Hearing this, Leon glanced at the FBI badge and slowly lowered his gun.
“Sorry…
thanks.”
Just as Ada Wong lowered the gun she had raised during the standoff with Leon, she noticed the dog beside her had gotten back up.
A sharp crack rang out, and a wisp of smoke drifted from the muzzle of Ada Wong’s gun.
Alan Han also fired another shot at the zombie dog.
It wasn’t getting back up again.
Ada Wong glanced at Alan Han and Claire beside him, then turned back to Leon.
“…You saved me.”
Leon looked at the dog that had just been finished off and thanked Ada Wong.
Alan Han: So what about me?
That extra shot I fired was for nothing?
If it weren’t for your romantic subplot, I could’ve saved you too.
“Never thought you’d make it here.”
Ada Wong met Leon’s gaze briefly, then turned and walked off.
Leon got to his feet, watched her retreating figure for a moment, then followed after her.
“FBI agent, what exactly is going on?”
“Sorry.
That’s classified.”
“Where are you going?”
Ada Wong stopped, turned to Leon, and said, “For your own sake, stop asking questions.
Get out of here.
Take the kids with you.”
With that, she turned and left, leaving behind only her cool, composed silhouette and the fading sound of her heels against the floor.
Me, a kid?
I just look a bit young.
I’m a college student, okay?
Alan Han bristled.
She probably said that because of Sherry, right?
Leon stared for a moment at where Ada Wong had disappeared, then glanced back at the tightly shut door before striding after her.
“Hey, I wasn’t finished talking!”
Alan Han and Claire had no choice but to follow, idly wondering if what he hadn’t finished saying was just introducing himself.
“Calm down, Leon.
That agent’s already gone.”
“She moves fast.”
“Leon, that look on your face…
I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before.”
“Pff…
cough.
She’s experienced, after all.
Let’s focus on finding a way out first.”
Leon glanced at Claire, a little puzzled, then nodded in agreement with Alan Han.
Feels like we’ll run into her again.
Hopeless.
Alan Han went ahead and pushed open the door in front of him.
Claire sighed quietly as well.
She remembered where she’d seen that look before.
Looks like a detention area, Leon thought as he examined the holding cells.
What kind of place keeps prisoners right next to an underground parking garage?
After grabbing a map from the wall of the nearby security office, Alan Han skimmed it briefly before handing it to Leon.
Leon looked it over, put it away, and then he and Alan Han searched the area, replenishing their ammo before moving on.
Claire set Sherry down and searched as well.
As they walked down the corridor, all the prisoners on both sides had already turned into zombies, snarling and slamming themselves against the iron bars.
Sherry looked around nervously, one hand clutching Claire’s pant leg, the other curled against her chest.
After turning two corners, Leon noticed a light ahead.
He exchanged a glance with Alan Han, and the two quickly moved toward it.
“Anyone there?”
“Hey.
Unbelievable.
A real, living person.
Hello there, humans.”
The man inside, clearly not a zombie despite being locked up, let out a relieved laugh when he saw them.
He stood up and walked over to the bars.
Alan Han sized him up.
Locked up this long and still has cigarettes?
“Been locked up long?”
“Long enough.”
“Are we the only three left?”
“No.
There are a few others.”
As he finished speaking, Claire walked over with Sherry.
The man shifted his stance.
“Ha.
That’s good news, I guess.
Unless you’re here on Irons’ orders.”
“Irons?
Chief Irons?
Is he still alive?”
“Who knows?
Wouldn’t mind if the zombies got him.” He took another drag from his cigarette.
“What do you mean by that?”
“He’s the one who locked me in here.”
“There must’ve been a reason for it, right?”
“Of course…”
He exhaled smoke through his nose and continued.
“Because I was planning to expose all the dirty things he’s done.
If I were him, I’d have done the same.”
Suddenly, heavy, rhythmic footsteps echoed from the distance.
The man dropped his composure and hurriedly grabbed the ID card hanging on his chest, pressing up against the bars.
“Hey, let’s make a deal.
Open this door, and I’ll give you this.
It’s the only way out of the parking garage.
Trust me.”
Ever the honest one, Leon said, “Sorry, I can’t do that.
I need to talk to the chief first.”
Claire and Alan Han agreed.
The man started to panic.
“Listen, we’re all stuck in this police station.
If we don’t work together and help each other…”
Alan Han looked at him with pity.
Don’t worry.
A kind soul is about to smash through the wall and save you.
Hearing the footsteps getting closer, the man backed away in a hurry.
“Shit, he’s coming.”
“What?
What’s coming?”
“Don’t just stand there!
You’re going to need this card!
Hurry the hell up and let me out!”
Alan Han watched him retreat in panic.
Wait, shouldn’t you be coming closer?
Afraid we’ll snatch the card?
As soon as he finished speaking, a black-gloved hand smashed through the wall with brute force, then grabbed the man’s head and lifted him up as if the wall didn’t exist.
“Ugh.
Aaaah!”
The hand tightened instantly.
A dull crunch of bone grinding and breaking echoed out.
The man’s head was crushed on the spot.
He was dead in an instant.
The hand released him, and his body slammed heavily to the ground.
Leon raised his gun, staring in shock.
“Oh my God.”
“What the hell.”
Staring at the massive hole in the wall, the people outside broke out in cold sweat.
Damn, that Tyrant’s brutal as hell.
Leon, Alan Han, and Claire all froze on the spot.
The sound of high heels striking the concrete grew closer.
“Who’s there?”
Leon swung his gun toward the sound.
“Relax, it’s me.
You can lower your weapon.”
Ada Wong walked over with measured, graceful steps.
