His gaze softened noticeable s he reached for my hand.

“In that case we’ll tear down every lie they’ve built and make sure the world sees them for who they really are,” he said firmly.

I let my hand slip into his, clutching it tightly.

“And what about Mireille Beauty?

What am I supposed to tell them?”

“I will take care of it,” Damien said.

“Besides, it would be their loss if they choose to let you go.” He brushed his thumb across my palm, as if he wanted to feel every line of my lifeline.

“If one door closes, you can open another.

There will always be other chances for you, you are very talented after all.”

The way he said it, it almost felt like he was promising to hold those doors open himself or maybe even create the doors himself and after staring at him for a while, I realized, maybe he really meant it.

“Damien,” A sudden wave of emotion flooded through me and I had to hold back my tears so I wouldn’t break down again.

“Thank you.”

A faint smile touched his lips, making him look a lot gentler and softer.

“There’s no need to say that,” he replied.

“You’re my wife.

I’m just doing my duty to protect you.”

After making sure I would be alright, Damien left for his business trip promisimg to be back as soon as possible.

While he was gone, the news about Audrey’s deeds spread like wildfire, her face was plastered pretty much everywhere across headlines and social feeds.

Her perfect image crumbled piece by piece, replaced by the ugly truths she could no longer hide.

The same people who once threw cruel words at me now rushed to apologize in public.

Some even tried to reach me through social media, but since I had already deactivated all of Eliana’s old accounts, a while ago, they had no way of getting to me.

Meanwhile, Arthur, my supposed father somehow got my number and kept calling me again and again, but I blocked his number without hesitation.

Audrey and a few of her friends that also appeared in the videos, also spammed me with dozens of messages, pretending to be kind, apologizing and begging me to say that what they did to Eliana in high school was nothing more than a joke, so I also blocked their numbers. A joke, my ass.

Not long after, the system popped up again with a new notification.

[Mission of the Week (1/2)]

[Mission: Get 10k followers on Instagram!]

[Reward: 10 Fame Points, 25 Experience Points, $6,000]

[Time Limit: 4 days]

[Bonus: If Host can reach more than 15k followers, System will award a $15,000 bonus and a special gift]

[Note: You can not ask Damien to boost your video on Instagram]

I widened my eyes when I saw the mission.

“Hey system!

Does this mission even make sense to you?

How the fuck am I supposed to get 10,000 followers in the first place, do you know how difficult that is?!”

To make things worse, I couldn’t even rely on Damien this time, which meant the challenge would be twice as hard.

[Host, System would also give you a bonus if you surpass 15—]

I cut off the system before it could finish.

“It’s already impossible to get ten thousand, let alone fifteen thousand!” I snapped.

“And you only gave me four days?

System!, does that even make sense?

I don’t even have a new account yet!”

The reason I shut down all of Eliana’s accounts was because I wanted to cut ties with her past.

A completely new persona that belonged to me and not Eliana.

[Then you better start making a new one now, Host.]

“Ugh!” I ran a hand through my hair contemplating, Sophia, my manager had mentioned something about me working on my online image but I wasn’t sure if she had created a new account for me yet.

There was no point in thinking or contemplating about it any further, I simply grabbed my phone and sent her a message asking about it.

She replied a few minutes later saying she hadn’t done it yet, as she had been a bit swamped with work recently which if I thought about it properly, was probably all my fault.

She sent another message following the previous one, ‘If you really need an account right now, feel free to create one yourself, but kindly refrain from posting about any controversial topics.

I’ve found a few potential people that could work as your social media manager, but there’s still a lot to sort out before we pick anybody.

Once that’s handled your social media manager should be able to take over from there.”

I read through the message and let out a sigh of relief before tossing my phone back onto the bed, Sarah was really a top-notch manager, with her I practically had nothing to worry about.

Alright then, let’s make a plan.

First step: I needed a brand-new account.

It had to be completely clean, with no trace of Eliana’s past anywhere on it.

I was going to build my own persona, this time.

Then, second step: The content.

I couldn’t just throw up random pictures and hope for the best.

I had to grab attention quickly.

Something fun, something that would pull in thousands of followers in no time.

Third step: And then the godforsaken timing.

Four days wasn’t much at all, which meant every single post had to count.

Since I didn’t want to gain followers by playing on sympathy, I had to find another way.

I looked at myself in the mirror, my hands resting lazily on my waist, and my heart pounding in my chest.

“Alright, System,” I muttered under my breath, “let’s take a walk outside and see what we can do.”
