Yun Mojiu cast a fleeting glance at the other person.

“You’d be better off going home to check on your mother than wasting time here laughing at me.”

Wu Minyi frowned. “What do you mean?”Full novel: Remarried to the Capital’s Elite: I Use Metaphysics to Rule! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“Your mother is about to die a miserable death,” Yun Mojiu said calmly, without urgency.

“You’re cursing my mother!”

Wu Minyi’s face darkened instantly.

His mother was perfectly healthy, with no illnesses or pains, how could she possibly die a miserable death?

Wasn’t Yun Mojiu just deliberately trying to upset him?

“Fine, Yun Mojiu! You got dumped, and now you’re taking it out on me? If you’ve got the guts, go pick a fight with Xie Jingling! What’s the point of lashing out at me?”

“If you don’t believe me, go home and check, see if there’s a green-eyed black cat locked up somewhere.”

“Ha!”

Wu Minyi scoffed as if he’d heard the biggest joke of his life.

“I’ve been allergic to cat fur since I was a kid. My family has never kept cats!”

“Oh, really?”

Yun Mojiu shrugged indifferently.

She had given her warning.

Life and death were fated, it was all destiny.

If he refused to believe her, there was nothing she could do.

“Hey, you think you can just walk away? Explain yourself!”

Seeing Yun Mojiu turn to leave, Wu Minyi angrily reached out to grab her.

But before his hand could touch her, it was swatted away by a large palm.

He was about to erupt in anger when he looked up and met Xiao Junhe’s cold, sharp gaze.

He froze.

Wasn’t this… Xiao Junhe, the young master of the Xiao family, one of the top-tier elite families in the capital?

The capital had four major elite families: the Xiao, Shen, Gu, and Tang families.

These four families had long histories and deep-rooted foundations.

But their areas of influence differed.

The Shen family had freakishly good genes, their children were numerous and outstanding, excelling in almost every field.

The Gu family dominated politics, reigning supreme in that arena.

The Tang family was an unrivaled force in the military.

As for the Xiao family, they were practically synonymous with business, not just in the capital, but throughout the entire country.

Their commercial empire spanned the nation and even extended to multiple foreign countries, making them an undisputed business giant with wealth that rivaled nations.

Xiao Junhe was currently the sole heir of the Xiao family.

Even if you combined ten families like his and Xie Jingling’s, they still wouldn’t measure up to the Xiao family.

“President Xiao, you’re here for a meal too?”

He had been fortunate enough to meet Xiao Junhe once before.

Though they were around the same age, the difference in status made Wu Minyi’s demeanor instantly more deferential.

Xiao Junhe didn’t even spare him a glance, turning his attention to Yun Mojiu instead.

“Are you alright?” he asked.

Yun Mojiu shook her head. “I’m fine.”

“Then let’s go.”

“Mm.”

Watching the two walk away side by side, Wu Minyi was dumbfounded.

Yun Mojiu actually knew Xiao Junhe!

And they seemed to be quite familiar with each other.

What exactly was their relationship?!

Could it be that there was more to Yun Mojiu’s divorce from Xie Jingling?

That it wasn’t Yun Mojiu who got dumped, but Xie Jingling who was abandoned?

But the version he’d heard was different.

What the hell was going on?

Xiao Junhe escorted Yun Mojiu to the entrance of her neighborhood before leaving.

Yun Mojiu had originally planned to head straight home, but she suddenly noticed a shop across the street at the corner, where someone was clearing out items. A sign reading “Shop for Rent” was pasted on the door.

She raised an eyebrow slightly.

It seemed like it was time to find something to do.

She walked over.

“Boss, are you closing the shop?”

The boss was a middle-aged woman with a slightly plump figure.

She looked up from her busy work and, seeing a pretty young girl, smiled faintly. “Yes, everything’s being cleared out at a very low price. Take a look and see if there’s anything you can use.”

The shop was a small supermarket, filled with a variety of goods, and the shelves were plastered with discount tags.

Yun Mojiu got straight to the point. “I’d like to rent this shop. How much would it cost?”

Hearing this, the boss immediately brightened up.

The sublease notice had been posted for several days, but no one had come to inquire.

Still, she decided to be honest.

“Miss, this shop is in a remote corner, and most people don’t even wander over here. Although the rent isn’t too expensive, without customers, running a business here is a dead end. So, if you’re thinking of renting, you’d better consider carefully before making a decision.”

She had initially been drawn to the low rent, but with so few customers, she couldn’t make a profit and had no choice but to close.

Yun Mojiu smiled slightly at her well-meaning advice.

“Mm, thank you for the reminder, but I think this shop is quite nice.”

What she needed wasn’t a crowd.

Those destined to come would find their way; those without fate would be useless even if they came.

Fewer people meant more peace and quiet.

Seeing Yun Mojiu’s attitude, the boss didn’t press further and immediately gave her the landlord’s contact information, even kindly helping her get in touch.

The landlord arrived quickly, bringing the rental contract with him.

He was around sixty years old, dressed in a gray Zhongshan suit.

His face bore the marks of time, but it gave him a kindly appearance.

“Young lady, the rent is eight thousand a month, excluding utilities. Any questions?” the landlord asked with a warm smile.

Other shops in the area started at, at least ten thousand a month, so his eight thousand was quite a bargain.

“Mm, no problem.”

In the capital, eight thousand a month for a shop was indeed not expensive.

The landlord handed over the contract. “Then let’s sign the agreement.”

“Not so fast.” Yun Mojiu paused, then asked, “Uncle, do you have a grandson at home?”

The landlord was taken aback. “How did you know?”

After a moment, he added, “Oh, did Xiao Zhang tell you?”

The supermarket owner, Zhang Shufen, quickly waved her hands. “I didn’t say anything.”

“Then…”

The landlord looked at Yun Mojiu in confusion.

“To be honest, I’m renting this shop to tell fortunes and read faces,” Yun Mojiu explained.

“Just now, I did a reading for you. Your grandson will face a calamity today. If this calamity isn’t resolved, he’ll never be able to stand up again.”

“Nonsense!”

The landlord’s friendly expression instantly darkened.

He abruptly stood up and snatched back the rental contract.

“I thought you were a young person trying to make a living, so I was willing to give you a good deal. But I never expected you to be so malicious, cursing my grandson the moment you arrived! I won’t rent to you anymore! Get out!”

With that, he tried to shoo her away.

He had only one grandson, whom he treasured dearly.

Anyone who spoke ill of his grandson would set him off.

And here was Yun Mojiu, claiming his grandson would face some calamity and might even become disabled.

No one would take that well, least of all a doting grandfather like him.

That he didn’t grab a broom to chase her out was already a testament to his restraint.

“If you don’t believe me, you can call your grandson’s kindergarten right now and have them check the transportation vehicles.”

Upon hearing this, the landlord’s expression froze.

He eyed Yun Mojiu suspiciously.

How did she know his grandson would be taking the kindergarten’s transportation today?

Normally, the family would pick him up, there’d be no need to use the vehicles arranged by the kindergarten.

But today, his grandson’s class was going on an outing, and they had chartered several buses.

“Fine, I’ll make the call. But if there’s nothing wrong, don’t blame me for giving you an earful!”

He snorted and pulled out his phone.
