Alan Han and Leon rushed outside and turned to face the Tyrant.
They fired several shots at its head.
The muzzle flashes stood out sharply in the rain-soaked night.
The bullets staggered it slightly, only enough to tilt its head and knock its hat off.
Flattened rounds dropped from its face as it kept advancing toward them.
“Move, Leon.
Don’t get stuck fighting it!”
Alan Han didn’t care anymore if this revealed how he knew.
“His attacks have a recovery window, and he doesn’t run.
We can use that!”
Leon didn’t question it.
As the Tyrant closed in and swung a punch, he rolled to the side and sprinted back toward the previous room.
“Han, now!”
Alan Han slipped past the Tyrant.
Just before leaving, he glanced back and met its emotionless gaze.
What a pain to deal with.
Good thing it’s not fast.
Neither of them dared stop.
They ran straight back into the police station.
“My God, something like that is actually chasing us!”
“I swear I can see a countdown ticking over our heads.”
Leon let out a breath.
“Han, you’ve got the better memory.
Take me to every place we can unlock with these keys.
We need to get out of here fast.”
Alan Han nodded.
Yeah.
I’m racing against time too.
I’ve got my own objective.
There are people I need to save.
They reached a staircase and headed down.
At a locked door, Leon took out the key he had found in the boiler room.
The lock clicked open as he turned it.
They stepped inside and found a box.
The top had a slot missing something.
Judging by the shape…
Leon immediately understood.
He took out the ruby he had been carrying in his pouch since the beginning and set it into place.
The box unlocked.
Inside was something that looked like a police badge.
Leon examined it closely and realized it was actually a USB drive.
“Remember the S.T.A.R.S.
office on the second floor?
It needs a USB drive to open.”
“Maybe there’s something inside that can take down that big guy.”
Leon put the USB drive away, and the two left the room.
Before leaving, Alan Han grabbed the note with the safe combination written on it.
His memory was not good enough to rely on alone.
Back on the second floor, they headed straight to the break room.
Using the code they had just found, they opened the safe behind the counter.
Inside was a muzzle brake.
For consistency, the standard police handgun is a VP70.
It fit both Leon’s and Alan Han’s pistols.
Without hesitation, Leon handed it to Alan Han, who was less used to recoil.
Alan Han took it and gave him a look.
“Wow.
Thanks.
You couldn’t hesitate for even a second?”
After picking up the item, they returned to the lobby and headed into the west corridor on the first floor.
Just as they were about to rush forward and continue unlocking doors.
A sharp, piercing screech echoed through the hall, clearly different from a normal zombie.
Not far away, a crawling creature with a long, hanging tongue appeared.
Damn it.
A Licker.
Alan Han signaled for silence, and the two moved forward carefully.
As they passed it, Alan Han couldn’t help comparing it to an Alien.
Still, the Alien looked cooler and was even more terrifying.
Suddenly, the Licker tilted its head toward them.
…
“Man, that was close.”
After finally getting past it, they let out a quiet breath and kept moving.
They reached another locked door.
Leon used a key to open it and stepped inside, with Alan Han following.
It looked like an archive room filled with books.
Alan Han picked up a long, slender tool from the table, while Leon grabbed a grenade from the other side.
They finished searching the room.
“Leon, as far as I remember, we’ve opened every door we can.”
Leon took out all the keys from his pouch that were taking up space and set them on the table.
“Hopefully no one will need these anymore.”
They left the room and headed toward the library.
According to Alan Han’s memory, a jack was propping up a cabinet there, locking it in place so it could not be moved.
To reach the clock tower, they needed to move the bookshelves.
As for why they had to go to the clock tower, the note outside Ben’s holding cell mentioned another electronic component was there.
Leon only half understood Alan Han’s explanation.
If he had to figure it out himself, it would have taken much longer.
There were too many items to sort through, and on top of that, a Tyrant was chasing them.
Alan Han really was reliable.
At the shelves, Alan Han took out the long tool, inserted it into the slot above the jack, and lowered it.
The bookshelf dropped with a dull thud.
Then he and Leon worked together to move all the shelves from the left to the right.
That finished the setup.
Suddenly, a chill ran down their backs.
They turned sharply.
The Tyrant was standing on the second floor of the library, staring down at them.
What the hell.
“Move.
Damn it, he caught up again.”
Alan Han pulled Leon out of the library and back into the corridor.
Trouble.
The Licker was still there.
They wanted to run but did not dare to, moving awkwardly like old ladies crossing the street.
After getting a bit farther and judging that the Licker had not noticed them, they pushed open a door on the right and went inside.
Alan Han realized they had entered the S.T.A.R.S.
office.
Leon took out the USB drive and plugged it into the computer.
Beep.
The system started processing the key.
This time, when he pressed the button, the progress bar filled quickly.
With a sharp electronic click, the weapons locker opened.
They stepped inside.
Alan Han immediately spotted the Lightning Hawk mounted on the wall and took it down.
“Now this is a beauty.
Heard the recoil’s insane.”
He racked the slide.
Two crisp metallic clicks echoed, and his adrenaline surged.
For a moment, he even felt like taking on the Tyrant.
Then he stepped into Wesker’s office and picked up the scope from the desk.
After attaching it, he tried aiming a few times.
Leon watched his excitement and shook his head.
Then he picked up a letter from a nearby stool.
Signed, Chris Redfield.
Claire’s brother.
“That’s great, Han.
Claire’s brother is alive.
Looks like he’s on some mission and doesn’t want Claire to know.”
Alan Han took the letter and shrugged.
“Claire’s not a kid.
Whatever he’s planning, it’s not going to work.”
