Su Zhen spoke while covering her face, sobbing pitifully.
Her appearance couldn’t have looked more wretched.
Anyone unaware of the truth would have thought she had suffered a grave injustice.
Qin Jiao, standing beside Su Zhen, quickly comforted her.
"Don’t be sad, Zhenzhen. It’s even better that she’s so shameless—I never liked the idea of her being my sister-in-law anyway."
"Now that she’s acting shamelessly and getting involved with a cripple, it’s all the better."
"You can be my sister-in-law from now on."
Qin Jiao linked arms with Su Zhen, looking triumphantly at Su Yun.
Su Zhen covered her face, shaking her head as she sobbed, "Jiaojiao, don’t talk nonsense. Brother Qin Xiao… he, he’s my brother-in-law…"
"Even if my sister betrayed him, I can’t… I can’t be with him…"
Seeing this, Su Yun curled her lips into a faint smile.
She sat up from under Xiao Yuan.
Xiao Yuan was somewhat worried about her.
"Su… Su… Comrade…"
The concern in his eyes was genuine.
Su Yun gave him a reassuring smile.
Her gaze, tinged with a faint chill, turned toward Su Zhen, who stood triumphantly at the door.
She slowly got out of bed, a slight smile playing on her lips as her eyes settled on Su Zhen.
"Little sister."
She crossed her arms, her lips curving as she walked up to Su Zhen. "Look at me."
Su Zhen lowered her hands, her calculating gaze falling on Su Yun.
Su Yun’s eyes crinkled with a smile, and then she raised her hand, delivering a resounding slap across Su Zhen’s face.
The slap left Su Zhen dizzy and seeing stars.
Clutching her face, she instinctively wanted to curse Su Yun.
But before she could, Su Yun lifted her foot and kicked Su Zhen squarely in the abdomen.
"Ah…"
Su Zhen stumbled backward several steps.
The feigned smile on her face vanished completely.
"You!"
Su Zhen clutched her stomach, trembling as she pointed at Su Yun.
Beside her, Qin Jiao snapped out of her shock and lunged forward, ready to help Su Zhen deal with Su Yun.
Su Yun paused, glancing sideways at Qin Jiao.
That single glance rooted Qin Jiao to the spot.
Fear flashed across Qin Jiao’s face, and she didn’t dare take another step forward.
Su Yun curved her lips into a sweet smile.
"Don’t rush."
"Your turn will come soon."
With those words, she backhanded another slap across Su Zhen’s other cheek.
Both of Su Zhen’s cheeks were now red and swollen from the blows.
But this wasn’t the end.
It was only the beginning.
Su Yun rolled up her sleeves and began slapping Su Zhen left and right, one blow after another, in rapid succession.
After about twenty slaps, Su Zhen’s face was swollen beyond recognition.
Then, Su Yun lifted her foot and kicked Su Zhen in the stomach again.
Su Zhen fell backward with a thud.
"Zhenzhen!"
Qin Xiao, who had been hiding outside the courtyard gate watching the spectacle, hadn’t expected to see Su Zhen—who had just gotten married—beaten to the ground instead of Su Yun.
His heart ached with pain.
He leaped down from the crooked tree in a flash, rolled up his sleeves, and prepared to deal with Su Yun.
"Qin Xiao…"
Inside the low, cramped house, Xiao Yuan saw Qin Xiao about to attack Su Yun. In his urgency, he grabbed his crutch and hurried outside.
But Qin Xiao’s clenched fist was already swinging toward Su Yun.
Seeing this, Su Yun tilted her head and sidestepped half a step, dodging Qin Xiao’s punch before firmly grasping his wrist.
Summoning every ounce of strength, she took two steps back, pulling Qin Xiao forward off-balance. As she pivoted sideways, she raised her elbow and drove it hard into his chin.
Su Yun could clearly hear the sickening crack of bone.
Qin Xiao grimaced in agony.
"Ah…"
He retracted his hand, instinctively reaching for his jaw.
But Su Yun wasn’t about to let him recover.
She bent her knee and drove it upward, striking him squarely between the legs.
"Ah!"
"Ah!"
"Su Yun… Su Yun…"
Qin Xiao crumpled to the ground, clutching his groin, howling in pain with tears and snot streaming down his face.
The onlookers were stunned.
Was this… really the same Su Yun from the old Su family—the quiet, invisible daughter who never drew attention?
How was she so fierce?
Wasn’t this a bit too ruthless?
Even Xiao Yuan, who had been worried she might be bullied, widened his eyes slightly at the sight.
Where had she learned such proficient Free Combat Arts?
Su Yun’s current physical condition was far too weak.
Just slapping Su Zhen dozens of times, kicking her a few more, and beating up Qin Xiao had already left her utterly exhausted, on the verge of collapse.
She stopped moving, stood still, and took a deep breath.
Her gaze swept over the neighbors staring at her as if she were a ghost.
The corners of Su Yun’s lips curled into her signature smile.
The crowd collectively took a step back.
Fear flashed across their faces.
They were all afraid.
Su Yun withdrew her smile, steadied her breathing, and finally spoke, "Everyone, it’s not that I deliberately wanted to hit anyone. It’s just that this despicable pair pushed me too far."
She pointed at Qin Xiao, curled up on the ground, then gestured to the injuries on her head and neck.
"This scoundrel had already been carrying on with my sister Su Zhen but kept it hidden. Yesterday, after I married into the Qin family, he finally showed his true colors."
"In the bridal chamber, he choked and beat me until I was barely breathing, then carried me to Comrade Xiao’s courtyard."
"After that, he spread rumors that Comrade Xiao and I were committing adultery."
She paused, glancing down coldly at the two on the ground.
"If I’m not mistaken, these two have already gone to the town to register their marriage."
Her words sent a shockwave through the crowd.
Even Qin Jiao was taken aback.
She was the first to protest, "Su Yun, you’re lying! How could Zhenzhen possibly go with my brother to get a marriage certificate? They’re not even a couple. Don’t try to fool anyone."
Su Yun shot Qin Jiao a disdainful look and sneered, "Why would I bother lying to someone as dim-witted as you?"
Qin Jiao, "You!"
She clenched her fists, wanting to step forward.
But after seeing her brother and Su Zhen lying on the ground, she retreated.
"You’ve assaulted people. This isn’t over. I’m going to fetch my father and the brigade leader."
Qin Jiao threatened.
Su Yun welcomed her going to call them.
"Go ahead."
"Actually, I’d like to ask: knowing full well that I married Qin Xiao yesterday, who secretly issued the letter of introduction for this scumbag and this slut to go to the commune and register their marriage?"
Su Zhen, too injured to get up, and Qin Xiao, writhing in pain on the ground, wanted to stop Qin Jiao from fetching help but were powerless.
They could only watch helplessly as Qin Jiao dashed out the door.
Utterly exhausted, Su Yun spotted a small stool nearby. She walked over and plopped down on it.
She would wait for Qin Jiao to bring the others.
However, it was unexpected that the first to arrive were not Qin Aiguo and the team leader, but a visibly anxious Xu Dongmei.
As soon as she entered the yard, she saw her son lying on the ground.
She rushed forward as if the sky had fallen.
Throwing herself beside Qin Xiao, she wept bitterly.
"My son, my son, what happened to you? What happened?"
"Who beat you like this? Who did this to you?"
In the yard, there was clearly more than just one of her children, but in Xu Dongmei's eyes, she could only see Qin Xiao.
Su Yun raised her eyes and glanced at Xiao Yuan standing at the entrance.
