Song Zhoulin was somewhat surprised when he received Tang Yan’s phone call.

After all, Tang Yan despised Sheng Yanyu, and by extension, she hated and rejected any of his friends who were connected to him.

“What do you want from me?” Song Zhoulin came to the villa in person, having reported to Sheng Yanyu beforehand before arriving.Full novel: Reborn: That Possessive Yandere Tycoon Insists on Marrying Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

After all, Sheng Yanyu might appear normal on the surface, but deep down, he was abnormal to the extreme.

Any entanglement with Tang Yan was enough to touch that sensitive nerve of Sheng Yanyu’s.

Tang Yan didn’t beat around the bush either, saying directly: “Can you help me make a phone call to Sheng Yanyu?”

Song Zhoulin was momentarily stunned, blinking his eyes in slight bewilderment, even wondering if he was hearing things.

As if thinking of something, he immediately laughed: “A-Yu isn’t here, so there’s no need for you and me to put on an act, right?”

Tang Yan frowned: “Who’s acting with you?”

“Tang Yan, you studied medicine too. Although you studied traditional Chinese medicine, whether or not there’s something wrong with your brain, I think you should know very well!”

Song Zhoulin didn’t actually like Tang Yan all that much. After all, in his eyes, Tang Yan was completely someone who didn’t know what was good for her.

Moreover, she was completely blind to the truth!

Only Sheng Yanyu treated her like a treasure!

Song Zhoulin was usually an easygoing person in public, but faced with Tang Yan’s behavior at this moment, he was somewhat displeased: “The reason I said that day that you might have temporary memory confusion from a concussion was because I didn’t want to expose your little scheme and make A-Yu suffer.”

“If you had any conscience at all, you wouldn’t use this to provoke him, give him a sliver of hope, and then mercilessly push him into the abyss!”

“Tang Yan, ask yourself honestly—apart from insisting on keeping you here, has A-Yu ever hurt you? If you still remember the past at all, you shouldn’t torment him to death!”

Tang Yan furrowed her brows, about to explain, but before the words could leave her mouth, an icy voice rang out: “Song Zhoulin, you’ve overstepped your bounds!”

The two in the living room turned to look at the entrance. Sheng Yanyu had rushed back, covered in dust from the journey.

Seeing him, Song Zhoulin couldn’t help but twitch the corner of his mouth. He really did guard against people like a wolf protecting its prey.

Did he really think everyone would snatch Tang Yan away like a treasure?

Song Zhoulin felt somewhat speechless, but now that the man was back, there was no need for him to stay any longer.

He stood up and walked toward the door. Just as he was about to pause and exchange a few words with Sheng Yanyu, a figure flew over swiftly, bypassing him entirely and throwing herself into Sheng Yanyu’s arms.

“You’re finally back!” Tang Yan hugged him, tilting her head up to look at Sheng Yanyu with excitement.

Sheng Yanyu’s body stiffened slightly, his cold, hard facial features clearly betraying a hint of astonishment.

He had heard everything from her conversation with Song Zhoulin just now.

He thought that since Song Zhoulin had exposed her, she would surely back off and stop pretending.

But why was she still showing such intimate affection toward him?

Warm and soft in his arms, the familiar scent—the person he held closest to his heart—even with all his restraint, he couldn’t bring himself to push her away.

Song Zhoulin glanced at Sheng Yanyu’s tense expression, shook his head helplessly, and silently took his leave.

No matter how much was said, it was useless. When it came to Tang Yan, even if the road ahead led straight into the abyss, even if it meant being shattered to pieces, this man would still jump without blinking an eye!

The servants in the villa tactfully withdrew from the living room to attend to their own matters, leaving only the two embracing each other.

Tang Yan saw that he wasn’t speaking, so she couldn’t help but speak up again: “Sheng Yanyu, are you still angry with me? How about I apologize to you?”

The girl coaxed him in a soft, pleading tone. Sheng Yanyu’s entire body was tense as he lowered his head to gaze at her, dark light surging deep within his eyes.

