After confirming his identity yet again, Han Yue let out a faint, almost amused smile.

“Interesting…”

If his memory was correct, then the place he was in right now should be the setting of Resident Evil 1—the mansion.Full novel: Reincarnation Instance Choosing Resident Evil, Ada Is My Girlfriend — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

What he had not expected was that this Resident Evil instance was not based on the movies at all, but on the game universe instead.

Fortunately, aside from a few side entries, he had played nearly every title in the series.

And more importantly, he remembered the broad strokes of the plot with remarkable clarity.

……

The so-called mansion was, in truth, a research facility that Spencer had established back in 1962 under the guise of constructing a luxury vacation estate.

Its full name was the Arklay Research Institute.

And without needing to think very hard, anyone could guess what kind of work had really been carried out in a place like that.

Cruel experiments.

Inhuman experiments.

Experiments soaked in enough blood and misery to make the word “research” sound like a joke.

Among all of those tragedies, none was more infamous than what happened to the mansion’s architect, George Trevor, and his family.

Once the mansion had been completed, Spencer invited George Trevor and his family to visit, disguising the occasion as a celebratory tour.

But the invitation was really a trap—a banquet in the old Hongmen Banquet sense, a feast laid out with murder hidden beneath the hospitality.

During that visit, the entire Trevor family was injected with the virus.

Jessica Trevor, George’s wife, died outright.

George Trevor himself fared little better.

As the virus and torment slowly destroyed his mind day by day, he eventually degenerated into a zombie and was locked away beneath the mansion, left in the basement alongside a coffin and heavy iron chains like some grotesque monument to Spencer’s treachery.

Yet the most miserable fate of all belonged to his daughter, Lisa.

Because she successfully fused with the virus, Lisa gained a terrifyingly powerful regenerative ability.

And because of that one cruel stroke of “success,” she spent more than ten years being used over and over again as a living experimental subject.

To call her life miserable would be putting it far too lightly.

It was a hell beyond imagination.

As for the direct cause of the viral outbreak, that pointed back to “Queen Leech” Marcus.

Marcus, Spencer, and Edward were the three founders of Umbrella Corporation.

Not long after the company was established, Edward died in an accident.

Marcus, meanwhile, continued his research into the T-Virus at the executive training school located not far from the mansion.

But after he achieved results, Umbrella had two of his own students—Wesker and William Birkin, those two future in-laws—murder him.

After Marcus died, a mutated leech carrying the T-Virus crawled into his mouth.

Over the next ten years, it reconstructed Marcus’s DNA bit by bit, eventually forming an intelligent lifeform: Queen Leech.

But that creature stubbornly believed that it itself was Dr.

Marcus reborn, and from beginning to end it burned with only one obsession: revenge against Umbrella Corporation.

The tragedy at the mansion was its handiwork.

This stretch of the plot was something Han Yue knew like the back of his hand.

And the moment he spoke it aloud, the side quest to investigate the mansion was completed on the spot.

“This quest cleared a little too easily.

I wonder if I’m the first one to finish it.”

With that thought in mind, Han Yue opened the public chat window for reincarnators.

He had already seen this chat window back in the Reincarnation Plaza.

What he had not expected was that it would still remain available even after entering the instance.

But once he saw the messages other people were sending, he could not help feeling a flicker of surprise.

Because at this very moment, the other reincarnators—each looking at unfamiliar cities, unfamiliar surroundings, and unfamiliar identities—were all utterly dumbfounded.

Once inside an instance, every person would be randomly assigned an identity.

And that identity was not something crudely fabricated out of nowhere, either.

Rather, the system would slot them into the role of some person unrelated to the main plot.

Some became doctors.

Some became police officers.

Some were nothing more than ordinary salarymen and working stiffs trying to survive one day at a time.

And those with especially good luck, like Han Yue, could even start directly inside the mansion as Umbrella employees.

But without a single exception, every one of them was left completely bewildered after seeing the mission prompts.

“Where the hell is this?

Where’s the Hive?”

“Doesn’t Resident Evil 1 start in the Hive?

What is this mansion crap?”

“Holy shit, there are zombies all over this place!

I opened one door and got bitten immediately.

Am I turning into a zombie now?!”

“No saving that.

Just wait to die.”

“I just wanna ask one thing—where the hell is Alice?

No matter how I look at this, it doesn’t feel like the plot of Resident Evil 1 at all.”

“Damn this bullshit Reincarnation Space.

Did it use the same title on purpose just to screw us over?”

“Can somebody tell me where this place is?

Where’s Alice?!”

“Wuwuwu, I regret picking this instance.

Can someone please come save me?”

“Beginner instances are solo.

Who exactly are you expecting to come save you?

Besides, reincarnators are probably in a competitive relationship anyway, right?”

“If another reincarnator runs into you, you should thank your lucky stars if they don’t kill you on sight.

Better rely on yourself.”

“Good thing this great me had the foresight to choose an easy instance.

You guys can go die in there, hahaha.”

“Damn it, listen to this petty bastard showing off.

An easy instance only gives, what, a B-rank reward at best.

What’s the point?”

“A trash B-rank reward is still better than dying inside the instance.”

…

Reading the messages scrolling nonstop across the chat window, Han Yue suddenly felt as though happiness had arrived a little too abruptly.

It seemed that…

maybe…

nobody knew this was actually the game storyline?

Or perhaps the people who did know weren’t stupid enough to expose that fact in the public chat.

Whichever it was, the result remained the same: Han Yue now held an overwhelming advantage.

No longer interested in what the others were saying, he reached out, picked up the phone on the desk, and checked the time.

July 23rd.

6:30 PM.

That meant the instance had already been open for half an hour.

“At this point in time, the events of Resident Evil 0 should be just about to kick off…”

After muttering that to himself, Han Yue began flipping through the phone.

The phones of that era had only just started moving away from the old brick-like designs.

There were no fancy functions to speak of.

No internet.

No useful apps.

No smart features worth mentioning.

But as he scrolled through the contacts list, he found one name that immediately caught his eye.

Ada.

“According to this identity, she’s still my girlfriend right now.”

The corner of Han Yue’s mouth lifted slightly into a smile.

After thinking for a moment, he stopped hesitating and pressed the call button.

It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
