Her body had not yet recovered, and her emotions had been rising and falling violently. Su Yu cried until her entire body felt weak before finally letting go of Tangtang.

“Don’t cry anymore.”

The person behind her helped her up, allowing her whole body to lean against him.Full novel: Rebirth of the Little Spicy Wife in the 1970s: Raising Children and Farming with a Space — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Su Yu looked up at him.

Tang Chen.

Her husband.

Su Yu could no longer remember how many years it had been since she had last seen Tang Chen.

Sixteen years, perhaps.

She had thought she would be able to face this man calmly.

But now, seeing him standing behind her with his gentle and refined demeanor, softly comforting her—

Her tears would not stop falling.

“Tang Chen…” she murmured softly. “It’s you… Tang Chen…”

Her emotions collapsed once more.

No one knew how much fear she had endured during those sixteen years apart.

Especially after discovering that little Tangtang had gone missing.

The helplessness and fury had tormented her endlessly.

Yet no matter how broken she was, she had never had the luxury of letting herself fall apart.

Back then…

How desperately she had wanted someone she could rely on.

Someone who could support her and share her burdens.

But her husband had disappeared more than a decade earlier.

Tang Chen hugged her tightly, gently patting her back to comfort her.

“It’s okay. It’s okay. Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”

Su Yu obediently rested in his arms.

“I… I just…”

After a long while, her emotions finally settled.

She remembered everything that had happened earlier.

And she also remembered the mechanical voice that had sounded in her head.

None of it felt real.

Tang Chen patted her shoulder.

“It’s alright. I’ve already handled everything. He won’t tell anyone.”

Su Yu remembered the conversation she had overheard while unconscious and wanted to ask about it.

But when she lowered her head, she met Tangtang’s wide, curious eyes.

“Tell who what?” Tangtang asked curiously, looking between her parents as she stretched out her tiny arms. “Mommy, I want a hug too.”

Su Yu quickly pushed away from Tang Chen and crouched down, intending to pick Tangtang up.

But Tang Chen stopped her.

“You haven’t recovered yet. Don’t overexert yourself.”

Su Yu wasn’t afraid of being tired.

She was afraid she might not hold Tangtang properly and accidentally drop her.

Smiling, she kissed Tangtang’s cheek.

“Baby, let Daddy carry you for now, okay?”

Tangtang smiled sweetly, her dimples appearing.

But she shook her head.

“No Daddy. Daddy has to cook porridge for Mommy.”

Tang Chen bent down and rubbed his daughter’s little head.

“The porridge isn’t ready yet. Tangtang, stay here with Mommy while Daddy finishes cooking, okay?”

Su Yu immediately objected.

“No. I want to go to the kitchen too. I’ll help you.”

Tang Chen gave her a disapproving look.

She answered with a pitiful expression.

Unable to resist, he smiled helplessly.

“Fine. Then sit down and help me tend the fire.”

Tangtang raised both hands excitedly.

“Daddy, Daddy! Then what do I do?”

Tang Chen smiled warmly.

“You? Just stay beside Mommy and keep Daddy and Mommy company, okay? We both need Tangtang’s company very much.”

The little girl answered sweetly,

“Okay!”

As soon as they entered the kitchen, they saw the mess inside.

Su Yu’s eyes darkened.

All of it had been caused by her dear older brother.

Everything had happened so suddenly, and there had been no time.

Tang Chen had been busy finding a doctor for Su Yu and preparing food. He had only managed to tidy up a little.

“It’s a bit messy in here. I’ll clean it up later. Just sit down.”

Tang Chen comforted her.

Su Yu quietly nodded.

Following him inside, she placed Tangtang’s little stool beside her and helped her sit down.

Then she walked to the counter and softly asked,

“What should I do?”

Tang Chen glanced at her.

Seeing her determined expression, he replied,

“Vegetable and lean pork porridge.”

After thinking for a moment, he added,

“I’ll start the fire. The vegetables haven’t been prepared yet. Can you sit down and clean them?”