Those shameful things that had been suppressed deep in his heart seemed ready to break free from their restraints and burst out.

“I’m not angry.” Sheng Yanyu’s voice was somewhat stiff, and he suddenly felt he couldn’t quite understand the girl before him.

“Then why are you avoiding me? You won’t even answer my calls.” She accused him, pouring out the anxiety of not being able to find him these past days.

Sheng Yanyu felt he must be hearing things.

Wasn’t her not being able to see him exactly what she wanted?

“I’ve been busy!”

After saying this, Sheng Yanyu realized his attitude had been too cold. Would she feel hurt and unhappy because of it? Just as he was agonizing over whether he should say something more, he saw Tang Yan ask with a smile: “Then next time you have to leave for something, can you tell me?”

Sheng Yanyu didn’t answer, only changing the subject: “Is there something you need from me?”

His voice was ice-cold, and his demeanor appeared distant and indifferent, as if he didn’t want to talk to her more than necessary.

Tang Yan didn’t back down because of his attitude. After all, nothing was more shocking than what she had witnessed with her own eyes!

In the past, their relationship had been like mutual torment. This time, she only wanted to be good to him.

Since heaven had given her this chance, she naturally had to seize it tightly!

“Sheng Yanyu, everything I said last time was true.” Tang Yan looked at him with complete sincerity. “Let’s be good to each other from now on, okay?”

Sheng Yanyu pressed his lips together, his hands hanging at his sides clenching tightly. He stared at her with a cold expression: “Tang Yan, what do you want?”

Perhaps if she directly stated her purpose, it would make him more comfortable than her pretending and probing like this.

A knife to the face was far easier for him to accept than a sneak attack from behind!

Sheng Yanyu’s defensiveness and distrust made Tang Yan sigh helplessly inwardly.

Sure enough, trust doesn’t cool in a single day!

Earning Sheng Yanyu’s trust was not going to be an easy task.

“I want you to have a meal with me.” Tang Yan gave him a sweet smile. “Sheng Yanyu, I haven’t even had breakfast today. I’m so hungry.”

Sheng Yanyu thought of what Sister Zhang had reported to him about Tang Yan’s condition this morning—she had eaten six soup dumplings, drunk a glass of soy milk, a bowl of white fungus and red date soup, two coconut butter toast slices, and a serving of egg custard.

Looking at the girl who was lying through her teeth with a perfectly straight face, Sheng Yanyu wisely chose not to call her out.

He simply let Tang Yan pull him over to the dining table to sit down.

Tang Yan’s enthusiasm ultimately made Sheng Yanyu uneasy. He stood up and said coldly to Tang Yan: “I’m going upstairs to change clothes.”

Without waiting for Tang Yan’s reply, he turned and headed upstairs.

Fifteen minutes later, Sheng Yanyu finally came back down from upstairs.

Just as Tang Yan was about to rush over and pull at him, Sheng Yanyu subtly sidestepped away and walked over to sit at the dining table.

Her hand hung empty in midair, and Tang Yan couldn’t help but furrow her brows slightly. Then she withdrew it with a smile and happily took a seat on Sheng Yanyu’s right side.

Once they were both seated, Tang Yan picked up food and placed it into his bowl.

Sheng Yanyu looked at the food in his bowl, his hand holding the chopsticks tightening with a bit more force.

This was the first time she had ever picked up food for him.

Tang Yan noticed he hadn’t moved, and suddenly realized something—the smile on her face froze for a brief moment.

Every dish was one she liked, yet she knew nothing about his preferences.

She had never bothered to understand him, but he knew everything about her inside and out.

What he gave was always the best, and always exactly what she wanted most.

The moment she thought of this, Tang Yan felt a dull ache in her chest, and her mood couldn’t help but sink a little.

“You don’t have to force yourself to do things you don’t enjoy.” Sheng Yanyu’s cold, hard voice rang out, carrying a hint of compromise: “Aside from leaving, I can agree to any other request you make.”
