“But…”
“No ‘but.'”
Han Yue spoke with unusual seriousness.
“I don’t want to see anything happen to you.
Promise me you won’t go, okay?”
“And Alpha Team will be here very soon, so stop risking your life.
Go back, take a shower, and get some proper rest.”
“Then…
alright.
I’ll listen to you.”
Seeing how serious he looked, Rebecca finally stopped insisting.
Han Yue smiled, sat up, let out a long breath, and then turned to look at Rebecca lying beside him.
“What are you staring at?”
Being looked at so directly, Rebecca felt a little embarrassed.
“I’m looking at my girlfriend.
Is that not allowed?”
“You…
who’s your girlfriend?
I never agreed to that!” Rebecca let out a delicate shout and turned her head away, face flushed red.
“Let me look a little longer.
I want to carve how you look right now into my mind.”
Rebecca turned back toward him again.
A woman’s intuition told her something was off.
“I still feel like you’ve got something on your mind.
Can’t you tell me?”
Han Yue shook his head, his gaze dropping toward the mansion below the slope.
“Alright.
I should head back now.
You should go rest too.”
“After we part this time…
are we never going to see each other again?”
Rebecca suddenly asked the question without any warning.
Han Yue’s body stiffened.
The moment she saw his reaction, Rebecca stood up, panic already showing in her eyes.
“Tell me.
Is that it?”
Han Yue closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and slowly shook his head.
But it’ll be a long time.”
“How long?”
“A long time.”
Rebecca clenched her teeth.
“Why?”
“I can’t say.
I have my reasons.”
Han Yue’s expression turned heavy.
“You bastard…
damn you!” Rebecca could no longer hold back her emotions.
Her eyes were already red around the edges.
“If that’s the case, then why did you lie to me?”
“I’m sorry.”
After saying that, Han Yue pulled her tightly into his arms.
“I don’t want to hear you say you’re sorry.
I want the reason!”
Rebecca held back her tears, her reddened eyes fixed stubbornly on Han Yue.
“I’m sorry.
I really can’t say.” Han Yue lowered his head.
“Then at least tell me how long.”
“17 years…”
“17 years later?”
“No.
It’s 2017.
So…
nineteen years later.”
After saying those words, it was as if all the strength had been drained from Han Yue’s body.
He dropped straight to the ground and sat there.
He knew this was unfair to Rebecca.
But the plot of the game was not something he had written.
Hearing the answer, Rebecca could no longer hold back the tears gathered at the corners of her eyes.
They slipped down her cheeks and soon dripped onto the grass below.
Rebecca looked at Han Yue with swollen, reddened eyes.
The length of time she had just heard felt like a bolt of lightning splitting straight through her mind.
She had just experienced her first love.
And less than a day later, her first boyfriend was telling her that if they met again, it would only be after nineteen years.
How many nineteen years did a person even get in one lifetime?
And she was only eighteen now.
Rebecca stubbornly asked again.
As tears slid down her face, she felt as if her heart were about to shatter.
A long while later, she bit her lip, as if finally making some kind of decision.
Then she straddled Han Yue’s lap and stubbornly asked one more time why.
But the answer she got was still only Han Yue shaking his head.
Rebecca gritted her teeth and pushed Han Yue down onto the grass.
“Nineteen years…
how am I supposed to live through that?”
After saying that, she lowered herself and kissed him softly.
“Nineteen years is too long.
I don’t want you to forget me.”
……
Rebecca left.
Limping slightly, she headed in the direction of Raccoon City.
Han Yue looked at the patch of grass stained red on the ground.
After letting out a sigh, he bent down, pulled up a few blades of grass, and stored them inside his spatial inventory bag.
What had just happened was truly too cruel for Rebecca.
Because those nineteen years were her time, not his.
For Han Yue, every Resident Evil installment had its own heroine, and the timeline also jumped forward in huge leaps.
No matter how he looked at it, it was unfair to Rebecca.
But he had no way around it.
He sat there blankly for who knew how long.
Only when the sun was already hanging high overhead did Han Yue finally fail to endure the heat any longer.
He got up and headed back toward the mansion.
He had already cleared the route on the way there yesterday.
So the return trip went relatively smoothly.
When he got back to his room, Han Yue tossed the clothes—reeking of blood, gore, and foul stench—into a corner.
After taking a shower, he returned to the bed.
There was still a brutal battle waiting for him tonight.
He needed proper rest.
But the moment he lay down, his mind filled completely with Rebecca.
Even though both his body and his mind were already exhausted, Han Yue simply could not fall asleep.
After tossing and turning for a long time without any success, he finally gave up and opened the public chat window.
Since leaving the mansion last night, Han Yue had not paid attention to it at all.
Now he wanted to see how far everyone else had progressed.
And more than anything else, he wanted to know whether there was anyone here besides him who also knew the plot.
It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
