Are you alright?”

I’m okay, but you…

you killed him?!”

Han Yue immediately explained, “Miss, that man was a wanted criminal—Billy Coen.

He murdered twenty-three civilians.

Just now, I almost got killed by him too.

I didn’t have a choice.”

“I…

I know, but…” Rebecca still had not fully recovered from the danger of a moment ago.

Her breathing was uneven, and there was still a trace of lingering shock on her face.

“No ‘but.'” Han Yue’s expression turned grave as he held her steady with both hands.

“This place is far too dangerous.

There are monsters everywhere.

We need to get out of here as fast as possible.”

After saying that, he looked at her and introduced himself in a calmer tone.

“My name is John.

I’m a researcher at the Arklay Laboratory.

What should I call you?”

“My name is Rebecca.

I’m a member of S.T.A.R.S.”

The Rebecca standing before him had only recently joined S.T.A.R.S., and this was her very first true combat mission.

She was only eighteen.

At that age, she was brimming with youth—small, delicate, and undeniably adorable.

No one looking at her now would ever imagine that this same girl could fight her way out of the zombie-infested Executive Training School and, in the process, even help kill the mutated Queen Leech.

And the next day, she would go to the mansion too.

Before Wesker’s Alpha Team even arrived, she had already gone inside and “played around” in there for quite a while.

It could only be said that the protagonists of Resident Evil, no matter which installment you looked at, were all freakishly outrageous in their own ways.

Perhaps because Han Yue’s identity did not make him look dangerous the way Billy Coen had, Rebecca did not reject his support as he helped steady her.

Just as the two of them were preparing to leave the dining car, singing suddenly drifted in from outside the train.

The voice was strange, theatrical, and unnervingly out of place.

Following the sound and looking out through the window, they saw a mysterious man in flamboyant, exaggerated clothing standing alone atop a mountain ridge, singing into the night. The source of this chapter is novelping dot com.

Under the darkness, the whole sight looked especially eerie.

Han Yue knew very well who that man was.

It was Marcus—or rather, Marcus as reborn through the Queen Leech.

“Who is that person?”

Rebecca had barely voiced the question when, without warning, the train beneath their feet suddenly lurched and began to move for reasons unknown.

And right after that, an utterly shamelessly melodramatic soap-opera development unfolded.

Because of the train’s sudden movement, Rebecca lost her balance.

Her center of gravity tipped.

Her entire body pitched straight toward Han Yue.

At that moment, Han Yue’s attention had been fully drawn toward Marcus outside the window.

He had not expected Rebecca to suddenly crash into him like this.

He stumbled.

Then the two of them collapsed together onto a nearby seat.

Rebecca ended up completely sprawled on top of him.

The young girl, only eighteen years old, instantly flushed bright red.

Her pretty face turned pink all the way to her ears.

“S-sorry!” Rebecca hurriedly apologized and scrambled to her feet.

When a beauty takes advantage of you like that, does she really need to apologize?

Han Yue honestly wished Rebecca would “accidentally” do it a few more times.

Of course, there was absolutely no way he could say something like that out loud.

After standing up as well, Han Yue glanced back out the window.

Marcus’s figure had already disappeared.

He turned to Rebecca and said, “Let’s head to the driver’s cabin and take a look.

The train was probably started by someone.”

Rebecca did not object.

She simply nodded.

Outside the windows, torrential rain was already pouring down.

The two of them moved through carriage after carriage, making their way toward the front of the train.

Originally, according to the plot, Rebecca would have had to go through all sorts of switches, mechanisms, and operations before she could reach the engine.

But because Han Yue had come from the opposite direction, many of the doors along the route had already been opened, and the zombies along the way had already been cleared out.

Even so, the return trip was not without gains.

Han Yue found something useful: a shotgun, and a grappling gun.

As for the locked mechanisms and puzzle-solving nonsense that the games loved so much, Han Yue had absolutely no intention of obediently searching for proper solutions. This chapter is updated first at NovelPing.

He simply chose the most direct method possible.

Brute force.

If a lock was in the way, he broke it.

If something blocked the route, he smashed it open.

….

The people who had started the train were members of Umbrella’s U.S.S., a unit headquartered in Europe.

More precisely, they were Delta Team.

(If I remember right, HUNK should be the captain of Alpha Team.)

Their primary duties involved protecting facilities, safeguarding high-ranking Umbrella personnel, and carrying out all sorts of covert operations that required secrecy—things like recovering company assets, cleaning up evidence, and eliminating targets that threatened Umbrella’s interests.

At that moment, William Birkin and Wesker were monitoring the situation from the underground control room beneath the Executive Training School.

After learning of the viral leak, Wesker gave the order to destroy the train.

However, at almost the very instant that order was issued, the U.S.S.

personnel stationed in the driver’s cabin were attacked by leeches.

The entire squad was wiped out.

So by the time Han Yue and Rebecca finally reached that carriage, there was no trace of them left.

But with no one properly controlling the train, its speed only continued to climb higher and higher.

Even though Han Yue desperately tried to stop it, he still could not prevent the inevitable derailment.

The entire train shook violently.

The jolting became so intense that neither of them could remain standing.

Han Yue grabbed the seat beside him in a death grip, while his other arm wrapped around Rebecca to keep her from being thrown away.

And he swore—at this exact moment, he truly had no intention whatsoever of taking advantage of her.

In the end, the train still overturned onto its side inside a deep, gloomy tunnel.

Flames burst out.

The fire raged fiercely, casting the wrecked train in flickering red light.

Turning to the girl beside him, Han Yue asked with concern, “Are you alright?”

“I’m fine,” Rebecca answered, then looked at him more carefully.

“But you don’t seem to be doing so well.”

Han Yue lowered his gaze and saw the blood on his arm.

Then he smiled.

“It’s just a small injury.

Nothing serious.” He looked around at the overturned train and the burning wreckage, then added, “But right now, we should probably focus on finding a way out of this damn place.”

It’s not really mandatory—I’ll eventually upload all the chapters here—but it helps a lot in supporting me and allows me to dedicate more time to it.
