Meanwhile, inside Johnson & Johnson’s New Harbor office.
“Damn Adrian Cross. Damn Umbrella. They rejected us again and again. In that case, we move to Plan B.”
A white man in glasses spoke in a low, grim voice to the broad-shouldered Black man beside him.
“Too bad this country controls guns so tightly. Even now, we have only a small number of firearms.”
A flicker of disappointment passed through the Black man’s eyes.
“The objective is to obtain the formula. Do not fire unless absolutely necessary.”
Johnson & Johnson was the world’s largest pharmaceutical company.
Built on Band-Aid as a foundational product, it had dominated the pharmaceutical industry for two centuries.
It would not allow anyone to threaten its position.
If Umbrella truly began promoting products across the board, it could suppress Johnson & Johnson and deal the company a massive blow.
On top of that, the HIV/AIDS market was simply too enormous.
They wanted a piece of it.
Adrian’s repeated refusals had forced them to consider other methods.
In truth, this was a common approach for major capital.
When acquisition and financing failed, companies turned to market pressure or stock attacks.
But against Umbrella, none of that worked.
An exclusive drug.
The only one in the world.
A private company that rejected acquisition and financing.
The only paths left were illegal ones: corporate espionage, theft, and outright seizure.
A trillion-dollar market was enough to move even the largest capital forces.
Umbrella looked calm on the surface, but it was only the calm before the storm.
Dozens of forces were already closing in quietly.
After fully understanding the new formula, Adrian immediately went to find Dr.
Hart and the laboratory researchers.
“Dr. Hart, you’ve worked hard. The workers are already familiar with the production lines. You don’t need to stare at them all day.”
Adrian respected Elias Hart.
During that period, the older scientist had barely rested. New chapters come out on novelping.com first.
Every day followed the same routine: the laboratory, the production line, and the cafeteria.
“Mr. Cross, why are you being so polite with me? We’ve known each other for years. I’m not that fragile.” Dr.
Hart laughed.
“Besides, the lab is mostly cultivating other viral strains based on the A-Virus right now. At the earliest stage, one more person there doesn’t change much. Here is different.”
Dr.
Hart took work extremely seriously.
He could even be called nitpicky.
For pharmaceutical production, that was a very good thing.
He was not rigid, either.
He had a good temper, and most importantly, he knew how to adapt.
That was why Adrian liked the old man so much.
“Then what if the earliest stage is already complete?” Adrian asked with a smile.
“What? Those little brats succeeded? Why did no one tell me?”
Dr.
Hart froze.
“Not them,” Adrian said with a laugh.
“Me.”
He pulled Dr.
Hart to a place where no one else could hear and whispered a single sentence into his ear.
Dr.
Hart’s knees nearly gave out.
If Adrian had not reacted quickly and caught him, the older scientist would have sat straight down on the floor.
Even then, Dr.
Hart trembled from head to toe.
He looked completely stunned.
“Mr. Cross, you’re not lying to me?”
“Of course not. As true as it gets. Doctor, you are going to be busy again.”
They were about to cure another terminal disease.
For a man obsessed with biopharmaceuticals his entire life, the news struck Dr.
Hart like lightning.
Every so-called incurable disease had consumed decades, even lifetimes, of effort from people like him, often without any real progress.
Yet in such a short time, Adrian had already solved a second one.
Dr.
Hart began trembling again.
He did not care why Adrian could obtain an almost perfect formula without entering the lab.
He wanted to know, of course, but he did not truly mind.
Everyone had secrets.
All Dr.
Hart knew was that with these technologies, Umbrella, or rather their homeland, would once again stand among the world’s leaders.
They would save countless lives again.
“You little brat, I like you.” Dr.
Hart grinned.
“Come on. Let’s get to the lab. I can’t wait anymore.”
After spending so much time with Adrian, Dr.
Hart found him more pleasing by the day.
He was even starting to wonder whether he should bring back his granddaughter, who currently worked at the National Academy, and introduce her to Adrian.
“I wonder how Hannah has been lately. That girl has not called me in months.”
Dr.
Hart was extremely proud of his granddaughter.
Since childhood, she had inherited his talent in medicine and pharmacology.
In some ways, she had surpassed him.
At a young age, she had already joined the National Academy.
