For some reason, he couldn’t shake the feeling that although Yun Mojiu’s appearance hadn’t changed, the aura she exuded was entirely different.

Today, she wore a new-style Chinese white floral-print maxi dress, her sleek black hair elegantly pinned up with a jade hairpin. The look was graceful yet undeniably refined and noble.

Paired with her cool, detached eyes, she carried an air of aloofness and mystery that made people instinctively want to unravel her.Full novel: Remarried to the Capital’s Elite: I Use Metaphysics to Rule! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Yun Mojiu.”

He couldn’t help but call out to her.

“What is it?”

Yun Mojiu turned, casting him an indifferent glance.

Her frosty gaze held not a trace of emotion.

Xie Jingling was momentarily speechless.

“Uh… be careful on your way.”

“Mm.”

Her eyes remained icy.

How ironic.

In the past, Xie Jingling had never once spoken a word of concern to her.

Who would have thought the first time he did would be after their divorce?

She turned away calmly, as if Xie Jingling were nothing more than a passing stranger.

Watching Yun Mojiu’s composed retreating figure, Xie Jingling felt an inexplicable pang in his heart.

He couldn’t quite put his finger on what was wrong with him.

Before coming here, he had worried that Yun Mojiu might pull some last-minute trick and suddenly back out.

But not only had she not gone back on her word, she had cooperated fully throughout the entire process so much so that it seemed she was even more eager than he was to finalize the divorce.

Everything had gone exactly as he’d wanted, yet for some reason, seeing Yun Mojiu’s detached attitude toward the divorce left him with a vague sense of loss.

Just as he was stewing in his thoughts, he noticed a man in a suit approach Yun Mojiu, holding a vibrant bouquet of roses.

Exquisitely wrapped, they were undeniably beautiful.

Then, he heard the man say, “Miss Yun, these are from our CEO. He’s been waiting for you and would like to invite you to lunch to celebrate your return to singlehood.”

The man gestured toward a Rolls-Royce parked by the roadside.

It was a limited-edition model, one of only ten in the world.

Next, he watched as Yun Mojiu walked toward the car.

The door opened, revealing a glimpse of a young man seated in the back. Though his features weren’t entirely clear, his overall demeanor exuded an air of lazy sophistication, unmistakably distinguished.

Yun Mojiu took her seat beside the young man, while the man who had delivered the flowers slipped into the driver’s seat.

The door closed, cutting off his view.

Then, in an instant, the car sped past him, leaving only a trail of exhaust in its wake.

Xie Jingling’s expression darkened.

Since when had Yun Mojiu gotten acquainted with such a wealthy man?

No wonder she had gone from being infatuated with him one moment to divorcing him without hesitation the next.

So, she had already found someone better!

Celebrating her return to singlehood?

Was she really in such a hurry to throw herself into another man’s arms?

For some reason, a surge of anger flared up inside him.

He was… furious!

It felt as though something that had once belonged to him had suddenly slipped from his grasp, snatched away by someone else.

“Bro, did you finish the paperwork with that woman?”

Just then, Xie Tongtong walked over, arm in arm with Sun Xiaoxuan.

The three of them had come together.

While Xie Jingling was handling the divorce, the two women had been idly shopping at a nearby mall.

“Yeah.”

Xie Jingling responded, though his tone was noticeably off.

“Bro, what’s wrong? You look kind of angry.”

As if suddenly remembering something, Xie Tongtong quickly added, “Is it because that woman refuses to divorce? I knew it! She was definitely pretending before, she couldn’t bear to let you go!”

“No, the papers are already finalized.”

Xie Jingling took out the divorce certificate.

Couldn’t bear to let him go?

Hah, she was more than willing!

Recalling Yun Mojiu’s icy demeanor throughout the process and how she later stepped into a luxury car, Xie Jingling’s gaze darkened.

For a moment, he actually wished Yun Mojiu had stubbornly refused the divorce, clinging to him and begging him not to leave her.

“That woman actually agreed to divorce?” Xie Tongtong pouted. “She really walked away without a single penny?”

She was about to ask more, but noticing Xie Jingling’s expression shift, she obediently shut her mouth.

Sun Xiaoxuan suddenly let out a muffled groan, clutching her stomach.

“What’s wrong?”

Xie Jingling snapped back to reality and quickly steadied her.

Right, he could finally be with his Xiaoxuan now. He loved Xiaoxuan, and she loved him. They even had a child on the way, he should be happy.

He really shouldn’t be wasting his thoughts on Yun Mojiu.

“It’s nothing, just the baby being a little playful, kicked me just now,” Sun Xiaoxuan said with a smile.

Then, her eyes flickered as she tentatively asked, “By the way, Jingling, about what I mentioned before, my dad’s overseas company needs some funds for cash flow. You don’t have a problem with that, right?”

Xie Jingling affectionately ruffled her hair. “Silly, of course not. Don’t worry, I’ll transfer the money in a couple of days.”

“Mhm.”

Sun Xiaoxuan immediately wrapped her arm around Xie Jingling’s.

“Jingling, you’re so good to me! Don’t worry, my dad said once this project succeeds, the company will reach new heights. He’ll pay you back double your investment.”

“Got it. Why would I ever doubt you?”

“Then let’s go get our marriage license now,” Sun Xiaoxuan said with a smile.

Xie Jingling lovingly took her hand. “Alright.”

The two walked toward the Civil Affairs Bureau.

They had planned to register their marriage as soon as Xie Jingling finalized his divorce with Yun Mojiu.

When they reached the counter, a staff member asked, “What can I do for you?”

It was the same clerk who had processed Yun Mojiu and Xie Jingling’s divorce earlier.

She remembered Xie Jingling quite well.

After all, he and Yun Mojiu were a striking pair, one handsome, the other beautiful, both carrying an air of distinction that was hard to forget.

“My partner and I are here to register our marriage.”

“What? What partner? Didn’t you just get divorced? What marriage license?”

As soon as Xie Jingling finished speaking, the clerk’s face twisted in shock.

Only then did she notice Sun Xiaoxuan standing beside him.

Seeing Sun Xiaoxuan’s slightly rounded belly, her expression turned as if she’d swallowed something foul, utterly speechless.

Holy crap, getting remarried right after a divorce, and the mistress is already this far along?

This guy looks decent on the outside, but who knew he was such a scumbag!

Ugh!

I’ve seen trash, but never this trashy!

What a piece of work!

Disgust and indignation flashed in the clerk’s eyes.

Her tone instantly turned frosty.

“Go for a premarital health check first,” she said flatly.

“Where’s the examination area?” Sun Xiaoxuan asked.

The clerk didn’t even glance at her, merely tilting her chin.

“Over there.”

“Could you give us a more precise location?”

“It’s right there. Can’t you find it yourself?”

The staff member spoke somewhat impatiently, then pretended to be busy typing on the computer.

She had always despised scumbags and homewreckers the most, and now she had encountered a pair right in front of her.

No wonder she couldn’t muster a pleasant expression.

In the end, Xie Jingling and Sun Xiaoxuan walked out of the civil affairs office with dark expressions.

There wasn’t a trace of joy from having just gotten married.
