Unable to contain her excitement, Feng Moxi pushed open the small side door.

Beyond it lay an enormous storage room.

Rows upon rows of neatly arranged shelves stretched into the distance, stacked with all kinds of supplies.Full novel: Reborn Apocalyptic Boss with a Space — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

They were the very supplies she had collected.

Many shelves were still empty, leaving plenty of room for future stockpiles.

A few contained only scattered ancient-looking books, several pale green porcelain bottles, and a box of mysterious jade tablets whose purpose she couldn’t yet determine.

Only then did Feng Moxi finally breathe a sigh of relief.

She hadn’t gathered a huge amount of supplies, but every single item represented her future security.

Especially in the years after the apocalypse, when global production had nearly collapsed and every necessity became priceless.

She had been terrified that everything she had worked so hard to collect had simply vanished.

It was obvious now.

This was a massive storage warehouse.

There was no time to dwell on it.

She needed to find the seeds.

While she still had time, she wanted to plant at least some of them before supplies became truly scarce.

When collecting them, she had noticed there were only a handful of fruit tree seeds, and the packaging looked quite old. She had no idea whether they would still germinate.

Searching carefully through the shelf where the seeds were stored, she eventually found several packets.

Apple.

Grape.

Peach.

As she continued digging through the collection, she even discovered several packets of sweet melon seeds, one of her favorite fruits.

Without wasting another second, Feng Moxi picked up the heavy broken sword from the low table inside the cabin.

Using it as a shovel, she dug more than a dozen small holes behind the cabin and planted every packet of seeds.

Then she carried several buckets of water from the mist-covered river and carefully watered them.

When she finally finished…

A faint flash of light flickered before her eyes.

She blinked.

It was gone.

Feng Moxi was certain she hadn’t imagined it.

Gripping the broken sword tightly, she shouted,

“Who’s there? Stop hiding.”

The broken sword immediately spun around her body, creating an airtight defensive circle.

Her sharp eyes swept every direction.

Just then…

A tiny translucent butterfly made entirely of glowing light fluttered into view.

Its delicate wings shimmered as it flew.

The butterfly was almost transparent.

Though tiny, it moved with astonishing speed.

In the blink of an eye, it had already circled around Feng Moxi once.

It resembled nothing more than a streak of light.

Feng Moxi immediately lowered her sword and stretched out her hand.

“Are you the spirit of this space?”

“Did you organize all my supplies?”

After all, in the novels she had read before, places like this were usually watched over by a space spirit.

The glowing butterfly lightly landed on her palm for an instant before taking flight again.

Then a tiny childish voice echoed directly inside her mind.

“Something like that.”

“You’re pretty silly.”

“Why would you plant those useless things?”

“You’ve never experienced real hunger.”

“…”

“Everything I’m doing is for survival.”

Holding the broken sword, Feng Moxi slowly walked toward the river.

She sat on a large smooth stone and carefully washed the blade in the crystal-clear water.

The cool water seemed to calm her entire mind.

Scooping up a handful, she brought it to her lips.

The moment it touched her mouth, her thoughts became remarkably clear.

“Can this river water be drunk?”

“Of course it can…”

The glowing butterfly paused, apparently realizing it had almost been led astray.

After a brief silence, it continued,

“But you don’t need to plant things yourself.”

“Now that you’ve started cultivating, you already have complete control over this space.”

“And yet you’re using the Number One Divine Sword under Heaven, Soulbreaker, as a farming hoe.”

“What a terrible waste.”

Its tiny voice sounded almost comical despite the serious lecture.

The problem was…

She hadn’t seen a single hoe inside the storage room.

“Then how am I supposed to plant things?”

A streak of light flashed through the air.

A small jade tablet gently landed in Feng Moxi’s hand.

Compared to the jade tablet, the glowing butterfly itself appeared even more transparent.

It looked as though it might disappear at any moment.

“Are you… a butterfly fairy?”

“…No.”

Suddenly, the glowing butterfly transformed.

A tiny butterfly flower appeared on top of the jade tablet in her hand.

Its blossom was delicate, and its stamens glowed with a faint blue light.

An instant later, it transformed back into the glowing butterfly and began flying circles through the air again.

The display left Feng Moxi staring in amazement.

“Then… are you a plant spirit?”

“Close enough.”

Another vague answer.

Feng Moxi couldn’t help feeling helpless.

This really was a spirit that had no idea how to hold a proper conversation.

Deciding not to pursue the matter, she focused her spiritual awareness on the jade tablet.

A cultivation technique immediately appeared in her mind.

Its name…

Divine Tempering.

“Spiritual consciousness…”

“So… basically mental power?”

The manual explained in great detail how to cultivate one’s spiritual consciousness.

With sufficient mastery, it allowed one to manipulate objects from a distance.

Feng Moxi’s heart skipped a beat.

In the apocalypse, mental ability users were incredibly powerful.

They could control creatures of the same rank, or even weaker ones.

If she cultivated her spiritual consciousness alongside Absolute Slaughter, then upon reaching Level Zero she would be able to detect any movement within a ten-meter radius.

At Level One…

Her perception would extend to fifty meters.

In an apocalypse filled with constant danger…

Such an ability would be nothing short of a lifesaving gift.

“Thank you.”

“What’s your name?”

“I’m Xiaoying.”

The name suited it perfectly.

Just like a streak of light, it moved unbelievably fast.

She couldn’t help wondering whether it possessed any combat abilities as well.

“If you learn this technique, anything you want to plant can eventually be handled entirely through your spiritual consciousness.”

“In fact, ever since you inherited this space, you’ve already possessed a certain amount of mental power.”

“Oh?”

“How so?”

“You’re really slow.”

“Otherwise, how do you think you’ve been entering this space with your consciousness and controlling everything inside?”

“So that’s it…”

Understanding finally dawned on Feng Moxi.

As she walked, she began experimenting with various mental commands.

Eventually she returned to the cabin and picked up the jade slip resting on the table.

Sure enough…

It contained the cultivation technique Absolute Slaughter.

Everything about this place was astonishing.

Then another question surfaced.

“Why is this sword broken?”

Xiaoying continued fluttering around her.

Upon hearing the question, it suddenly froze.

Its tiny black gemstone-like eyes became distant and unfocused.

After a long silence, it murmured,

“I…”

“I don’t remember.”

“Or maybe…”

“It was simply too long ago.”

“I only remember an earth-shattering explosion.”

“After that… I lost consciousness.”

“When I finally woke up, you were already controlling this space.”

“What happened back then…”

“What exactly happened…?”

Xiaoying continued mumbling to itself, shaking its tiny head from side to side.

Then…

Without warning…

It disappeared.

Feng Moxi smiled helplessly.

She had only asked out of curiosity.

She wasn’t expecting a real answer.

She had simply wanted to chat.

Who would have thought the little spirit would take the question so seriously?

Still…

One thing was now certain.

This mysterious space had once belonged to a cultivator.

She had spent quite a while inside.

When Feng Moxi withdrew her consciousness from the space, she discovered that the sky outside was still pitch black.

Meanwhile, Luo Yunxi remained completely immersed in her cultivation.
