HELIO’S POV

On the ride back to the Salvador estate, I didn’t look at Nigel, who was sitting in the front passenger seat.

I could feel his glare through the rearview mirror.Full novel: Rejected The Alpha, Bound To The Wolfless Bastard — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

When we arrived, the two sentinels who sat beside me took me out of the car.

Rosalia stood beside Lorenzo and stared at me in confusion.

Lorenzo ordered the sentinels to take me to the cells.

I was dragged into the mansion and taken to the cell area underground.

One of the two sentinels took my knives and placed them around the waist belt of the sentinel uniform.

I was taken to an interrogation room, and I was tied to the chair.

His sentinels held me down and forced me to look up at him.

“What the fuck were you thinking!?” Lorenzo demanded and punched me in the face.

“Have you lost your mind!”

“Why would you get involved with the Ramirez Pack!? What were you even doing in that dressing room?!” He said and paced around.

“Do you have any idea just how close you were to starting a pack war!?”

I just looked up at him.

“Answer me!” He spat at me.

I remained silent.

“You wanted to start a war, didn’t you?” He scoffed.

He’s right.

I had hoped a pack war would start.

That’s why I went along with Rosalia’s lie about forcing her to bond with me.

Well, technically I had forced her.

A war would have distracted Lorenzo, and I could have a chance to run away with Mara.

Unfortunately for me, Lorenzo handled the situation with Alphonso extremely well and walked away unscathed.

He’s an alpha, after all.

What did I expect?

“You seem to have lost your mind the last couple of days,” Lorenzo went on.

“I thought bringing you along with me to my meetings would prevent you from causing trouble with your sister at the mansion,” he told me.

Mara is your sister too, I thought to myself.

“Give it a rest. There is nothing you can do to stop the marriage. This is your last warning,” he hissed.

If eyes could kill, I’d have been dead from his glare.

He then moved away from me and left the room.

“Do your job and ignore things that have nothing to do with you. It’s not that difficult.”

In fact, he would have killed me under normal circumstances.

Lorenzo left the room and the two sentinels followed after. Get faster updates on g.com.

I was left alone in the room.

‘She doesn’t even have the power, so what a waste!” I heard him say.

“Just put a target on our backs with the Ramirez Pack.”

If only you knew, I scoffed internally.

Rosalia had been keeping it a secret so I wouldn’t divulge it.

“Throw him in the cell,” Lorenzo ordered the guards.

“I’ll give you further instructions later.”

“Yes, sir,” the sentinels said.

After Lorenzo left the cells, the two sentinels came in and took me to a cell.

Lorenzo hasn’t killed me yet, which means bonding Rosalia has, in fact, protected me to an extent.

If Mara’s mother knew what I’d done to Rosalia, she would be so disappointed in me.

I was only watching Rosa at her wedding to follow up on the events of the engagement part.

Whilst Lorenzo was in the ceremony, I took advantage of the time I had to wait outside the temple to search for Rosalia.

I knew something was up when her sister entered the dressing room; someone who looked like Rosalia exited the room and suspiciously locked the door behind them.

I listened in and was shocked to hear her discussing forming a bond with the David guy.

That’s when I thought I could use this opportunity.

I should form a bond with her.

I could get a chance to use her power or perhaps start a war.

The decision was impulsive.

We reached the cell, and one of the sentinels took out the keys to unlock it.

I noticed my knives at his waist.

“Can I use the bathroom before you put me inside?” I asked.

“Do you think this is a hotel? Use the one inside the cell!” One of them said.

“No, wait, please,” I said.

I moved closer to him, pretending to cause a fuss.

“Get inside!” He yelled at me and shoved me forward into the cell.

In that moment, I took advantage of the distraction and grabbed one of my knives.

I fell face down onto the floor of the cell, hiding the knife I stole with my body.

I need to talk to Rosalia.

She’s probably confused and upset by the situation.

However, a part of me felt a little nervous at the thought of talking to her.

Seeing her lie and manipulate the situation at the temple was shocking.

She was a terrifying woman.

But leaving the cells will be hard.

Down the hall from my cell, a third sentinel had joined the sentinels who brought me.

“I heard the bastard bonded with Alpha Ramirez’s woman,” I heard him ask.

“Yeah, we just put him in the cell now.”

“How bold of him.”

“Where’s Rosalia now?” The other asked.

“He’s keeping her near his office,” I heard the other answer.

I turned back to my cell and went to the back.

I eyed the only section where light entered the room.

It was a small window.

The last time I was in here, I considered an escape from there.

However, it’s too high up and a tight squeeze.

Touching the wall with one hand, I brought up the knife.

I began making crevices using it.

Just enough that my fingers could fit and I could climb up.

ROSALIA’S POV

I bit my nails as I paced back and forth.

Lorenzo hadn’t come to see me since we arrived.

‘That wolf-less bastard.’ Lorenzo’s words played again and again in my mind.

Helio was wolf-less?

That would explain why I couldn’t sense his wolf during the bond.

Even if he couldn’t shift, he still had wolfblood, so the bond would work.

But why was he trying to start a war?

How would that help him achieve his goals?

There’s someone I have to save.

I recalled his words to me in the dressing room.

I felt a sudden gust of wind enter the room.

I turned toward the many windows and found one open.

A tall figure in a sentinel uniform stood there.

His long red hair flowed dramatically in the breeze.

Helio.

“Where did you—How did you—” I asked in shock.

I stepped back.

We were on the 3rd floor; did he climb up here?

“Relax, I just came to talk,” he said, closing the distance between us.
