Kata looked at the black goo that had come out of his body.
It was as black as ink and smelled as foul as death.
Kata had seen and gone through many things, and yet even he almost vomited his guts out.
He was covered by this black liquid from head to toe, and there was nothing he would have liked more than to rid himself of it.
He remembered the swamp where he had gotten the cockroaches but quickly dismissed that place as a good place to take a bath.
Kata decided that it was best to rush to the nearby river to bathe before he returned to camp.
He could feel the power flowing through his blood.
Wherever his blood reached, this power reached.
This essentially meant almost ninety percent of his body was filled by this power.
His muscles seemed indestructible, and he felt that he could live for hundreds of years.
He understood that this was an illusion brought about by his having gained so much power so rapidly, and so he did not put too much stock into it.
He took his first step and the place where his foot touched exploded instantly, sending rock and soil flying in all directions.
His body felt as swift as the wind and his mind was faster than it had ever been.
In his past life, he had not been a genius by any measure, but he had still managed to reach the peak of what anyone could ever achieve.
He could only imagine what he would now achieve with all this power.
The forest was dense and he was moving almost as fast as the wind, and yet he managed to dodge all obstacles with ease.
He moved between trees and skipped over ravines.
When he met a cluster of trees he could not dodge, he simply used brute force to turn the trees into dust.
In a matter of ten minutes, he reached a small blue river that cut across the forest.
This river was the cleanest source of water for all the Wena, and yet they rarely came to this place.
This was because the Wena did not have much need for drinking water, able to go weeks without feeling thirsty.
He jumped straight into the river and began scrubbing himself as though a man possessed.
The water around him turned black, and after ten minutes, this entire section of the river became black.
The only reason there were no bodies floating all around him by now was because there were no living things in this river.
The humans would never make such a mistake.
All sources of food had to be controlled strictly.
Kata was not even sure how the humans managed to remove all life from this river, but he was still impressed by their dedication to keeping the humans.
“I am no longer hungry but I now have no clothes.
You gain some, you lose some.”
Kata sat down cross-legged and began meditating on the current state of his body.
He had gained so much power but he had no idea how he had actually achieved this.
He did not for one second believe that it was as simple as eating radioactive material and becoming more powerful and faster than any human had the right to be.
Kata breathed in deep and began concentrating.
He cleared his mind and focused as best he could.
He knew that there was very little information he could gain from this, and yet he still had some hope.
He believed that a little knowledge was a dangerous thing, but it was better than nothing.
He had to gain a better understanding of who the Wena were and what they were.
Kata continued with his meditating for a few hours, and when he realized that the sun was about to rise, he decided to give up and return to camp.
The reason the humans did not stop the Wena from leaving camp and entering the forest was very simple.
When a Wena escaped the camp, the humans did not bother too much with them, but a few days later, the Wena who escaped would be brought back to camp having been captured and beaten to an inch of death. Enjoying the story? Read on at novelping(.)com.
They would be crucified and left out in the sun to die a most horrible and painful death for any Wena.
The sun truly hated the Wena.
The crucifixions reminded Kata of the ancient Romans from his past life.
Kata was about to give up when he suddenly felt something deep within his being.
He instinctively followed this feeling until he was brought to a space filled with nothing but darkness and an overwhelming sense of despair.
Kata ignored the fear that tried to creep into his heart and looked around.
In the distance, he could see a bright light akin to a lonely candle placed atop a dark and cold sea.
The moment he thought about going to this place, he found himself right next to the source of light.
It was a tiny ember of light that sat all alone in this place.
It floated in the darkness as though it had been there since the beginning of time and it would be there long after time collapsed in on itself.
“The God Spark,” Kata exclaimed with excitement and fear all forced into his voice.
The God Spark was the peak of his achievements in his past life.
After creating the Soul Empire and becoming the first Soul Emperor, ruler of all humanity, Kata had sought out ways for him to gain even more power.
Power beyond what humans could ever grasp.
Kata wanted to get his hands on the power of the gods and there was no stopping him.
He was the absolute ruler of all there was, feared and hated by countless alien races that he had subjugated into becoming part of his empire.
His word was law and his will infallible.
Instead of getting married and producing a few heirs to the throne, Kata preferred to rule his empire forever.
He wanted to become immortal.
“This is the only way to ensure that the glory of humanity shall endure for all time,” he believed, and so he used all the resources he had at hand to begin working on ways for him to stop being just another human.
