“Have you ever considered that a dog can’t change its habit of eating filth? If you don’t deal with him thoroughly, will you be able to escape next time?”

Su Jinxia said coldly, “Or do you like this sort of thing? In that case, I won’t meddle. I’ll leave the two of you here to enjoy yourselves!”

She had originally come over to teach Song Jianping a lesson. If Lin Yuanyuan was softhearted, then Su Jinxia would let her be. After experiencing so much in that place, she had long since lost whatever compassion she once possessed. Otherwise, she would never have survived until now—much less been able to take revenge and settle her grievances!

Lin Yuanyuan snapped out of her daze. “I don’t want to stay here. This man is a beast!”

“He wanted to force me to marry him. Just now, he was about to do something terrible to me. If you hadn’t come, he might have ruined me!”

She covered her face in pain, not daring to imagine what might have happened.

Song Jianping lost his nerve. This woman knew some rough-and-ready martial arts; if he stayed, he would definitely suffer. A wise man did not fight when the odds were against him. Of the thirty-six stratagems, running away was the best one.

He crawled and crawled, but after a while, he sensed that something was wrong. He suddenly turned his head and saw that the two women were following him.

Lin Yuanyuan was also holding a brick. Her gaze was resolute, as though she was about to bring it crashing down on him.

Su Jinxia was looking at him with an inscrutable smile, which made his heart skip a beat.

“What are you two trying to do? Hitting someone is against the law! I’ll report you!”

“Oh?” Su Jinxia crouched down and grabbed the man by the collar.

“Report us for what? It seems the lesson I gave you wasn’t enough. Let me think about where else I can hit you!”

Cold sweat streamed down Song Jianping’s forehead. He drew heavy breaths, and just as he was about to open his mouth, a sharp pain suddenly exploded in his head.

When he focused his eyes, the brick in Lin Yuanyuan’s hand was gone. She was covering her mouth with both hands, looking utterly terrified.

Su Jinxia looked toward Lin Yuanyuan. She had not expected this young woman to have so much courage—to strike so viciously so quickly.

“You!” Song Jianping felt a rush of heat on his face. When he touched it, his hand came away covered in blood. His eyes widened in terror as the blood flowed straight into them.

His vision soon began to blur. In the distance, he saw a white figure.

Zhao Yue saw a person lying on the ground with blood pouring from his head, while two young women stood nearby, one of them clearly terrified.

“What happened?”

Su Jinxia looked at Zhao Yue, who had suddenly appeared. “Why are you here?”

Zhao Yue said, “I suddenly remembered that I hadn’t told you which entrance we were supposed to meet at. I was worried we’d end up missing each other. Then I saw you enter this alley, so I followed you in. What happened here?”

Su Jinxia’s mind raced. She forcefully pinched her own leg, and the pain compelled tears to well up at the corners of her eyes.

“He did that to himself. He wants to frame us!”

“I didn’t!” Song Jianping hurriedly denied it. Hooliganism was a serious offense, and he could be sentenced for it.

“They were the two who beat me up! Big Brother, you have to stand up for me!”

Lin Yuanyuan was furious. Pointing at him, she said, “You dragged me into the alley! You wanted to assault me!”

Song Jianping shouted, “Who would dare assault you two? You sluts!”

Zhao Yue immediately understood what had happened. He viciously kicked the man. “You’re committing hooliganism and still think you’re in the right?”

Su Jinxia said, “This man is a notorious scoundrel around here. He’s done plenty of things like bullying men and preying on women.”

After hearing that, Zhao Yue kicked him several more times. Then he hauled the man up. By now, Song Jianping looked half-dead, with blood still seeping from his forehead.

His clothes were soaked through with blood, and both sides of his face were deathly pale. He had clearly lost a great deal of blood.

“Judging by his condition, I’ll take him to the hospital first. You two go report it!”

Su Jinxia nodded. “All right, let’s do that.” Then she turned and took Lin Yuanyuan’s hand. “Let’s go report it!”

When she heard that they were going to the police station, Lin Yuanyuan hesitated. If this matter became known, there would certainly be gossip.

Su Jinxia saw her concern. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll go with you. Nothing happened between you and him, and I’ll testify for you!”

Lin Yuanyuan gazed at the young woman before her. Her eyes were so resolute and bright. Although they had not known each other before, she gave Lin Yuanyuan a sense of conviction.

“All right. I’ll listen to you!”

The two women walked out of the alley hand in hand. After crossing two streets, they arrived at the entrance of the police station.

Just then, two police officers came out. Neither of them recognized the two unfamiliar faces.

Su Jinxia said, “We want to report a case!”

Ma Cheng, the Station Chief, looked at the two young women before him. Both were quite attractive, each in her own way. He said to the person beside him, “You go ahead. I’ll handle things here, then I’ll come over.”

The other person nodded and left.

Ma Cheng then entered the police station. He was somewhat curious about what sort of case two young women could possibly be reporting.

The scene before Su Jinxia’s eyes was exactly the same as in her previous life, except that she had never seen this police officer before.

The station was not large, containing only a few desks. She did not see anyone else.

Ma Cheng casually chose a desk, pulled over a chair, and sat down. Looking at the two pretty young women, he said, “Find yourselves some chairs and sit down.”

Su Jinxia did not stand on ceremony. She pulled over two chairs, and the two of them sat down opposite him.

Seeing that the young woman had an imposing air, Ma Cheng asked with a smile, “What are you two reporting?”

Lin Yuanyuan became frightened again and did not know how to explain.

Su Jinxia said, “We were almost assaulted just now. That man failed to commit hooliganism, so he smashed his own forehead with a brick and made it bleed. Someone has already taken him to the hospital.”

There was a lot to take in. The water Ma Cheng had just drunk nearly came out through his nose. He quickly set his teacup on the desk.

“What happened?”

Su Jinxia said, “You should know that man. He often ends up at the police station.”

Ma Cheng’s expression turned serious. “Tell me. Who exactly was it?”

Su Jinxia said, “His name is Song Jianping.”

The moment Ma Cheng heard the name, he immediately knew who she meant. He slapped the desk hard.

“How outrageous! He’s completely lawless! In broad daylight, he actually dared to do something like this!”

Seeing the police officer’s attitude, Lin Yuanyuan also found the courage to speak. “He wanted to force me to marry him. I refused, so he dragged me into the small alley.”

“If this young woman hadn’t helped me, I would have had great difficulty getting away.”

Ma Cheng nodded, indicating that he understood what had happened. Then another thought occurred to him: Song Jianping had given himself a blow with a brick. Had the man gone insane?

“He hit himself with a brick? Just to frame you two?”

Su Jinxia said, “That’s right! You don’t suspect that the two of us hit him with a brick, do you? Look at us—we’d have trouble even running away. If we wanted to hit him, it would have been difficult for us to do that!”

Ma Cheng thought that made sense. He had dealt with Song Jianping several times before, but each case had ended without consequence. Song Jianping’s family would proactively pay money to settle matters, and the other party would let it go without pursuing the matter further.

Looking at the two young women before him, both of whom were quite beautiful, Ma Cheng thought that Song Jianping could indeed have entertained improper thoughts upon seeing them. What they said was probably true.

“What condition is he in? Is it serious?”
