Alice, Rain, Chad, and Matt stood frozen in shock as they watched Spence collapse to the ground, spitting up blood.

Among their group were special forces soldiers, communications operatives, and trained covert agents.

Any single one of them possessed elite skills, yet none of them had felt confident they could take Spence down in a direct confrontation.Full novel: Resident Evil: Beginning Activates Magneto’s Gene — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Yet Chu Feng—an ordinary person—had brought down an elite agent dual-wielding pistols with a single punch.

Was there anything crazier in the world than this?

“Who…

are…

you?!” Spence lay on the ground, his voice trembling.

He couldn’t accept that he had been defeated by a nobody, desperately clinging to the hope that his opponent was some legendary operative in disguise.

“Just a college student,” Chu Feng replied calmly.

Seeing Spence completely incapacitated, Chu Feng was actually a little stunned internally.

He hadn’t expected the explosive force of his Awakened punch to be so devastating.

Still, he kept a completely composed expression on his face.

“A student?!” Spence coughed up a bit more blood, letting out a bitterly cold, hollow laugh.

“Hahaha!

That’s…

that’s a damn terrible joke!” He had wanted Chu Feng to reveal some terrifying background so he could accept his defeat.

But an ordinary college student?

Was this a joke?

If a random civilian from the East was stronger than a triple-threat agent like him, wouldn’t his twenty years of brutal training and life-or-death struggles be a complete farce?

He would rather believe Chu Feng was mocking him than face the reality that all his efforts meant nothing.

Facing Spence’s mad sneer, Chu Feng remained unbothered, offering no further explanation.

“Damn it, tell me the truth!” Spence rasped, his face pale as he struggled to breathe.

“Believe it or not, you’re done, asshole!” Before Chu Feng could speak, Matt scrambled up from the floor, grabbed a broken metal lamp stand from the debris, and rushed forward.

BANG!

BANG!

BANG!

Matt rained blows down on Spence without mercy.

The heavy metal stand bent and twisted out of shape, but Matt kept striking again and again in a frantic rage.

“That’s enough, Matt!

He’s dead!” Alice stepped forward, pulling the distraught man back.

She understood his desperate need for revenge over his sister’s murder, but Spence was already dead.

Continuing to beat a corpse changed nothing.

“Lisa…

I avenged you…” Matt dropped the twisted metal rod, sinking to his knees as tears streamed down his face.

He had finally gotten justice for his sister, but she was never coming back.

The group fell into a heavy silence.

Since stepping into this facility, every single one of them had lost people they cared about.

“I…” Chu Feng opened his mouth to speak, but two trickles of blood suddenly leaked from his nostrils.

Pushing his genetic abilities to the limit came with a heavy physical cost.

He had maintained his high-frequency magnetic disruption for so long during the intense fight just to ensure Spence couldn’t hit him.

Now that the adrenaline faded and Spence was dead, his body reached its absolute limit.

A wave of intense dizziness washed over him.

His vision blurred, his legs went limp, and he collapsed forward into darkness.

“Chu Feng!” Alice caught him before he hit the deck, pulling him gently into her arms.

In the darkness of unconsciousness, Chu Feng had a pleasant dream.

He dreamt he was back home, resting peacefully in his soft, warm bed after a long day.

Why did my pillow suddenly get so soft and comfortable?

As the fatigue gradually faded, Chu Feng slowly opened his eyes.

He felt a gentle warmth against his cheek and a subtle, soft elasticity beneath his head.

This warmth…

this softness…

Could this be the legendary lap pillow?!

“You’re awake,” a soft voice murmured from above.

Chu Feng tilted his head up and met Alice’s clear, bright eyes looking down at him.

Whoa!

It was his first time ever waking up with his head resting on someone’s lap, let alone a stunning, world-class beauty like Alice.

Chu Feng bolted straight up like he had been shocked by electricity, waving his hands awkwardly.

“Sorry!

I…

I didn’t mean to…

How did I…” Before transmigrating, he was just an ordinary guy with zero experience in anything like this.

Finding himself in such an intimate position made him instantly flush with embarrassment.

“I’ve heard that people from the East find resting like this comforting and sleep better,” Alice said, a gentle curve gracing her lips as she watched his rare moment of panic.

“How was it?

Was it effective?” Having undergone extensive training, Alice knew about various cultural customs.

She had heard of the concept of a “knee pillow”—a gesture meant to convey deep trust, warmth, and peace.

She had never given one to anyone before, but seeing Chu Feng faint from exhaustion, she had instinctively offered her lap so he wouldn’t have to lie on the cold, hard steel floor.

“Yes…

it was very comfortable!

Ahem…

How long was I out?” Chu Feng cleared his throat, trying to hide his awkwardness.

“About half an hour,” Alice replied.

“Only half an hour?” Chu Feng was surprised.

He hadn’t realized his body’s recovery rate had improved so significantly after his genetic awakening.

“Why?

Do you want to lie back down?” Alice teased, a bright smirk playing at the corners of her mouth.

“Ah!

No, no!

Thank you for holding me up,” Chu Feng replied quickly, realizing she was poking fun at him.

He stood up, shaking off the lingering fatigue.

While he felt a little sheepish, he genuinely appreciated her kindness and noted the favor in his mind.

Seeing him politely step back, Alice felt a strange, fleeting sense of disappointment deep inside.

Though she had been teasing him, a small part of her wouldn’t have minded if he rested a little longer.

Wait, what am I thinking?

Alice shook her head, pushing the stray thought aside and regaining her cool, professional composure.

“Hey!

What are you two doing over there?” Chad called out from the central terminal, interrupting the quiet atmosphere.

He entered the final line of override code into the terminal and turned around.

“If you’re done resting, get over here!

The Red Queen’s reboot installation is complete!”
