Lu Zhaoye lowered his head, his deep, abyss-like eyes locking tightly onto the bold, audacious woman before him.

The lingering effects of the drug in his body were still raging. His reason told him he should throw this troublesome woman out.

But looking at her cunning, bright eyes… at the way she clung to him and refused to let go…Full novel: Reborn She Remarried a Local Tyrant Soft and Delicate on the Outside Yet She Single Handedly Transformed the Entire Family — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Lu Zhaoye suddenly laughed.

The smile tugged at his scar, making him look even more ferocious, yet it carried a reckless, unrestrained madness.

With a swift motion, he grabbed Su Wan’s wrist, his grip so strong it felt as though he wanted to crush her into his very bones.

“Su Wan, this is your choice.”

He leaned down and warned her in a dangerously low voice,

“Once you step into my door, if you ever try to run… I’ll break your legs.”

Not only was Su Wan unafraid, she even hooked her arm through his, smiling like a sly little fox who had just stolen a chicken.

“Sure, as long as you’re willing, big brother.”

Then she turned to the stunned Lu family and the onlookers, smiling brightly as she announced,

“Everyone, today’s wedding feast wasn’t for nothing. Although the groom has changed, I’m still the Lu family’s daughter-in-law. Tomorrow morning, I’ll go register the marriage with big brother then I’ll treat everyone to wedding sweets to celebrate me… abandoning darkness for the light!”

The sudden turn of events left the courtyard in dead silence for several seconds.

Lu Zhengguo trembled with rage, pointing at Lu Zhaoye like a withered branch shaking in the wind.

“This is rebellion… outright rebellion! You two shameless things! To dare behave like this in front of everyone !”

“Oh, Dad.”

Su Wan cut him off, still holding onto Lu Zhaoye’s arm, even leaning slightly into the man radiating danger, her face wearing a polite yet regretful smile.

“Calm down, it’s not worth ruining your health. Well then, big brother and I won’t disturb your family matters anymore. After all…”

She glanced at the still-bleeding wound on Lu Zhaoye’s leg, her tone softening with concern,

“Big brother hurt himself like this just to avoid touching his brother’s wife. I should hurry and take him back to dress the wound. A husband should be cared for by his own wife, right?”

“Y-you !”

Lu Zhengguo nearly choked on his anger.

“Don’t you dare!”

Before he could finish, the third son, Lu Gang, rushed forward with a fire poker, blocking their way.

Lu Ming also seemed to come back to his senses, clutching his torn clothes as he shouted,

“Su Wan, have you lost your mind, wanting to marry a man like him?!”

The mockery in Su Wan’s smile deepened as she was about to reply but Lu Zhaoye had already run out of patience.

He lifted his gaze, glaring at them, and roared,

“Get lost!”

Lu Gang froze, teeth clenched, yet his body inexplicably stiffened he couldn’t lift the fire poker no matter how hard he tried.

Seeing that no one moved, the redness in Lu Zhaoye’s eyes deepened. The heat inside him surged like magma, crashing against his restraint.

He suddenly stomped his foot.

Crack!

A heavy stone brick at his feet shattered under the force.

Fragments scattered, frightening the crowd into retreat.

“Whoever dares to block me this is what happens.”

After throwing out that murderous warning, Lu Zhaoye’s hand clamped around Su Wan’s waist like iron pliers. Half dragging, half carrying her, he strode through the crowd toward the shabby west wing room.

The crowd automatically parted, like the sea splitting no one dared provoke this “living demon.”

Only Su Wan, held so roughly, didn’t cry out in pain. Instead, she turned back and waved at the stunned crowd, smiling radiantly,

“Take your time chatting good night~”

…

Bang!

The door of the west wing slammed shut, cutting off the noise outside.

Almost the instant it closed, the fierce aura Lu Zhaoye had been forcing himself to maintain faltered.

He released Su Wan, staggering as if drained of strength, his back slamming heavily against the door. His rough breathing echoed loudly in the small space.

The room was unlit, only moonlight from outside outlining his figure like a dying wolf.

“Hiss…”

Su Wan stumbled a little from being dragged, steadying herself against the wall and rubbing her sore waist. Before she could speak, her wrist was seized again.

In a blur, she was slammed back against the door.

Lu Zhaoye’s burning face loomed close so close their noses nearly touched.

His entire body trembled slightly. Sweat slid down his sharp jawline and dripped onto her collarbone, making her flinch at the heat.

“Su Wan, are you insane?”

He gritted his teeth, his voice hoarse beyond recognition, each word squeezed out,

“Do you know how strong that drug is? Do you know if I hadn’t held back just now and took you, you’d be ruined?!”

He was angry.

Not because she made her own decision but because she had put herself in danger.

Su Wan’s eyes shimmered as she looked at the man so close to her.

In the dim light, his brow ridge was high, his eyes deep-set, his nose sharp like a blade.

His features were rugged, carrying a wild, untamed arrogance.

Especially those eyes long and sharp at the corners now tinged red from extreme restraint, making them even more breathtaking.

A long scar cut across his left cheekbone, but instead of diminishing his looks, it added a dangerous, rogue-like charm that made one’s legs weak.

It was a face that could make women’s hearts race yet too intimidating to look at directly.

In her previous life, it was this very man who had silently protected her for a long time.

Back then, she had feared him, avoided him until he died trying to save her. Only then did she understand the deep affection hidden beneath his harsh exterior.

“Ruined?”

Su Wan didn’t struggle. Instead, in that dangerous position, she slowly raised her free hand.

Her cool fingertips gently touched the scar on his cheek, tracing down along it before resting lightly on his dry lips.

The motion was as soft as soothing an irritable beast.

“Marrying trash like Lu Ming that would be ruin.”

Meeting his crimson gaze, her eyes flowed with emotion, her voice soft as water,

“As for you, big brother…”

She suddenly leaned close to his ear, her breath warm and teasing,

“Since we’re getting registered anyway… if you really can’t hold back, I wouldn’t necessarily mind.”

Lu Zhaoye’s pupils shrank.

The string of reason in his mind snapped.

Damn it!

This woman was a complete temptress!

“Damn.”

He cursed under his breath, abruptly releasing her as if she were something dangerous, stumbling back and knocking over a wooden chair behind him.

“Stay the hell away from me!”
