There are stories of old that inspire great men. Legends of people that overcame the impossible. Me like King Arthur, who slayed the great black dragon and freed his people. And the stories of mankind’s greatest hero, Ademus the great, a mortal who defied the gods and fought untill his last breath. But not many get the chance to experience life beside such legends, but Alexander was lucky enough to fight alongside the greatest wizard of his age, Merlin.

Thousands of demons poured out of from a gate in the sky. These creatures plagued the world, as they would massacre every living thing in their path. Creatures who do not care for anything, and they would kill every man, child and woman in their way. And by the time Alexander and Merlin reached the kingdom it was utterly destroyed and only dead bodies could be seen. Alexander couldn’t help but gag at the disgusting sight of mutilated bodies.

"What kind of creatures are these? Who would create such monsters?" Alexander said with a sorrowful tone. He was still carrying the child they found in the village.Full novel: REBORN AS HEIR TO THE TYRANT KING — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

"Let’s go to the castle. We better check on the king," Merlin said to the young prince, and trying his best to avoid answering such questions as it would make Alexander more depressed if he knew the truths of this world. The entire castle was surrounded with the bodies of dead knights, and each one of them was cut in half, but weirdly their bodies weren’t eaten like the other people in the kingdom. "Stay vigilant. The castle has already been invaded by a different kind of demon," Merlin said to Alexander.

As they walked through the castle it only seemed to get colder and the magical energy of an unknown creature got stronger. Alexander’s body felt heavier with every step, and unlike Azrael’s graceful aura this creatures aura was just pure evil. Nothing but hatred could be sensed coming from the throne room, and when Alexander and Merlin opened the door to the throne room, what they saw was unexpected. The creature in the throne room wasn’t some monstrous looking beast, but rather a man that seemed to be in his early 20s, and the dead bodies of the nobles surrounded him.

This man had bright green eyes and golden hair, and the smile on his face was so senile that it made Alexander’s body shake from fear. The strange man stood over the king as he was lying on the ground, panting in fear.

"Merlin, save me!" The king pleaded, but the strange man stepped on his body and crushed his right ribs.

"Don’t cry now, king George. Our fun is only starting," the man said and took out a sword, he then proceeded to stab it right into the kings arm, and the cries the king made echoed through the castle.

Merlin casted a barrier around the king to try and protect him, but the man broke it with ease and that left Merlin frightful since not many people could break his barrier that easily.

"What are you?" Merlin asked the man. The man looked at Merlin like he was nothing and simply ignored him, and that made Merlin angry.

Merlin then teleported behind the man and struck him with his magical stuff which sent him flying through the room and crushing on the throne. "Oh you must be the great wizard, Merlin, am I right? So it is true that you use spells without incantations," the man said as he got up and stretched his body.

"Yes I do. And who might you be?" Merlin asked once more, hoping to get a clear answer this time.

"I am Beelzabub. One of the Dukes of hell, and one of the fallen," he said and gave a small bow. The danger that befell them was now clear, and now Merlin had to protect the prince from This creature.

"Who are the fallen?" Alexander asked Merlin.

"They were angels once. Beings that swore to protect mankind, but they fell from grace and they were banished from heaven," Merlin answered. "I fought one of them a long time ago, and it was a battle that almost destroyed me," he added.

"Arakiel was a weak fool. He underestimated the power you Nergals have," the demon Beelzabub said as he was slowly walking towards Merlin.

"So you know of my people?" Merlin said.

"Yes, i know of their suffering, and I also know how the heavens had forsaken your people just like they did to me and my brothers. So I offer you a place by my kings side," Beelzabub, said to Merlin. It was a tempting offer but Merlin wasn’t stupid.

Merlin laughed at that offer. "I would trust the gods before I trust your kind you rotten piece of shit," Merlin said with a smile, and that made Beelzabub angry. Beelzabub disappeared from sight at a speed that couldn’t even be comprehended, and when he appeared he was right in front of Merlin with his sword ready to cut down the wizard, but before the sword even touch Merlin he chanted some words in a dead language.

"OBLITUS ES," Merlin chanted, and reality seemed to shift for a moment, and no one could see anything that had happened. Within seconds Beelzabub’s right arm was on the ground, like someone had cut it clean off.

"What did you do to me?" Beelzabub said with fear in his eyes. He couldn’t believe that he had just lost his arm to a mortal. "What the hell are you?" He asked once more.

"I’m just a man lost in a strange world. Hoping to find a home for myself," Merlin said, but his words seemed more like a riddle than an actual answer. Beelzabub seemed to have gotten even angrier and tried to rush out at Merlin but it was futile, as Merlin once again used is strange technique and took Beelzabub’s other hand.

"I will kill you! I will destroy everything you love! This isn’t my end!" Beelzabub screamed out in anger. Isaac grabbed Beelzabub by the head and slammed him into the ground.

"Sanguis primorum hominum atque homo aeternus, vocem meam audite, hancque animam expellite," he chanted a spell in the old tongue, and the ground beneath them started to quake. The ground then split in half, and the hands of the damned souls started coming out of the ground. The hands grabbed onto Beelzabub and started dragging him back into the underworld.

"Go back where you came from you damn bastard," Merlin said as he kicked Beelzabub in the face, and sending back to hell.

"Alexander, the kingdom isn’t safe right now. We have to leave. We should head to the kingdom of Deneos and try to seek refuge their," Isaac said to Alexander who was still carrying the young boy on his back.

"What about the king?" Alexander asked.

"I’m sorry, but the king is dead," Merlin said. Those words shouldn’t have hurt Alexander, but somehow he felt the pain from knowing about the death of the king. ’Maybe the old Alexander was the one crying for this tyrant king,’ he thought to himself.

"I guess no matter how terrible a father is a child will still cry for them," Alexander said as tears filled his eyes. Merlin tried his best to comfort Alexander. He waited for Alexander to finish grieving before they moved on. Merlin took the young boy from Alexander’s back and laid him on the ground and started healing his wounds, and within seconds he started waking up.

"Hey. Hey young man, are you okay?" Merlin asked, but the kid seemed confused and didn’t know where he was.

"Who are you?" The boy asked with a little fear in his eyes.

"I’m Merlin, and don’t worry you are safe here," Merlin said with a smile, trying to make the kid less tense. "What about you, what’s your name?" Merlin asked. Merlin noticed the magical energy this boy possessed and it was overwhelming, and it only got stronger an stronger by the minute.

"I-I am Dante," boy said. After awaking from his slumber the boys hair started changing from black to a bright sky blue, and his eyes were now a shining brown.
