As Chen Feng and Senior Sister Meilin followed the trail left behind by the missing disciples, a sudden roar echoed through the forest.
A demonic beast burst out from the shadows behind Meilin and attacked before either of them could react.
Slash!
Its claws tore across Meilin’s shoulder and side, leaving deep wounds.
“Senior Sister!” Chen Feng shouted.
Meilin gritted her teeth and immediately swung her sword.
A sharp sword light flashed through the air.
The beast’s head flew off its body.
However, the danger was far from over.
One after another, more demonic beasts emerged from the forest.
They hunted in packs.
Meilin stood in front of Chen Feng, protecting him while fighting the beasts.
Blood flowed from her injuries as she continuously swung her sword.
Several beasts fell, but more kept appearing.
Her face gradually became pale from blood loss.
Finally, she staggered.
“Chen Feng…” she said weakly.
“I can’t hold them off much longer.
Run!”
Before Chen Feng could answer, Meilin collapsed to the ground.
As her consciousness faded, she saw Chen Feng step in front of her.
A powerful aura erupted from his body.
The Fourth Layer Copper Body activated.
His skin shone with a metallic glow.
The beasts charged toward him.
Bang!
Chen Feng punched the first beast and shattered its skull.
Another beast leaped at him.
Its claws struck his body but failed to leave even a scratch.
With his Copper Body, ordinary demonic beasts could not harm him.
One after another, Chen Feng defeated the remaining beasts.
Soon, the forest became silent.
Looking at the unconscious Meilin, Chen Feng frowned.
“We need to leave before more beasts arrive.”
He carefully carried her and searched for shelter.
After some time, he discovered a hidden cave.
The cave appeared safe and free from demonic beasts.
Chen Feng placed Meilin on a flat stone and examined her injuries.
The bleeding was getting worse, and Meilin’s face grew paler with every passing minute.
Chen Feng looked at her injuries and clenched his fists.
“What am I thinking?
Her life is in danger.
I have to apply the medicine now with my hands.
If she gets angry after waking up, I’ll deal with it then.”
Taking a deep breath, Chen Feng carefully treated her wounds and applied the healing medicine.
After making sure the medicine had covered all the injured areas, he wrapped bandages around the wounds and covered her with a blanket.
Only then did he let out a sigh of relief.
“I hope Senior Sister doesn’t kill me when she wakes up.”
Chen Feng stepped out of the cave and began setting up a protective formation around the entrance.
Once the formation was complete, he went into the forest, hunted a beast, and gathered some meat before returning to the cave.
When he arrived, Meilin was still unconscious.
Chen Feng sat near the fire and began preparing food.
What he didn’t know was that Meilin had already started waking up.
Slowly, she opened her eyes.
The first thing she noticed was the pain from her injuries.
The second was the smell of food coming from the fire.
She looked down and saw the bandages covering her wounds.
It was obvious that Chen Feng had treated her while she was unconscious.
Then she saw him sitting beside the fire.
A complicated expression appeared on her face.
At that moment, Chen Feng turned around and noticed that she was awake.
“Senior Sister, you’re awake!”
Meilin immediately stood up and grabbed her sword.
Seeing this, Chen Feng jumped back in surprise.
“Senior Sister, what are you doing?”
Meilin glared at him.
“You treated my injuries without asking and touched me.”
Chen Feng smiled awkwardly.
“You were unconscious.
If I had waited any longer, the injuries could have become life-threatening.”
Meilin opened her mouth to argue but could not find any words.
After all, Chen Feng had saved her life.
Her grip on the sword loosened, and it fell to the ground.
For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Finally, Chen Feng said softly, “I was only trying to save you, Senior Sister.
I never intended any disrespect.”
Meilin remained silent before finally nodding.
“Fine.
I will let this matter go since you saved my life.
But you must never tell anyone about what happened here.”
Chen Feng immediately nodded.
“I promise.”
Meilin took out a fresh set of clothes from her storage pouch.
“Chen Feng, go outside for a while.”
“Understood, Senior Sister.”
Seeing the warning look in her eyes, Chen Feng wisely chose not to argue and quickly left the cave.
A short while later, Meilin called him back inside.
The two sat beside the fire and began eating.
After recovering some of their strength, Meilin spoke.
“Our mission isn’t finished.”
Chen Feng nodded.
“We still need to find the missing disciples and collect the Spirit Tempering Grass.”
The two looked toward the depths of Blood Moon Valley.
Neither of them knew that an even greater danger was waiting ahead.
