“After getting the marriage certificate, we go our separate ways. You can go chase your true love now.”

The black Maybach sped down the highway. The woman in the back seat suddenly spoke.

The man behind the wheel sneered. “In such a hurry to divorce, so your true love has arrived, huh?”Full novel: Reborn on the Day of Divorce: The Villainess and the Male Lead Start Over — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The woman ignored him. He endured a few more moments before asking, “Which unlucky guy caught your eye?”

“Is it unlucky to be noticed by me?” Ji Nian’s gaze stayed fixed on the window, tears welling up.

Is that really how he thinks?

All these years of loving him, and this is the response—calling her “unlucky”?

“Not unlucky? You made him the third party! You didn’t uphold marital fidelity!” the man growled through gritted teeth.

Ji Nian wiped her tears. She was getting divorced anyway—why should she still pamper him?

She stared at the side of his face and said, “Men past twenty-five are like fifty. You’re old and useless. And yet, you won’t let me find someone strong and capable?”

“I’ll find one!”

Before the words even left her mouth, a huge truck appeared. The Maybach was instantly hit and sent flying.

Before losing consciousness, Ji Nian thought that this man must be trying his hardest to survive, so he wouldn’t die on the same day as her.

…

“Ji Nian? Isn’t she the woman who constantly clung to Young Master Xie? If I were her parents, I’d have beaten her to death.”

“Hmph, looks innocent and pure, but behind the scenes, who knows how she begged Young Master Xie!”

When she opened her eyes again, Ji Nian smelled the acrid scent of smoke.

She wanted to vomit, but hearing their words, she forced herself to hold it in.

“Look at her—probably not much money at home. She’s just after Young Master Xie, trying to catch a rich husband.”

“Do you think Young Master Xie would marry her? Playing around is more than enough for her.”

The verbal attack continued. Ji Nian stared at the time on her phone, stunned for a moment.

She had… reborn. Back to the first year of university.

Could even a villainous side character get a chance at rebirth?

During the freshman opening ceremony, she, as the representative of the new students, gave a speech. But in a careless moment, her dress got stepped on and tore.

Xie Qingwang appeared at that exact moment, an eighteen-year-old boy jumping from the audience onto the stage, draping his coat over her, then saluting her playfully before running off the stage.

At that moment, Ji Nian’s heart began to race—she fell madly in love with him.

For the next few years, she chased after Xie Qingwang relentlessly. Whenever he called, she went; whenever he was in trouble, she helped.

When he was sick, she braved the rain to buy medicine. When he got drunk, she snuck into the cafeteria to make him a hangover soup. When he got into fights, she took the hits.

On graduation day, she lost her mind and drugged him—forcing a night of intimacy, then demanded marriage.

Three years of marriage and a child later, she still hadn’t earned his love.

After a serious illness, Ji Nian awakened.

She realized she was nothing but a villainous supporting character in a CEO romance novel—and Xie Qingwang was the male lead. The class president he often praised was the female lead.

Her shameless pursuit had caused misunderstandings, preventing the male and female leads from developing a relationship during university.

After graduation, her underhanded methods caused the female lead to go abroad, and the male and female leads missed each other again.

During her illness, Ji Nian saw her destined ending as the villainous supporting character.

Frustrated with the male lead’s coldness, she sought comfort elsewhere, but her lover sold her to a club. Humiliated, she eventually committed suicide.

At the moment of her death, the female lead returned, and the main couple reunited, their love reborn.

The illness nearly killed Ji Nian. She was unwilling to accept this fate—she wanted to confront Xie Qingwang.

Unexpectedly, in his office drawer, she found that he still kept a photo of the female lead.

The photo had yellowed with age, touched countless times.

She even cried, imagining that on days he didn’t come home, he might be… well, indulging himself with that photo.

Ji Nian wouldn’t cheat—she would divorce.

Indeed, when she brought up divorce, he agreed without hesitation.

Unexpectedly, on the way to file the divorce, they were hit and thrown.

Today is December 10th. Only a few months into the semester, and she’s already known school-wide for chasing Xie Qingwang.

Posts mocking her reach thousands of comments.

For some reason, thinking about how Xie Qingwang never remarried the female lead and ended up dying on the road with her, Ji Nian felt a strange sense of satisfaction.

She chuckled softly.

Two girls chatting and smoking by the sink in a remote teaching building restroom were surprised to see someone.

“Who’s there? Get out!” a sharp voice demanded.

Ji Nian straightened her clothes, calmly pushed open the door, and said, “Ladies, next time you gossip, make sure your facts are checked.”

The sharp-eyed girl scowled and tried to approach but was held back. “Don’t be impulsive, Young Master Xie is nearby.”

“So what? Who does she think she is? You think he’ll intervene?”

Ji Nian stared at her face. “You look familiar. Your father is on the school board, right? That gentlemanly image of his—imagine if people knew his daughter smokes and talks trash.”

The girl’s face changed dramatically, realizing her father would be furious. Ji Nian left the restroom without further incident.

Turning a corner, a male voice startled her. She slipped near the stairs.

A pair of strong hands caught her waist and pulled her into an embrace.

“Weren’t you bold just now? Or are you just throwing yourself at me again?”

Ji Nian looked up into teasing eyes.

It was Xie Qingwang. Alive.

“You were eavesdropping in the girls’ restroom?” she said, pressing her hands against his chest to push him away.

Xie Qingwang didn’t expect her words, and laughed angrily, twisting her hands behind her back. “Do you think I wanted to hear?”

“How should I know what you wanted? Let go of me!”

Eighteen-year-old Xie Qingwang, like his twenty-five-year-old self, loved controlling her hands.

“Hey, it’s not a deserted place to act recklessly, you know!”

A voice downstairs caught her attention—it was Xie Qingwang’s friend, Fang Ruiming, always making chaotic comments when she was with Xie Qingwang.

“Should I book a room for Young Master Xie?”

Fang Ruiming approached, winking and leering at her. “And Ji just turned eighteen last month, so—”

Before he could finish, Ji Nian interrupted.

“So experienced… have you been to hotels with him a lot?”

The eighteen-year-old Ji Nian didn’t feel it, but the twenty-five-year-old Ji Nian did. Fang Ruiming never respected her, treating her like the opportunistic rich-seeking women around them.

“Let go! Don’t waste your time going to a hotel!” she said coldly to Xie Qingwang.

“Ignore him,” Xie Qingwang frowned, releasing her hands. “I didn’t—”

His words were cut off again.

Ji Nian rubbed her wrists, as if they had been touched by something filthy, then glared and walked away.

“Hey, what’s wrong with her?” Fang Ruiming complained.

Xie Qingwang shot him a glance. “I don’t want a second time.”

Fang Ruiming’s expression changed. “Sorry.”

Ji Nian clearly couldn’t tolerate jokes like this.
