ROSALIA’S POV

I almost scoffed.

I felt a pulsing in my heart from our bond now that we were physically close.

Lorenzo had Helio sent away as soon as we arrived at the estate.

From his entrance something tells me he shouldn’t be here right now.

I looked at the door, contemplating if I should call the guards.

“Please,” he begged.

He had noticeably more scratches and bruises than the last time I saw him.

As much as I was nervous I wanted answers.

“Explain yourself. Why have you dragged me into Salvador!?” I interrogated him.

“You lied to me!”

“I didn’t lie to you.”

“You handed me straight to Lorenzo!” I hissed.

“I acted alone. I’m sure you’ve noticed how Lorenzo treats me,” he said.

“I didn’t mean to interrupt your plan, but fundamentally nothing has changed. You still got what you wanted. A sentinel.”

“Are you joking? I wanted an ordinary sentinel, and you’re related to Alpha Salvador. That’s far from an ordinary sentinel!”

“I didn’t mention I was his half-brother, but my ranking is the same as an ordinary sentinel.”

“You can’t be serious,” I scoffed.

I glared at Helio as he towered over me.

His frame was imposing, but some part of me dared to confront him.

“I know I forced the bond on you, and I apologise. But I haven’t told him about your ability. I haven’t told anyone about it either.”

“Oh, because you want it for yourself?” I asked, agitated, and folded my arms.

“What is your plan with me? Who’s the person you want to save?”

He was silent for a moment.

“My sister.”

Lorenzo Salvador had another sibling?

“She’s trapped in the mansion. Lorenzo’s selling her off…” He sounded reluctant to give off more information.

“How am I supposed to help?” I asked.

“You are rumoured to have a power that can bring prosperity…”

“And you thought that meant I could help!? You do realise I’m not some fairy godmother who makes wishes come true, right!?” I snapped.

He got me involved in this whole Salvador situation based on a hunch?

“I didn’t know what you could or couldn’t do. But it was a gamble worth risking.”

“Worth risking for who!?” I snapped.

He winced as if he realised how he sounded.

“I understand you’re mad, and I don’t expect you to trust me,” he started.

I don’t.

“At the very least, I can assure you that Lorenzo won’t harm you. I’m certain of it. He has to keep you here as a formality after the Alphonso situation, but he might eventually let you go. He doesn’t know about your power, so he has no reason to keep you for long.”

“Might!? That’s not reassuring,” I told him.

He was silent as he observed me.

“What do you mean?”

“What did you sense during our bond about my power?” The bond should have given him a glimpse of my power.

“I saw visions, I think. I couldn’t tell,” he said.

“Exactly, I’m a seer; I see visions. Not exactly a power that can break someone free,” I told him.

“I can’t help you.”

He looked disappointed.

Exactly, you idiot.

You did this all for nothing.

“Why don’t you just sneak into where she’s being kept and grab her the same way you snuck in here to see me?” I asked him.

“Why didn’t you just run away from Alphonso? Why did you come up with such an elaborate plan to get away from him?” He pointed out.

I had no answer for him.

My lips pressed together as I recalled how Alphonso threatened to find me if I ran.

“Why don’t you have a scent…” I started to answer, but the door to the room suddenly opened.

I turned and found Lorenzo entering the room.

Nervous, I glanced back at Helio, but he was already gone… the window he had come from still wide open.

How does he do that!?

I wondered.

“Ms Moncaro,” Lorenzo said as he drew closer to me.

Meeting his golden eyes.

He and Lorenzo somehow looked so similar and so different at the same time.

“Alpha Salvador,” I said.

Could he sense Helio’s presence?

Please have a seat,” he said and pointed towards the couches.

I followed his instruction and sat down.

Lorenzo didn’t seem alarmed.

Helio’s lack of a scent helped immensely.

“I would like to continue our conversation from earlier. As I told you this morning, you will be a guest of Salvador,” he said and sat on the couch opposite mine.

“For how long?” I asked.

He adjusted the cufflinks of his expensive suit.

“Until this situation dies down. I apologise for the situation. I’m sure you’re nervous,” he told me.

“However, there is no need for concern. Your stay here will be pleasant.”

Lorenzo was terrifying, just like Helio.

However, Helio had more of an unhinged energy.

Lorenzo was more controlled.

“All your necessities will be provided for. If there is anything you need collected from your house since we left the temple rather abruptly. I can send someone to collect your things. However, you cannot go yourself,” he said.

I wasn’t allowed to leave at all.

“I understand, Alpha Salvador.”

He stood up from his seat, and the cufflink from his suit dropped to the floor.

As he walked past me, I eyed the cufflink.

Lorenzo went to the window and closed the window Helio had opened.

I picked up the cufflink and hid it in my bra.

Lorenzo returned to his seat.

My heart was hammering in my chest.

He didn’t seem to notice anything.

Thank goodness.

“Do you have questions?’ he asked me.

“What’s going to happen to the man I bonded?” I asked him.

His eyes darkened at the question.

“Don’t worry yourself about that.”

He did not like Helio.

Sudden warmth spread through my hands.

Goosebumps ran down my arms as the thought of Lorenzo seeing my power came to mind.

“I feel like I’m about to be sick; can I use the bathroom?” I said, trying to sound overwhelmed.

A surprised look was on Lorenzo’s face.

“…Of course, one of the omega servants can take you,” he replied.

“They’ll lead you to your room once you’re done. I’ll see you again soon.”

Trying to stay calm as I was led out of the room and taken to the bathroom.

I tightly held my arms as I increasingly felt the warmth increase.

I couldn’t get caught like this.

I felt a wave of relief as I closed the bathroom door behind me.

My power took over and a vision played in my mind.

**********************************

“The trade route into Portugal will be secured. The distribution centres and distillery will also be at your disposal,” the man said.

“Fantastic,” Lorenzo said.

“I can finalise the full payment in two weeks.”

“Can I see the merchandise?” The man asked.

“Of course,” Lorenzo agreed.

He gave a wave of his hand to an attendant in the room, and they opened the doors.

A young girl with the same fiery red hair as Lorenzo’s was brought in by a sentinel.

The man’s face lit up as he stood up from the seat and went to her.

He touched her hair, and the girl flinched.

“She has Salvador blood, can shift, and has a strong wolf. Exactly as I promised you,” Lorenzo listed off like a salesman.

“Good,” he said.

The scene changed, and this Alpha Mendez had left the office.

It was only the girl and Lorenzo in the office.

They stood in front of each other.

“You promise that you won’t hurt my brother?” she begged.

“Will you behave for Alpha Mendez?” He asked as he placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Yes, Alpha,” she said.

“Good, then you have nothing to worry about,” he said.
