Song Yuntang fell straight into a broad chest. When she looked up and saw that it was Fu Weicheng who had caught her, she momentarily forgot the surrounding chaos. Her gaze unconsciously swept over him.

What a handsome man.

Just look at those broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs… tsk, tsk. This man was almost too well-proportioned—so handsome it felt excessive.Full novel: Reborn in 1970s: I Brought My Twins to to the Military District to Divorce But Got Pampered by the Commander Instead — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He just looked cold and distant, like someone not easy to approach.

As she had stumbled, her other hand had instinctively grabbed onto him. Beneath her palm, she felt firm, solid muscle. So this was what muscles felt like?

It made her want to squeeze them a few times.

But why did this man look somewhat familiar?

The thought flickered briefly through Song Yuntang’s mind before she quickly dismissed it. Ugly men looked ugly in all sorts of ways, but handsome men tended to resemble each other. Having flipped through male model magazines before, she didn’t find it surprising.

Besides—

“You little brat, now you know how powerful I am!” Li Xiulan was still shouting arrogantly from the side.

Fu Weicheng steadied Song Yuntang and reminded her in a low voice, “Be careful.”

Song Yuntang snapped back to her senses, quickly shifting her gaze away from his overly handsome face. Arguing was far more important than admiring men.

Although… this man could be useful.

At a glance, Song Yuntang could tell he was no ordinary person. She pointed at Li Xiulan and said to him, “Comrade soldier, I want to report her! She’s a human trafficker! You can check her bag—she must be carrying illegal drugs used to knock people unconscious!”

In truth, Song Yuntang had no evidence—she was just trying to scare her. But unexpectedly, the woman fell right into the trap.

Hearing that Fu Weicheng was a soldier, Li Xiulan trembled. Her pupils shook with unease. She had indeed been planning to drug Song Yuntang, and the powder was still in her pocket. Had this girl seen it?

She waved her hands frantically. “No, I’m not a human trafficker! Don’t listen to her nonsense!”

Her mouth denied it loudly, but her feet kept retreating.

Fu Weicheng saw through her guilty behavior. Taking a long stride forward, he quickly subdued her with practiced ease, restraining her firmly.

As Li Xiulan struggled, a small paper packet of powder fell from her pocket.

The surrounding passengers gasped.

“There’s powder! There really is powder! That woman was right—she’s really a human trafficker!”

Fu Weicheng’s expression darkened. He tightened his grip and warned in a low voice, “Stay still. Move again and I’ll dislocate your arm.”

Caught red-handed, Li Xiulan turned pale, trembling. She couldn’t understand how a country girl had seen through her.

The commotion attracted the train staff, who hurried over.

Fu Weicheng handed Li Xiulan and the evidence to them, instructing them to detain her and hand her over to railway police at the next station.

Niannian and An’an rushed to Song Yuntang’s side, each clinging to one of her legs. They had been frightened by the conflict, yet they couldn’t help sneaking glances at Fu Weicheng.

That uncle who caught the bad person was so impressive!

After handing over the trafficker, Fu Weicheng looked at Song Yuntang again. His dark eyes fixed on her as he was about to speak—

“Something’s wrong! Regiment Commander Fu, something’s wrong! Commander He’s chest condition is acting up again—he’s having trouble breathing! We need to find a doctor on the train!” a young soldier reported urgently.

Fu Weicheng’s expression immediately turned serious, and he moved to speak with the train staff.

Suddenly, a clear, gentle voice rang out.

“I’m a doctor! Where is the patient?” Song Yuntang said loudly.

The young soldier beside her looked at her in surprise. She looked like a young woman in her early twenties, delicate and beautiful—hardly someone one would associate with being a doctor.

Song Yuntang grabbed his arm and urged, “If he can’t breathe, we can’t delay. Take me there quickly.”

The soldier hesitated and looked to Fu Weicheng.

Fu Weicheng had already approached them and said in a low voice, “Take her and try.”

Song Yuntang hadn’t expected this cold man to trust her, but she wouldn’t disappoint him.

Before leaving, she still thought of her children. She picked up An’an and placed her into Fu Weicheng’s arms. “Comrade, these are my children. Please help me look after them.”

Fu Weicheng instinctively caught An’an. Meanwhile, Niannian grabbed onto his pant leg.

Song Yuntang quickly ruffled Niannian’s hair before hurrying off with the soldier, leaving Fu Weicheng alone with the two unfamiliar children.

He looked down at the child in his arms—a little girl of about four or five, thin, with large round eyes made more prominent by her lack of flesh.

She seemed afraid of him, not daring to get close. Her small hands clenched nervously into fists.

For some reason, his heart softened.

Fu Weicheng had never dealt with children this young before. Feeling awkward and uneasy, he tried to comfort her for the first time.

“Ahem… don’t be afraid. I’m not a bad person.”

An’an, timid by nature, didn’t dare speak. Her little face remained tense.

Niannian, however, looked up at him with serious eyes and said clearly, “Uncle, this is my little sister. You can’t kidnap her.”

Good heavens—was he being mistaken for a human trafficker too?

One child feared him, the other stared at him. Feeling awkward, Fu Weicheng said, “Let’s go find your mother.”

After they left, the passengers who had just witnessed the scene returned to their seats, the carriage gradually becoming noisy again. Amid the chatter, a faint comment could be heard—

“That soldier just now… why do those two children look a bit like him…”

…

In the sleeper carriage.

After being brought over, Song Yuntang saw the elderly man with graying hair—the one they called Commander He.

Commander He clutched his chest. His face was pale, tinged with bluish-white, his brows tightly furrowed, cold sweat forming on his forehead. He was clearly suffering from chest tightness, difficulty breathing, and physical weakness.

“Move aside, all of you! Don’t crowd the patient!” Song Yuntang called out urgently.

She took out her acupuncture kit from her spiritual space, swiftly unfolding it to reveal rows of gleaming silver needles.

Picking one up, she grasped Commander He’s right hand and inserted the needle deeply into the point at the base of his thumb.

After the first needle, his rapid breathing noticeably eased, his complexion gradually improving. He blinked, looking at the young woman before him in surprise.

The first needle only provided initial relief.

Song Yuntang then checked his pulse and inserted a second needle, then a third.

Commander He felt the changes in his body and touched his chest in disbelief. “…It doesn’t hurt anymore. My chest doesn’t hurt at all. Young lady, your name—”

“The treatment isn’t finished. The patient shouldn’t talk.”

Song Yuntang spoke seriously, treating him as an ordinary patient without regard for his high status.

The surrounding soldiers were stunned. This young woman actually dared to command Commander He.

Behind her, Fu Weicheng entered the carriage, holding An’an and leading Niannian. Hearing her words, the corners of his lips lifted ever so slightly.

Five minutes later.

Song Yuntang withdrew the needles and carefully packed them away. The carriage had fallen completely silent.

“Ahem… Commander He, you may speak now.”

“Hahaha…” Commander He laughed heartily. Not only was he not offended, he looked at Song Yuntang with clear admiration. “Young lady, after just a few needles, my chest feels clear and my breathing smooth. Your medical skills are remarkable.”

Song Yuntang replied modestly, “Just a small skill.”

But inwardly, she thought—As a descendant of traditional Chinese medicine and a medical PhD, my skills are far more than that.

However, she did not take his condition lightly.

She asked, “Commander He, have you recently been experiencing weakness and swelling in your legs, and difficulty sleeping at night?”

“You can tell that too?” Commander He said in surprise. He nodded. “When I was younger, I could charge into battle carrying artillery. Now I’m old—my body isn’t what it used to be, and problems keep appearing. Young lady, what illness do I have?”
