After a busy day, both An Jianjun and Feng Jiaojiao were exhausted.

Feng Jiaojiao wasn’t the type to force herself to keep going when she was tired. After telling Mother An that she was going to rest, she went straight back to the room and collapsed onto the kang.

An Jianjun saw that she was so exhausted that she couldn’t even be bothered to take off her shoes. She simply lay there on her stomach and soon drifted off to sleep.Full novel: Reborn into the 1970s: Starting as the Cannon-Fodder Female Supporting Character — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Knowing she must have been completely worn out, he sighed and went to the kitchen.

“Jiaojiao must be exhausted!” Mother An said when she saw her son come over to get some hot water.

“Yeah. She fell asleep as soon as she lay down. She probably got up too early this morning and has been running around all day.”

“Then let her sleep. You should wash your feet and get some proper rest too.”

Mother An thought her son simply wanted to soak his feet to relieve his fatigue.

“Yeah. Mom, you should go to bed early too. You’ve worked hard today.”

“What are you talking about? My son got married today. I’m happy.”

After saying that, Mother An glanced outside to make sure no one was around. She pulled An Jianjun aside and stuffed some money into his pocket.

She was returning the several dozen yuan left over from the three hundred yuan he had given her for the wedding.

“Mom, what are you doing?”

“Silly boy. This is the three hundred yuan you gave me. There’s still more than sixty yuan left, so take it back.”

Apart from spending quite a bit on meat, Mother An hadn’t spent much on the rest.

There were plenty of vegetables in the villagers’ gardens. She had also traded for some dried goods, dried mushrooms, wild vegetables, and the like. Combined with the meat, they had managed to put together a whole table of dishes.

An Jianjun took the money out and stuffed it back into his mother’s pocket.

“Mom, keep it for yourself. Think of it as some private spending money from your son. Buy whatever you want. You don’t need to give it back to me.”

Since An Jianjun had already given her the money, there was no way he would take it back.

His family had gone through so much trouble to arrange his wedding. How could he possibly haggle over a little money with his own mother?

Mother An grinned from ear to ear.

“My third son really knows how to think of his mother. Fine, I’ll keep it. Don’t worry. I’ll take good care of your wife. I won’t let anyone bully her.”

Over the past few days, Mother An had already noticed that her son wasn’t completely indifferent toward Feng Jiaojiao.

After all, she was such a beautiful and delicate girl. The two of them had already been intimate, so how could her son’s heart possibly be made of stone?

He couldn’t possibly feel nothing for her.

With his mother’s promise, An Jianjun knew there shouldn’t be any problems after he left.

“Thank you, Mom!”

“Go wash your feet and get some sleep.”

An Jianjun brought a thermos of hot water and a basin of cold water back to the room.

After mixing them to the right temperature, he took off Feng Jiaojiao’s shoes and socks.

Her small, fair feet were revealed.

An Jianjun compared one with the length of his palm.

They’re about the same size. So tiny.

She probably wore only a size three or five.

He silently memorized it.

The warm water touched her feet, waking Feng Jiaojiao from her sleep.

She opened her sleepy eyes and saw the figure busy in front of her.

She suddenly sat upright.

“You… I… I can do it myself. I was just really tired, so I dozed off for a while.”

Other than the first time after she had transmigrated, this was the first time in either of her two lives that she had been this physically close to a man.

And An Jianjun was actually washing her feet!

It startled her.

“It’s fine. I’ve already started. Just leave it to me. I’ll be finished soon.”

An Jianjun quickly washed both of her little feet.

Feng Jiaojiao usually took great care of herself. Even when applying body lotion, she never neglected her toes, so her skin was exceptionally soft and delicate.

An Jianjun’s rough hands had barely washed her feet a few times before the skin began to turn pink.

Combined with the warmth of the water, her fair little feet looked soft and rosy.

It was the first time An Jianjun had truly noticed the difference between men and women.

No, technically, it was the second time.

Feng Jiaojiao was soft and delicate everywhere, while he was practically hard and rugged all over.

He picked up the towel beside him and dried the water from her feet.

“If you want to wash your face, you can use that basin over there. The water has already been mixed to the right temperature, so you can use it directly.”

After saying that, An Jianjun used the same foot-washing water to wash his own feet.

Feng Jiaojiao suddenly felt her face burning.

She quickly got out of bed, put on her shoes, and went to the other side of the room to wash her face.

After An Jianjun finished washing, he climbed onto the kang and arranged the bedding before going outside to empty the water.

Feng Jiaojiao glanced at the bedding.

There was only one quilt.

The heat in her face intensified.

To avoid the awkwardness, Feng Jiaojiao quickly changed into her pajamas and crawled straight under the covers.

Whoever goes to sleep last is the one who gets embarrassed.

She buried herself under the quilt and pretended to be asleep.

When An Jianjun returned after emptying the water, he saw a little lump under the covers that looked just like a cocoon.

He couldn’t help but chuckle.

He turned off the lamp, took off his clothes, and climbed onto the kang.

The corner of the quilt was gently lifted.

Feng Jiaojiao nervously curled herself into a ball, her hands tightly clutching the front of her clothes.

Thump, thump.

Her heartbeat sounded especially loud in the quiet darkness.

Smelling the faint fragrance beside him, An Jianjun felt his emotions stir.

But he still had enough self-control to restrain himself.

His first experience with Feng Jiaojiao hadn’t been pleasant.

He had been drugged, lost control of himself, and hadn’t known how to be gentle with her.

He was afraid she would become frightened or resentful of him, so he wanted to wait until she was comfortable enough with him before taking things further.

Still…

It shouldn’t be too much to ask for a little affection now, right?

After all, she was already his legal wife.

His strong arm gently pulled her into his embrace.

“Don’t be nervous. Just go to sleep. I’ll only hold you like this.”

Hearing the steady heartbeat beneath the man’s chest behind her, Feng Jiaojiao unexpectedly felt a sense of security.

She knew An Jianjun was a man who kept his word.

Gradually, she relaxed and eventually fell asleep peacefully.

When he heard her breathing become slow and steady in his arms, An Jianjun desperately suppressed the restless desire inside him.

Am I just making things difficult for myself?

Breathing in the sweet scent of the woman in his arms, An Jianjun eventually drifted off to sleep as well.
