It was working hours. Xiao Yu deliberately came while Fang Yi and his mother were not home. Ji You naturally understood her intention. After opening the door she struck first.

“You went through so much effort pulling connections to work at the agricultural machinery station in the same unit as Fang Yi. Does he know you came to see me?”

Xiao Yu forced a smile, wanting to anger Ji You. “This job lets me spend every day with Fang Yi. I spend more time with him than you do. You don’t mind, right? After all, you have no feelings for him.”Full novel: Reborn in the ’80s: The Supporting Female Character Is Pregnant with the Big Shot’s Child — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Ji You sat steadily on the chair and smiled. “I don’t mind. Not about how I feel toward Fang Yi, but because he feels nothing toward you. He has been married for so long and someone still clings shamelessly without any dignity.”

Xiao Yu was very surprised. Previously she could provoke Ji You instantly, yet now Ji You remained calm and even mocked her.

She tried to defend herself. “Ji You, you misunderstood. If you hadn’t come to Lincheng, Fang Yi would definitely have married me.”

Ji You’s face carried ridicule. “You came at the wrong time. You should have come when Fang Yi was home. Then you could hear him say in person that even if you were the last woman on earth he still wouldn’t marry you.”

The situation reversed. Before it was Ji You who lost her temper. Now Xiao Yu has become flustered.

She stammered, trying to strike back. “Have you thought about my advantage? My sister grew up with Fang Yi. When she died he promised to take care of me for life.”

This was her strongest card. Every time she mentioned it Ji You used to become furious. She looked over smugly.

In the previous life Ji You did mind very much. If it were only Xiao Yu it would be fine, but there was also the deceased sister, practically a white moonlight, and people kept flaunting it before her.

She had thought that after the divorce Fang Yi would marry Xiao Yu. But he did not.

Fang Yi never remarried and kept himself clean without involvement with any woman.

Aside from leaving some pension money for his biological parents, he left all his property to Ji You and gave Xiao Yu nothing.

Ji You had investigated Xiao Yu to see whether Fang Yi supported her in daily life.

After learning her life was no different from ordinary people, Ji You felt relieved.

Xiao Yu also provoked her. Without any contact information she only knew Ji You worked at a magazine and wrote her a letter.

Ji You rarely read reader mail but happened to see that one.

The letter said, “You feel proud right? You think Fang Yi left the inheritance because he loved you?”

Ji You wanted to probe for hidden reasons so she replied using provocation. “Self righteous women look in the mirror at your jealous face. If not love then what else? What do you think?”

She never received a reply before she was reborn.

To Ji You, the money was left to explain everything. Xiao Yu was never her opponent.

So now Ji You felt completely untroubled and calm.

She lightly mocked, “Does your deceased sister know you always bring her up to steal her man? If she knew she would be furious enough to come back to life. You should confess to Fang Yi and urge him to divorce. You know that won’t work. You will only look like a clown jumping around.”

Xiao Yu was shocked. Her face alternated red and pale. She could not understand how Ji You could speak so calmly.

She asked, “Then why did you suddenly change your mind? Since you don’t like Fang Yi, follow your original plan. Abort, divorce, return to the big city, and your life will be back on track. If you can’t live together why force it? You are unhappy and make Fang Yi’s family chaotic. That’s immoral.”

Ji You’s lips are curved. “Trying to steal a married man is moral? I changed because someone wants to snatch him, so I won’t let you succeed. Look in the mirror. Compare you and your sister. Do you really think you have competitiveness when Fang Yi doesn’t like you? My own plans need no interference.”

Xiao Yu was nearly stunned by anger.

She came intending to persuade Ji You to abort but Ji You’s sharp words almost killed her with rage.

Seeing her frustrated expression, Ji You did not want to continue arguing. Fang Yi’s romantic troubles should be solved by himself.

However in the previous life Xiao Yu hinted there was another reason behind the inheritance. Ji You wanted to test it.

With a superior tone Ji You said, “Do you know why Fang Yi treats me so well?”

Xiao Yu pouted. “Because you look like a vixen.”

Ji You’s skin was fair and glowing, eyes large and bright with slightly raised corners, a charming look, straight nose bridge and sensual lips. She looked radiant and beautiful.

Xiao Yu felt the goddess who created people was unfair.

Ji You analyzed the answer. It was shallow. Xiao Yu clearly knew nothing useful.

Ji You smiled. “Thank you for the compliment.”

“I didn’t praise you,” Xiao Yu said angrily.

Ji You replied slowly, “Not everyone can be called a vixen. Calling me that is praise.”

Xiao Yu was furious but defeated. Ji You now had stronger logic, confidence, and calmness. She could no longer provoke her.

She realized Ji You had changed. Not only refusing abortion, even her temperament and speech improved. The current Ji You easily crushed her.

Before leaving she still said, “I won’t talk to you. I will talk to Fang Yi. If you can’t live together then stop forcing it.”

Ji You loudly saw her out. “Go ahead. Wait for Fang Yi to scold you.”

After work Fang Yi returned home. The corridor still echoed with sizzling cooking sounds. Inside Ji You sat quietly reading. When she looked at him her watery eyes glanced then quickly moved away.

Fang Yi immediately sensed trouble and walked over quickly, examining her face. “What’s wrong? Are you uncomfortable?”

Ji You glared at him. “You mean your son right? He’s fine. He even kicked me just now. Baby kick me again.”

She lifted her clothes slightly showing the curve of her abdomen but nothing happened.

Fang Yi bent down. “I was asking about you.”

Ji You turned away with a snort. “Your sweetheart came to see me.”

Fang Yi pressed his lips. “I have no sweetheart. You mean Xiao Yu? She really isn’t.”

Ji You avoided his gaze. “Her sister is.”

Fang Yi hurriedly denied, “What are you thinking? Her sister isn’t either. Believe me.”

Ji You said, “She was your childhood friend?”

Fang Yi felt helpless. “No. If she counted then all kids in the factory would count. Don’t overthink.”

Zhang Guilan cooked while listening carefully, afraid they might quarrel.

Unexpectedly Ji You’s tone was more like a coquettish complaint than accusation. They sounded like flirting rather than arguing.

After a while Fang Yi returned to the point, resting his arms on the chair back. “What did Xiao Yu tell you? She doesn’t think much and talks carelessly. Don’t listen to her nonsense.”

Ji You simply replied, “Reflect on our marriage. Eighty percent of the bad relationship is your responsibility.”

Fang Yi crouched and looked up at her. “I can reflect, but from which angle? Give me a hint.”

Ji You ignored him. Helpless, he remained crouching and rested his head on her lap.

She pinched his chin. “Fang Sihuo, comfortable sleeping on my legs?”

“Comfortable.”

She pinched his ear. “Get up.”

“No.”

The next morning Fang Yi arrived at the agricultural machinery station but waited outside on his bicycle watching passersby.

Xiao Yu arrived just in time as usual and happily called, “Brother are you waiting for me?”

Fang Yi frowned. When she approached he asked, “What did you say to Ji You yesterday? Don’t talk nonsense in front of her.”
