Xiaoxiao jumped in fright. The next moment, a familiar Villa Compound appeared in her mind, and the package that had vanished was lying quietly in its courtyard.
Lin Xiaoxiao was overjoyed.
Wasn’t this the Villa Compound she had bought secretly in the suburbs with the money she’d saved from selling things at a stall in her previous life? She had planned to move there and enjoy her retirement after divorcing Qiao Jianguo.
After her rebirth, the only thing Lin Xiaoxiao had been attached to from her previous life was the Villa Compound she’d worked so hard to buy. She hadn’t even had time to divorce Qiao Jianguo and move in to enjoy it before she suddenly fell gravely ill and died.
The thought of that house ending up in the hands of her four children, whom Mother Qiao had raised to be ungrateful wretches, or someone from the Qiao family made Lin Xiaoxiao’s heart ache.
But Heaven had truly been kind to her, Lin Xiaoxiao. Not only had it given her a rebirth, it had brought her Villa Compound along with her!
Lin Xiaoxiao locked her door from the inside and silently thought, *Go in.* The next moment, she appeared in the Villa Compound.
The cucumbers, tomatoes, zucchini, eggplants, and all kinds of vegetables in her garden were growing lush and green.
Big, bright-red apples weighed down the apple tree’s branches. The grapes on the vine-covered shade arbor were deep purple-black, hanging in thick clusters all along the vines.
There were also orange trees, mango trees, jujube trees, and other fruit trees that bore fruit in different seasons. Every one of them was laden with fruit, and all the crops were somehow at the height of harvest.
Lin Xiaoxiao curiously picked a bunch of grapes. The next moment, an identical bunch grew right where she had picked it.
She nearly jumped for joy. These things replenished themselves!
Lin Xiaoxiao hurried to the back courtyard to check on her livestock shed.
Ten chickens, ten ducks, three big white geese, three dairy goats and their five kids, along with the billy goat, were all strolling leisurely around their pens.
After watching for a while, Lin Xiaoxiao realized that their manure was automatically gathered in the compost heap nearby, where it fermented into fertilizer, which was then automatically spread over the vegetable garden in the front courtyard.
The water and food in the troughs were replenished automatically, too.
Lin Xiaoxiao ran back to the villa and opened the big refrigerator. She took out a small cake and ate it. The next moment, a new one appeared in its place.
She could no longer contain her delight. Excited, she bounced around the villa, as happy as a puppy let loose to run.
She wouldn’t have to worry about struggling through life after returning to the resource-scarce seventies anymore!
With the space, she felt even more confident that she could give her family a good life!
Even losing out to Grandpa Lin when the family split up didn’t feel as upsetting now. With the space, those small advantages weren’t even worth caring about.
“Knock, knock, knock!”
A deep, pleasant voice came from outside the door. It was Lu Ye.
“Xiaoxiao, are you finished packing? I’m here to help you move your things.”
Lin Xiaoxiao hurried out of the space and did her best to keep the corners of her mouth from turning up before going to open the door for Lu Ye.
“All done, all done. Thank you! I really can’t carry everything by myself.”
The space was too miraculous. Lin Xiaoxiao had no intention of telling anyone about it. She could quietly use its supplies to help the people who loved her. That was best for everyone.
But even though Lin Xiaoxiao tried to hide it, her happiness was practically spilling out of her.
Luckily, Lu Ye’s imagination wasn’t that wild. He assumed she was happy to see him come help, and her mood rubbed off on him, filling him with energy.
He glanced at the three large bundles she had packed. Without hesitation, he slung the biggest one—the bundle of quilts—onto his back, then easily picked up one of the other two in each hand.
Lin Xiaoxiao stared in amazement and hurried to protest.
“Lu Ye, take a little less. I’ll ask my Eldest Brother and Second Brother to come get the rest later.”
Lu Ye looked at her worried little face, feeling even better, and started straight out the door.
“It’s fine. Let’s go.”
They were her personal belongings. He didn’t want another man carrying them—not even her own brothers.
Lin Xiaoxiao: (⊙o⊙)
She came to her senses and hurried after him, trying to support the big bundle from behind to lighten his load.
Little did she know that instead of helping, she was pushing him forward and making it harder for him to carry.
Lu Ye didn’t complain or tell her to stop getting in the way. He only curved his lips in a smile and let her hinder him.
He liked having her by his side. Even when she got in the way, he liked it!
Fortunately, her new home was right next door, and they arrived in no time.
When Father Lin and Mother Lin saw Lu Ye surrounded by the three big bundles, they hurried over to take the things from his hands.
Lu Ye smoothly stepped out of their reach. “I’ve got it. Father and Mother, you can get back to what you were doing.”
The couple paused and exchanged a glance, but didn’t insist. They simply helped by opening the door to the room they had set aside for Lin Xiaoxiao.
Leaving aside those people in the old Lin family, Lin Xiaoxiao was practically the family’s favorite.
The old house had three bedrooms, and Father Lin and Mother Lin had deliberately chosen the best and largest one for her.
Even though Lin Xiaoxiao would soon be getting married, they had no intention of making her settle for less.
Lin Xiaoxiao took one look at the room and knew how thoughtful her parents had been. Warmth filled her heart.
Lu Ye set down Lin Xiaoxiao’s things. After looking around the room the Lin family had cleaned out first, he immediately started making her bed.
Lin Xiaoxiao came back to herself and said, a little awkwardly, “Lu Ye, I can do that myself. You’ve been busy all day, too. Go home and rest.”
Lu Ye stopped her from getting up and naturally took her little hand, guiding her over to sit on a small stool nearby.
Now that he had the definite standing of her fiancé, he was much bolder.
Seeing how adorably dazed and obedient she was as he arranged things for her, he couldn’t hold back anymore. He raised a hand and stroked her head, gentle as if soothing a child.
“Be good. From now on, you won’t have to do any of the hard, tiring work. I’ll take care of it.”
As he spoke, he fished two White Rabbit Creamy Candies out of his pocket and put them in her hand.
“Sit here and eat your candy. I’ll be done soon.”
Lin Xiaoxiao felt her face getting terribly hot. This was so embarrassing. Was Lu Ye really like this? Was this normal?
Her brain short-circuited, and all she could do was nod in a daze.
Lu Ye smiled. Seeing how blankly she stared, he unwrapped one of the candies and put it in her mouth. Only after she began sucking on it, her cheeks puffing out, did he stroke her head again and return to his work.
Lin Xiaoxiao savored the milky sweetness in her mouth as she watched him bustle about.
Her heart stirred despite herself.
She thought that if Lu Ye wasn’t putting on an act now, and he didn’t change in the future, then perhaps she really had found a treasure.
She didn’t understand how he could be connected to the cold man Lin Pandi had described—the one who only gave her money at regular intervals and otherwise ignored her.
But why should she care what other people said? Lin Xiaoxiao believed in seeing for herself. She shouldn’t judge someone based on what other people told her.
Since she had agreed to marry him, she should also put the past behind her and try to get to know him properly.
Lu Ye helped Lin Xiaoxiao get her room in order. He also helped with the move and with tidying the thatch on the roof.
Of course, the Lin family wouldn’t let him go home hungry. Mother Lin asked him to stay for a meal.
Lu Ye wanted to spend more time with Lin Xiaoxiao, so he didn’t refuse.
Lin Xiaoxiao didn’t know that, for everyone else, today had been unexpected—but for Lu Ye alone, it had been a delightful surprise…
