The silent night was shattered by screams coming from all directions.

Mu Cheng, who had already fallen asleep, was awakened by the screams outside. She opened her eyes and stared at the ceiling, listening to the continuous cries. Calmly, she looked at a distant vase. The vase was lifted by an invisible force, then slammed onto the table and shattered.

She was still a psychic-type ability user. However, this time, perhaps because she had been continuously using the spring water over the past half year, her ability had awakened earlier than before.

“Hello, apocalypse. I believe this time, I will live very well.”

After saying that, she closed her eyes and went back to sleep. Although it was noisy outside, she quickly drifted into dreams.

The zombies at this stage were still newly transformed—newborn zombies were not dangerous. So as long as she stayed in her room that night, she would be safe.

At the same time, outside Jiang City, in an abandoned factory, a group of criminals and police officers were engaged in a fierce firefight.

On the police side, there were five soldiers in military uniforms. They charged at the front, leading a group of police officers in suppressing the criminals, forcing them into chaos and scattering them everywhere. These five came from the elite Flying Eagle Special Operations Company of the capital, and the leader was Captain Tang Nuo.

Under their leadership, the battle lasted only about twenty minutes before the group of criminals surrendered.

However, during the arrest, someone suddenly coughed up blood and collapsed to the ground, convulsing violently.

Qin Ziheng angrily kicked him. “Stop pretending! Get up!”

“Enough, check what’s going on.” Qi Fei pulled Qin Ziheng back and knelt down, preparing to examine the man—when suddenly, more than ten people around them simultaneously vomited blood and collapsed with a thud. Among them were two police officers.

“Xiao Qi, don’t touch him!” the assault team captain hurried forward, grabbing Qi Fei’s hand and said nervously, “This afternoon, hospitals received many patients like this. They’ve already diagnosed it as influenza. This flu is extremely severe—many people have already died. The hospital specifically warned us not to touch them to avoid infection.”

Qi Fei quickly pulled his hand back. “This serious?”

The captain glanced at the dozens of people lying on the ground and nodded solemnly. “Yes, it’s very serious. Take the others away first. Let the hospital handle this.”

Qi Fei and the others looked at Tang Nuo, who had not spoken. Tang Nuo nodded, and they began to move the uninfected people out.

But no one expected what happened next.

Two of the “dead” bodies on the ground slowly began to rise.

“Ah!” A scream echoed through the factory as everyone turned to look.

A blood-covered man grabbed another handcuffed man from behind and bit into his neck.

Fresh blood splattered, and the horrifying chewing sound made everyone freeze in shock.

“Ah!” Another scream—another criminal’s leg was grabbed by a supposedly dead man, who began gnawing on him with crunching sounds.

“Save them!” Tang Nuo shouted and immediately rushed forward. The others reacted and followed, trying to stop the attackers by grabbing their heads or punching them. But no matter what they did, the creatures continued biting and tearing flesh without hesitation.

At the same time, the dozen convulsing people on the ground had stopped shaking. Slowly, they began to rise and move toward the surrounding crowd.

The scene instantly descended into chaos.

While Tang Nuo was trying to stop them from attacking others, one of the suddenly lunging figures bit into his arm—instantly tearing away a chunk of flesh, blood gushing everywhere.
