10 – The Wolf Cub Caught Red-Handed Secretly Delivering Medicine

After the school nurse had simply treated and bandaged the wound, she was quite surprised that Fu Yao showed no change in expression throughout the entire process and didn’t make a single sound of pain.

After all, having a chunk of flesh bitten off and then having medicine applied to it—the stinging sensation was something few people could endure without flinching.Full novel: Redemption! The Aloof Little Wolf Cub Is Obsessed With Me — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The nurse smiled and said, “You’re quite tough, aren’t you? Does it not hurt at all?”

Fu Yao shook her head. “It’s fine. My pain tolerance is pretty high.”

In truth, she was just used to this kind of pain. Physical pain had never been much of an issue for her.

The nurse stood there and asked another question, “Are you sure you don’t want to call your parents to take you to the hospital? You might need a guardian present if you end up needing surgery.”

Fu Yao shook her head again. “They’re very busy. No need to trouble them.”

The nurse sighed, “No matter how busy they are, they shouldn’t neglect something like this. You really are… Well, if it really comes to it, I’ll go with you to the hospital.”

Fu Yao maintained that perfect, sweet, harmless smile of hers—the kind that made anyone who saw it think she was a well-behaved girl.

“Thank you, teacher. But I’d like to use the restroom first, is that okay?”

The nurse sighed again and pointed her in the right direction.

“Be careful. Don’t let the wound get wet, or it could easily get infected.”

Fu Yao agreed and quietly made her way to the restroom.

As soon as she left, she had no idea that a tall, slender figure was silently standing at the entrance of the infirmary, carefully observing everything.

Afraid of being discovered, yet also worried that something serious might happen to the people in the infirmary, he was filled with complicated emotions—whether it was guilt or anger, he couldn’t tell.

Only after seeing Fu Yao leave the restroom did Jin Zhi quickly step into the infirmary.

The nurse was surprised. It was unusually busy today—two visitors in just a few minutes.

She got straight to the point and asked, “What seems to be the problem?”

Jin Zhi didn’t speak. He just stared at the nurse with a deep, unsettling gaze, his Adam’s apple bobbing slightly as he pressed his lips together, remaining eerily silent.

His stare sent a chill down the nurse’s spine, making her hair stand on end.

Feeling uneasy, she asked again, “What are you here for?”

Jin Zhi remained silent for a moment, then extended his hand and pulled out a bottle of medicine, swiftly thrusting it toward the nurse. Startled, she clutched her chest, struggling to catch her breath.

“For her… use it.”

He seemed to struggle with communication, finding it difficult to speak and unable to organize his emotions. His hoarse voice carried a hint of menace, like a wolf doing its best to restrain its aggression.

Looking at the bottle of medicine in front of her, the nurse was utterly confused. Still, she slowly raised her hand and took the bottle Jin Zhi had handed her.

As soon as she steadied her grip, the young man in front of her immediately turned and ran off, like a guilty breeze slipping away, disappearing from sight.

The nurse was left dumbfounded.

She examined the medicine—it was for treating bruises and sprains. But here, she only had students with flesh wounds, no one with bruises or sprains.

She glanced again at the now-empty doorway, her mind filled with confusion.

“So… who is this medicine for, exactly?”

Just as the nurse stood there in a daze, Fu Yao walked out, shaking the water off her hands and glancing at the teacher standing motionless.

“What happened? I heard some noise outside just now.”

The teacher turned to glance at Fu Yao, gesturing with the bottle of medicine in hand: “Just now, a very strange classmate gave me this medicine and said to give it to her. But since it’s a bruise and injury medicine, I don’t know who it’s for.”

Fu Yao was momentarily puzzled. When she heard “strange boy,” she vaguely had a guess and curiously walked up to the teacher.

“Can I take a look?”

There was naturally no issue with that. The teacher directly handed the medicine to Fu Yao for her to see.

Fu Yao took it and found that it was a type of bruise and injury medicine that was both expensive and highly cost-effective. It was brand new and hadn’t been opened yet.

An unusual emotion flickered in Fu Yao’s eyes. She tilted her head to look at the teacher and said with certainty, “This medicine is for me.”

The teacher: “Huh?”

Fu Yao continued to ask, “How long ago did that person leave?”

The teacher was still confused but pointed toward the door: “Just when you came out?”

After saying “thank you,” Fu Yao immediately ran out, seemingly trying to catch up with the fleeing boy.

Left alone in the infirmary, the teacher stood there, letting the breeze blow around, her expression growing increasingly bewildered. She made a face of utter confusion.

“Kids these days are so inexplicable. I really don’t understand them anymore.”

…

After stepping out of the infirmary, Fu Yao saw a dark figure dart away from the doorway like an arrow shot from a bow.

His slender back looked as if it could break with the slightest shake, but he ran so fast that it was impossible to catch up.

Fu Yao recognized who it was at a glance. After chasing a few steps without catching up, she had no choice but to shout loudly:

“Jin Zhi!”

The moment the boy heard the girl call out this name, he knew he had been recognized. A tingling numbness spread throughout his body, and for some reason, a sense of powerlessness washed over him, slowing his movements.

When the girl behind him was about to catch up, he wanted to run.

But a mysterious force seemed to entangle his legs, making his movements incredibly sluggish.

Fu Yao watched as the colors on the boy in front of her shifted from red to blue, and then to a guilty green. She immediately understood—he was conflicted.

Conflicted about whether to see her.

She stepped forward and patted Jin Zhi with her uninjured hand: “You still care about me, don’t you? Otherwise, you wouldn’t have brought me medicine.”

Besides, the medicine was quite expensive and still unopened. She sized Jin Zhi up and down, though she had questions in her mind, she didn’t voice them.

Jin Zhi didn’t turn around. If not for the complex colors on his body, Fu Yao wouldn’t have dared to assume he would respond to her.

She waited for him to speak.

He didn’t disappoint her: “I’m sorry, but… don’t come near me.”

With that, he tried to leave.

But Fu Yao grabbed him.

He stiffened all over, turning around with a fierce glare, hoping to scare Fu Yao away, just as he had scared off others who approached him.

Yet Fu Yao smiled sweetly as always, as if to melt everyone’s hearts, just like when they first met, making Jin Zhi almost let down his guard.

But then, a voice echoed in his heart: Don’t let her get close to you. Everyone will abandon you!

He grew guarded again and tried to run away.

Seeing this, Fu Yao grew anxious and shouted, “Wait! If you want to take responsibility, then you should see it through, right? You bit me, and it really hurts. You must have heard, didn’t you? I need to go to the hospital for stitches.”

Jin Zhi quickly composed himself again, stopping in his tracks. Only two words remained in his mind: “hospital” and “stitches.”

He knew that was a procedure required for severe, painful flesh wounds. He had bitten her, which was why she needed stitches.

Fu Yao approached him unhurriedly, her voice sweet and delicate: “I can’t use your medicine, and the hospital requires family accompaniment. My family can’t come, and my hand hurts too… Will you accompany me?”