The vegetables were stored in a basket beneath the counter.

When Su Yu pulled out the basket, she discovered that most of them had been ruined.

After thinking about it, she remembered that Su Jianguo had rummaged through the kitchen earlier, throwing vegetables everywhere.

During their argument and fight, many had been trampled underfoot.

She frowned.

Her disgust toward Su Jianguo deepened.

She wanted nothing more than to…

But now she knew she had been given a second chance at life.

Her husband and daughter were still alive.

She couldn’t destroy her own family just to deal with trash like Su Jianguo.

She was no longer alone.

Silently, she nodded.

Carrying the basket, she sat beside Tangtang.

The fire beneath the stove was still burning strongly, so there was no need to add more wood.

She began sorting through the vegetables.

Tangtang’s round eyes blinked beneath her long eyelashes.

Watching her mother work, she stretched out her little hands and insisted on helping.

Su Yu didn’t stop her.

Instead, she slowed her movements and patiently taught her how to prepare the vegetables.

Most of the leaves in the basket had been crushed beyond use.

But the roots remained intact.

Holding a handful of vegetable roots, Su Yu suddenly remembered the mechanical voice.

The system.

The space.

The mission that had instructed her to farm within the space.

She still didn’t know whether any of it was real.

Nor did she know if the space actually existed.

Why not test it with these ruined vegetable roots?

The moment the thought crossed her mind—

The roots suddenly vanished from her hand.

Su Yu stiffened.

She quickly looked up.

Tangtang was still absorbed in playing with the vegetables.

And Tang Chen had just turned away to retrieve something.

Su Yu quietly relaxed.

It wasn’t that she didn’t want to tell them about the system and the space.

She simply didn’t know how to explain it.

After everything she had suffered in her previous life, she had become overly cautious and fearful.

“Alright. Put the vegetables in. They’ll be ready in another minute.”

Tang Chen picked up a water ladle and scooped some water.

Su Yu handed him the prepared vegetables.

He chopped them finely and added them to the pot.

Two minutes later, the porridge was finished.

Su Yu’s fever had broken.

But her body still felt weak.

After finishing her porridge, Tang Chen immediately sent her back to bed.

He practically forced her onto the mattress.

Tangtang also had her shoes removed and was lifted onto the bed by her father.

Mother and daughter sat side by side, both staring at Tang Chen.

The two looked as though they had been made from the same mold.

The sight softened Tang Chen’s heart.

He leaned down and gently kissed Su Yu on the cheek.

Then he kissed Tangtang too.

Tangtang waved her arms happily, overjoyed.

Su Yu, however, blushed with embarrassment.

“Harvest season has been exhausting lately,” Tang Chen said. “Your body can’t handle it right now. I’ll continue requesting leave for you over the next couple of days. Just focus on recovering. Don’t worry about work points. I’ll earn them.”

Su Yu had already been sick for three days.

Unfortunately, it was harvest season—the busiest time of year.

Not wanting people to gossip, and wanting Su Yu to rest properly, Tang Chen had been working especially hard.

Even after everything that had happened today, he didn’t dare delay any longer and soon had to return to work.

Tang Chen left.

Only the mother and daughter remained lying on the bed.

Tangtang was soft and warm, like a little milk candy, curled up in Su Yu’s arms.

Children were always sleepy.

Before long, she closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep.

Su Yu, however, remained awake.

She stared at Tangtang until her eyes became sore.

Half an hour later, she finally remembered the forgotten system.

Closing her eyes, she called out in her mind.

“System?”

No response.

Su Yu frowned and tried again.

“Space? Enter the space.”

Suddenly, everything before her changed.

Blue sky.

White clouds.

Endless stretches of land and distant mountains.

And soft soil beneath her feet.

Tangtang was still in her arms.

The place where they had been lying had completely changed.

Still asleep, Tangtang frowned slightly and let out a small uncomfortable whimper.

Su Yu’s eyes widened.

“Go back! Go back!” she cried.
