Beihai City, Bishui Garden, 22nd floor.

“If you have the guts, kill me. There’s no need to put on a hypocritical act here.”

Su Yuhan was pinned firmly to the cold floor by two bodyguards, unable to move. This time, her plan to assassinate Chu Yuexi had failed once again.Full novel: Reborn and Returning: The Goddess CEO Aggressively Pursues Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Susu, as long as you’re willing to cooperate, I can guarantee you won’t suffer a shred of harm again. I will return the Su family to you and support you in taking charge of it once more.” Chu Yuexi’s voice sounded calm and restrained.

“Heh, hahahahaha.”

Su Yuhan’s shoulders shook uncontrollably, as if she had just heard the most absurd joke in the world.

Her laughter was laced with bone-chilling madness and irony. Her neck flushed bright red, and the hatred in the depths of her eyes surged uncontrollably.

“Isn’t the harm you’ve done to me enough? Approaching me deliberately was nothing more than exploitation! You are the one who murdered my close family, stripped away everything from the Su family, and trampled on the sincere heart I offered you! Chu Yuexi, you are truly sickening.”

Chu Yuexi paused slightly, her eyelashes trembling violently as her fingers clenched slowly by her sides.

Looking at the spite spilling from Su Yuhan’s eyes, Chu Yuexi frowned deeply. A thousand words choked in her throat, leaving her temporarily speechless.

“What on earth is the token bestowed by the Gu family of the Imperial Capital, and where is it hidden? Hand it out.”

Looking at the high-and-mighty, cold, and breathtaking woman before her, Su Yuhan felt a persistent, stabbing pain in her heart.

So, turning her stable and ordinary life upside down and driving her family to ruin was simply for the sake of a token, a ticket to enter the top circles of the Imperial Capital.

How utterly laughable!

“If you want the token, kill me first.” Her tone was rigid and resolute, like the clashing of blades.

Standing beside Chu Yuexi, her secretary, Wen Ya, looked at the scene with a tense and uneasy expression, almost wanting to avert her gaze.

The two of them had once been so deeply affectionate and the envy of everyone, yet they had now fallen to such an irreconcilable and freezing state.

Gazing at Su Yuhan, whose eyes were filled with murderous intent, Chu Yuexi’s voice turned slightly hoarse. “Susu, as long as you cooperate, I,”

“Fine.”

Chu Yuexi stalled, her dim eyes suddenly lighting up.

“As long as you die right now, I’ll hand over the token.”

Su Yuhan lifted her eyes to glare fiercely at her, every word dripping with frozen venom.

Chu Yuexi took a deep breath, her gaze heavy and complex as she looked at her. “Calm down first. One day, you will change your mind.”

With that, she turned and left.

The bodyguards holding Su Yuhan down released their grip and retreated to guard the apartment doorway.

Su Yuhan collapsed to her knees on the floor, completely drained of strength. Past scenes surged through her mind, and the heavy weight of despair and pain pressed down on her, making it almost suffocating.

An invisible shackle gripped her chest, making every breath heavy and agonizing.

Originally, she could have lived a peaceful and steady life with her mother. It was Chu Yuexi’s appearance that destroyed her entire life.

“You constantly speak of affection, yet you are the culprit who dragged me into hell. Everything was just for a ticket to the Imperial Capital.”

Su Yuhan murmured softly, her voice trembling uncontrollably and carrying a sob.

Aunt Zhang, standing nearby, watched her heartbroken appearance with deep heartache.

Having no children of her own, she had watched Su Yuhan grow up over the years and had long since regarded her as her own child. Seeing Su Yuhan’s mental state nearing collapse, she felt extremely anxious.

Clearly, the eldest miss had unspeakable difficulties and many things were out of her control, yet she kept her lips tightly sealed, refusing to utter even half a word.

If they had just spoken openly, how could things have come to this dead end of mutual destruction?

Yet without Chu Yuexi’s permission, she could say nothing more.

“Yuhan, get up quickly! Don’t torture yourself like this.” Aunt Zhang reached out to help her up.

“Aunt Zhang.”

“Yes, I’m here.”

“Thank you for taking care of me all these years.” Su Yuhan’s eyes were damp, her tearful gaze sorrowful.

“Silly child, taking care of you is my blessing.” Aunt Zhang’s eyes instantly reddened.

“I want some congee.”

Aunt Zhang was overjoyed and hurriedly stood up to fetch the congee, assuming that she was finally willing to see reason.

The moment she turned around, Su Yuhan shoved herself up from the floor and bolted toward the balcony.

“Yuhan!” Aunt Zhang cried out in shock, rushing after her in a panic.

In the blink of an eye, Su Yuhan had slid open the glass door and climbed up onto the balcony railing.

Aunt Zhang lunged forward, catching only the edge of her skirt, and screamed in terror, “Yuhan! Don’t be impulsive! Someone come! Help!”

Hearing the commotion, the bodyguards outside rushed in, preparing to step forward.

“Stop! Take one more step, and I’ll jump right now!” Su Yuhan shouted sharply.

The bodyguards froze, looking at each other in dismay.

They knew very well that if anything happened to Su Yuhan, everyone would pay with their lives; no one dared to act rashly.

“Yuhan, don’t do anything foolish, come down!” Aunt Zhang was shaking all over from crying.

A mix of emotions surged through Su Yuhan. A stinging bitterness rose in her eyes, but she quickly forced it down and said coldly, “Tell Chu Yuexi to come back and see me within five minutes.”

