GIOVANNI
"Tony Drill." I read out the name on the document my father had given to me for the fifth time, anger settled in the pit of my stomach as I bit down on my knuckles.
When my father had given the document to me, I didn’t expect for the task to be this difficult because how could he? How could
my father send me to kill Tony?
"That old fucker!" I cursed under my breath, staring at the peaceful face of Tony in the document.
Tony was my father once upon a time boyfriend, yes, boyfriend. None of us — me and my two brothers— know about that side of father until mom died. Turned out Dad was gay all along and only used mom to birth his children.
As the eldest among my siblings, I happened to know first that Dad was into men. I was only twelve years old when Dad brought Tony home as his boyfriend. It hadn’t even been a month since Mom died that Dad
brought Tony home.
I really didn’t care about what Dad do during his free time because I was never a fan of him. Both him and Mom.
I didn’t know what exactly I was expecting from my Dad’s boyfriend, but Tony turned out to be a good man. He was so good to me and my brothers to the point I almost call him "Dad"
Almost.
Dad wasn’t at all a gentleman, judging by the nature of his work. Tony didn’t know about who Dad was and what he was into until five years later into their relationship.
When Tony found out, he threatened to leave but my Dad didn’t want that.
Dad turned aggressive towards Tony to the point that the poor man almost lost his life.
Tony disappeared one day and we never heard from him after that.
Turned out Dad was still obsessed with Tony and he searched for him everywhere. Two years ago, one of our men got information about Tony and I thought Dad had forgotten about everything that went down but that was a lie.
He fucking sent me to kill that poor man just because he got married a month ago and he already had a baby!
"Dad is fucking disgusting." I hissed angrily, throwing the document on my passenger seat.
"And Tony, why the fuck did he come back?" I barked, pinching the bridge of my nose.
Why the fuck did he come back and why the fuck did he marry a police’s son?
My mind went to Adrian and I hastily shook my head to get that damn thought off my mind. My case was different. Tony married a police’s son but me.... I was just playing around with that little shit. He wasn’t even
my type.
But he’s sexy... No. Not sexy. Adrian is not sexy at all.
"Fucking hell! Get it together." I hissed, staring out of the window.
I looked around the quiet neighborhood before stepping out of the car, good thing it was already dark because I didn’t know if I could do this to Tony when the sun was still up and I could see the hurt look on his face.
I pushed open the back gate, the wall freshly painted and the grass were just trimmed.
The smell of clean grass rushed into my nostril and I let out a deep grunt.
Walking over to the yard, I could see children’s toys littered the ground and painting materials were on a table right beside the toys.
A small smile spread across my face as I saw a canva that was nowhere near done. For a while, I had almost forgotten about how good Tony was at painting. My first attempt at painting was with him and I wondered lie I didn’t miss him.
I needed something else to focus on, something brutal, something familiar that wasn’t peaceful at all. Something that would prepare my mind for taking the life of a man I once considered my stepdad.
I reached into my coat, and my fingertips brushed along the cool metal of my gun. It was familiar and a total perfection.
"Tony, I really hate to meet you like this after twelve years." I mumbled to myself.
My hand wrapped around the gun and pulled it free. The moonlight glinted off the top of it, even the sky was marveled by its beauty.
Taking a deep breath, I gently knocked on the door and I heard voices from the other end. A baby cooing made my heart ached for this family that would soon be incomplete.
"Honey, can you hold her for me?" I heard Tony said, probably to his husband.
I gently moved away from the door and turned my back on the door. I heard the door open and spoke up before Tony could even say anything.
anything, I ignited the engine and drove out of his neighbour.
Please don’t say anything. Please don’t say anything. Fucking please don’t say anything...
"How have you been?" Tony asked, his voice was as calm as ever.
Just how the fuck did he even meet my father? Was he stupid? How could he even get himself involved with that psychopath bastard?
"Tony, please," I groaned out, avoiding his gaze from the rearview mirror. "Please don’t make this hard for me."
He was silent for a little while, and when I thought the bastard would stop saying shit, he sighed and said. "Benny sent you to kill me, didn’t he?"
I almost smack Tony on the head. Just how the fuck could he be so calm right now? He even called my father by the pet name he gave him when they were still dating.
"You already know what’s going on here, so stop the small talk." I yelled at him, speeding like I would lose my mind if I didn’t get to the location in the next minute.
"Can I call my husband?" Tony asked and I was forced to step on the break.
"And say what to him?" I yelled, looking him straight in the eyes. Did I regret it? Yes.
I fucking did.
"It won’t be fair to him if I sudden disappeared without a trace. At least let me be a dick to him so he won’t miss a piece of shit like me when I’m gone." He said, his tone was sad.
Stop saying shit like this. Fucking stop saying shit about yourself when my father was the shitty person here. Or maybe both me and my father are the pieces of shit. But definitely not you.
"Go ahead. But don’t fucking hint him about what’s going on if you don’t want your husband to enter my father’s black list." Only if he already isn’t on the list that is.
"Thank you. You’re still the same. You’ve never changed." Tony smiled and I just looked away.
He lied. I wasn’t the same person. I had changed and he should know that.
"Hello." I heard Tony’s husband said from the other end the moment he picked Tony’s call. The voice was even calmer than Tony’s.
At least the poor man knew to marry someone that was opposite of my father.
"I’m not sorry that I’m dumping you and your daughter. I already told you that I’m not interested in relationship before you forced me into marrying you. Don’t look for me because I don’t ever want to see you again." Tony yelled at the phone before ending the call.
I heard him sniffed back his tears and I wished I could hold him in my arms and tell him I was sorry he had to leave him perfect family. But I couldn’t. I shouldn’t be showing him that I care.
"Benny would want to have my phone as evidence. Have it." Tony extended his phone to me and I took it.
I checked the phone and I can see that he had already turned it off.
"I’m sorry, Tony." I whispered to myself as I started the car.
