordered a bowl of noodles with minced meat sauce and sat down at the same table.

He looked at what Shen Junshan was eating, then at what Han Jiaojiao was eating, and his anger flared.

“Some people are just born lucky—eat and drink without lifting a finger, right, Han Jiaojiao?”

“Mhm mhm, I’m the luckiest! Honey, I can’t finish this—here, you take it all. Eat every bite, don’t waste it.”

Han Jiaojiao pushed the remaining half bowl of wontons and two soup dumplings in front of him.

Shen Junshan didn’t say a word, naturally picking up her leftover wontons and shoving them into his mouth, not even leaving the soup—eating it all clean.

Zhong Shun never imagined that Shen Junshan, who acted with swift decisiveness and was respected even by his superiors, would eat his silly wife’s leftovers at home.

If she acted like this in front of outsiders, she must be even worse at home.

Zhong Shun’s resentment toward Han Jiaojiao grew even stronger.

He was determined to make Brother Junshan divorce this vicious, foolish woman!

Shen Junshan finished his lunch in ten minutes.

Han Jiaojiao leaned over, concerned, pressing her hand against his stomach. “Honey, doesn’t it hurt to eat so fast? It’s bad for your health.”

Shen Junshan stared at her blankly.

Feeling the warmth from her hand on his abdomen, the blood in his body stirred.

A flush crept from his ears down to his neck.

Han Jiaojiao didn’t understand, thinking it was just the heat of the day combined with his fast eating that made his blood rush and his face red.

“Hot? Want me to fan you?”

She had nothing to fan with, but seeing his cap, she grabbed it and fanned him with it.

Her adorable, earnest expression made Shen Junshan even more embarrassed.

His entire head was red…

Han Jiaojiao was puzzled too—why was he getting hotter the more she fanned? That didn’t make sense!

Qiangzi and Zhong Shun’s faces were red too.

Even the shop’s helper was hiding nearby, snickering.

They’d seen couples eating out before, but never one so intimate and bold!

Zhong Shun cursed her shamelessness inwardly, his lips trembling.

“Han Jiaojiao, you—you, you, you—you’re simply…”

“What’s wrong, are you a stutterer? Ugly and stuttering—my husband must work so hard being around you.”

“Han Jiaojiao!”

“Why do you keep calling me? I love my husband, not you!”

“Unreasonable! Brother Junshan, let’s go—we need to get things done in time.”

Shen Junshan still wanted to walk her back.

But there really wasn’t enough time, so he could only give a few instructions.

“Don’t wander around outside. Go home early.”

“Yeah, yeah, I’ll pick A Fang up in a bit and make fish for you.”

“Okay.”

Shen Junshan got back into the car, and only then did Zhong Shun ask, “Bro, you eat fish? I thought I remembered you didn’t like fish.”

“You remembered wrong.”

“No way? I’ve got a good memory. Every time there was fish in the cafeteria, you gave yours to someone else. Last time someone forced a piece of fish on you, you almost lost your temper. You looked so scary then—how could I get that wrong?”

“I didn’t eat it before, but I do now.”

“When?”

“Tonight.”

Zhong Shun: …