A bodyguard didn’t dare delay; he sprinted out to chase after Chu Yuexi, who was about to leave the residential complex.

“Why push things to this point.” Aunt Zhang sobbed softly.

Su Yuhan didn’t answer, staring blankly into the heavy night sky. The cold night wind raged, scattering her strands of hair. Dressed in a plain white gown, she should have been carefree and radiant, but at this moment, it only accentuated her desolate state. The tear tracks on her face were still wet, and right beneath her feet was a sheer, dizzying drop.

Down in the underground garage, the bodyguard panted as he sprinted to the car, blocking the vehicle from driving away.

“Eldest Miss!”

Chu Yuexi slowly rolled down the window, her expression maintaining its usual cold indifference. If it weren’t for an urgent matter, she would never lightly spare these subordinates who had lost their composure.

“Eldest Miss, Miss Su.”

A faint trace of anticipation flickered across Chu Yuexi’s eyes. “Is she willing to cooperate?”

“Miss Su is going to jump off the building! She demands that you go back within five minutes!”

Before the words faded, Chu Yuexi kicked the car door open, sprinting back in her high heels.

Wen Ya followed closely behind, rebuking the bodyguard, “Why didn’t you say so sooner?!”

“I came as fast as I could to report.” The bodyguard turned cold with terror; the flash of murder in Chu Yuexi’s eyes just now had nearly consumed him.

Chu Yuexi rushed to the elevator lobby, frantically hammering the close-door button. Without waiting for Wen Ya and the bodyguard to catch up, the elevator doors slid shut, sealing everyone else outside.

On the ground outside lay a single high-end women’s shoe that had slipped off while she was running.

“Susu!”

Hearing the voice, Su Yuhan slowly turned her head toward the balcony doorway.

Chu Yuexi stood there in a disheveled state, her hair messy, one foot barefoot, and her face a mask of undisguised panic with her heart pounding in her throat.

A month ago, she had spared no effort to rescue Su Yuhan from the dungeon. When Su Yuhan refused to live in the grand mansion and asked only for this apartment they had once promised each other, she bought the 22nd floor without hesitation.

She had secretly hoped in her heart that perhaps Su Yuhan was willing to reconcile with her.

Now thinking back, that was merely an illusion before the storm.

“Susu, come down first! Whatever you want, I’ll promise you all of it.” Chu Yuexi stepped forward cautiously, wanting to close the distance.

Seeing the usually high-and-mighty person in such a flustered and out-of-control state, a layer of disdain and mockery surfaced in Su Yuhan’s eyes. “You’re worried about me?”

“Yes, I’m very worried about you.” Chu Yuexi’s voice trembled.

Su Yuhan paused slightly, then pulled a mocking smirk. “Chu Yuexi, I’ve always lived in your lies. I can’t see through you; even right now, I feel like you’re still acting.”

“It’s not true! Susu, I beg you, come down. Don’t gamble with your life.”

Watching her anxious appearance, Su Yuhan fell into a brief daze, which instantly gave way to self-mockery. “Fine. Die right now, and I’ll come down.”

Chu Yuexi froze in place, standing blankly as a heavy, aching sorrow washed over her eyes. She muttered in repetition, “Okay.”

Su Yuhan’s brow furrowed. Seeing Chu Yuexi reach behind her waist toward a dagger, she shouted sharply, “I don’t see a shred of sincerity! It was true in the past, and it’s true now! Even if you died a thousand times, it wouldn’t wash away what you owe me!”

Chu Yuexi fell silent, her eye rims turning red as she repeatedly pleaded in a low voice, “Don’t jump, Susu. Come down, please.”

Su Yuhan gazed at her quietly, the chill stretching vast distances between them.

“Chu Yuexi, what you owe me.”

As the words fell, she spread her arms, leaned backward, and plummeted straight down into the night sky.

“Susu!”

Chu Yuexi lunged forward, using every ounce of her strength to grab Su Yuhan’s wrist.

The sudden downward weight pulled at her, dragging more than half of her body out over the balcony, nearly causing her to fall as well.

“Eldest Miss!” Aunt Zhang lunged forward, grabbing Chu Yuexi tightly around the waist and dragging her backward.

“Susu! Hold on to me! Don’t let go!” Chu Yuexi’s terror was vividly real. Large, scalding tears fell, landing on Su Yuhan’s cheek.

Su Yuhan froze. This was the first time she had ever seen Chu Yuexi cry.

With a complex expression, a bitter, forlorn smile bloomed on her lips as she let out a long breath.

“Chu Yuexi, that token you calculated and searched so hard for. I gave it to you long ago.”

“Right on the day we met. Only back then, I didn’t know that was the very thing you dreamed of.”

Chu Yuexi’s mind went blank. Staring blankly at the person suspended in midair, she whispered in a broken voice, “The protective amulet.”

When they first met, Su Yuhan had given her that Su family heirloom amulet, wishing only for her safety through the years. It turned out that was the very token bestowed by the Gu family.

The moonlight spilled quietly down, its pale radiance enveloping the falling figure.

“If there is a next life.” Su Yuhan’s eyes clouded with moisture as she looked deeply at her.

“I never want to fall in love with you again.”

Su Yuhan closed her eyes.

“Susu!”

The white figure plunged rapidly downward along with the night. Following closely behind, another figure broke through the railing and plummeted together toward the deep earth below.
