After wandering the streets for a long time, Yun Mojiu finally found an old shop selling authentic yellow paper and cinnabar.
Once she had made her purchase, she hailed a taxi and returned to the hospital.
Xiao Junhe was in the VIP ward on the top floor.
Two bodyguards stood at the door.
Not in the mood to waste time explaining, Yun Mojiu flicked out two immobilization talismans, freezing the bodyguards in place.
Then, she pushed the door open and walked in.
“You’re here.”
As the door opened, Xiao Junhe, who had been standing with his back to it, facing the window, turned around.
When he saw the motionless bodyguards at the door, a flicker of surprise flashed in his eyes.
But that surprise quickly faded.
“Mhm.”
Yun Mojiu responded indifferently and walked toward the bed.
There lay another Xiao Junhe, his physical body.
At the moment, the body lay quietly on the bed, eyes tightly shut.
Yun Mojiu took out the yellow paper and cinnabar and began drawing talismans.
Xiao Junhe walked to her side and watched silently.
The afternoon sunlight streamed through the window, casting a slanted beam that happened to fall on Yun Mojiu’s face.
Her delicate skin looked as if it could be pierced with a touch, her long lashes fluttering slightly. Those beautiful, calm eyes added a touch of mystery and timeless grace to her entire face.
Xiao Junhe stared, momentarily lost in thought.
“It’s you!”
Suddenly, a surprised voice came from the doorway.
Yun Mojiu turned to look and saw a head of bright red hair.
It was the young man she had met earlier on Antique Street.
He pushed the door open and looked at her as if she were some heartless villain.
“You… Wait, why is Xiao Junhe here?”
He had been about to say something else, but upon seeing Xiao Junhe lying on the bed, he raised an eyebrow and stopped in his tracks.
“You know him?”
He jutted his chin toward the bed, asking Yun Mojiu.
“Sort of.”
Yun Mojiu answered casually, her hand continuing to draw without pause.
“What are you drawing?”
“A talisman.”
“A talisman? Are you a mystic?”
“Mhm.”
“So young!” Shen Fan exclaimed in surprise again.
“I heard Xiao Junhe couldn’t walk anymore, and now he’s lying here. He’s not… about to kick the bucket, is he?!”
Otherwise, why would he be so desperate as to seek out some unreliable mystic like her?
She looked way too young!
All the truly capable masters had long, unkempt beards.
Besides, he’d heard the Xiao family had already consulted every doctor and master, domestic and international, to treat Xiao Junhe, all to no avail.
Hiring someone this young now? What else could it be but a last-ditch effort?
Hearing this, Yun Mojiu’s hand paused slightly.
She smirked. “Aren’t you afraid he’ll come after you later for saying he’s about to die to his face?”
“Pfft, what’s there to be afraid of? He can’t hear me,” Shen Fan waved dismissively.
“Is that so?”
Yun Mojiu slowly glanced at Xiao Junhe’s spirit standing beside her and smiled meaningfully.
Seems like… he can hear you just fine.
A phone ringtone suddenly cut through the air.
Shen Fan answered it.
“Hey, bro, I’m here. Where are you?”
“Got it, I’ll be right there.”
After hanging up, he was about to leave when he suddenly stopped.
He had just remembered why he’d come in here in the first place.
Turning back to Yun Mojiu, he said, “Hey, you still owe me an apology for selling me out earlier.”
If she hadn’t revealed his location, that crazy woman wouldn’t have chased him for two whole blocks!
He’d nearly collapsed from exhaustion!
“What are you apologizing for? Did I do anything to wrong you?” Yun Mojiu shrugged.
“You… you… you… How dare you deny it!” Shen Fan gritted his teeth. “Didn’t I signal you not to reveal my location back then?”
“Did you?”
“Yes!”
“Oh, didn’t see it.”
“That’s it?” Shen Fan was stunned.
“What else?”
Shen Fan: !!!
What did he mean by “what else”?!
She had tricked him, and he was furious, yet she acted completely oblivious.
It was like punching cotton, utterly infuriating!
“However,” Yun Mojiu suddenly added, “Given our shared fate, I’ll kindly remind you. Your eyelids are tinged with blue, and your forehead bears a dark aura. Today, you’d best stay away from vehicles, or you’ll face bloodshed.”
She handed him a talisman and a slip of paper with a phone number.
“Call me if you ever need help in the future.”
This man was shrouded in black energy, plagued by misfortune, a clear sign of impending calamities.
Moreover, he actually shared a bloodline with her.
That was why she hadn’t been able to resist stealing a few extra glances at him on the antique street earlier.
“Huh?”
Shen Fan nearly dropped his jaw.
“Hahahaha!”
Then, he burst into laughter.
“Isn’t this the classic scam of a charlatan? Trying to fool me? You’re not even-ow!”
Before he could finish, the next second, he stumbled hard and landed on his backside.
“Who? Who ambushed me?!”
Furious, he glared around warily.
But there was no one in sight.
Yun Mojiu cast a fleeting glance at Xiao Junhe, who lounged lazily against the wall, then at the disheveled Shen Fan sprawled on the ground. A faint smirk tugged at her lips.
See? Instant karma.
“Was it you? Did you pull some trick?”
Shen Fan scrambled up, wincing.
“Did I?” Yun Mojiu countered.
Shen Fan: …
It didn’t seem like it.
Then why had he suddenly fallen for no reason?
Frowning, he limped toward the exit.
“Don’t want the talisman?” Yun Mojiu asked.
Shen Fan scoffed. “Might as well take it. Consider it compensation from you.”
He snatched it without a backward glance and left.
Yun Mojiu chuckled softly.
He’d be back.
This talisman was free, but next time, she’d charge extra.
She resumed drawing talismans.
A while later, the final one was complete.
She placed them at the four corners of the bed, on Xiao Junhe’s temples, and on his palms and soles.
“Come here. Stand in this spot.”
Yun Mojiu pointed to the head of the bed.
Xiao Junhe obediently floated over.
But the next moment, he watched in shock as Yun Mojiu began undressing his physical body.
“What are you doing?”
He tensed, immediately protesting.
Yun Mojiu turned her head slightly, her gaze calm and unreadable.
“Helping you alleviate the curse inside you. Otherwise… what did you think I was doing?”
The question left Xiao Junhe speechless.
A man known for his commanding presence and decisive actions in business, he now found himself at a loss for words.
He had thought…
Yun Mojiu ignored him and continued.
As the robes parted, his sculpted chest was revealed.
Even lying down, the sharp definition of his eight-pack abs was unmistakable.
Yun Mojiu’s expression remained unchanged as her slender fingers lightly traced over his chest.
At the sight, Xiao Junhe’s gaze darkened considerably.
