Early in the morning, the bright sky replaced the darkness of the night.
The birds chipped softly as they sat on the eaves.
The sound of plates clattering echoed from the kitchen.
Akhil slowly opened his eyes, rubbing them lazily.
He let out a soft groan.
He stood up from his bed, stretched his arms above his head and yawned.
Suddenly, he remembered that he was one of the students scheduled to give a seminar.
He had completely forgotten about it.
Since it was the last hour of college, his mind kept wandering toward the moment the college bell would ring.
So, he just listened half-heartedly.
He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a notebook.
He opened the notebook, flipped through the pages rapidly, trying the find the page where he had written the topic he needed to teach.
He found that his topic was pointers in the C language.
He pondered for a moment, closing his eyes as he sank deep into thought.
He opened his eyes after a long moment.
The solution to the current problem was to seek help from the class topper.
But he usually didn’t talk to any of the class toppers.
They were bookworms, always worrying about marks, assignments and projects.
Now, he had no choice.
He gritted his teeth and finally made a decision.
“Okay.
I’ll try asking for help.
It’s not like nobody was willing to teach me.”
Once his mind was made up, he wasted no more time.
He headed to the bathroom to freshen up.
……..
The classroom was filled with the same noisy atmosphere.
Akhil sat on his bench in frustration.
No one came forward to help him.
Everyone gave the same reply: “Akhil, I’m sorry, but I don’t know”.
“Hypocrites.”
As he was lost in thought, his mind lit up with an idea.
But he frowned at the idea.
The idea was of course asking help from girls.
The problem was he don’t know how to ask them for help.
He could count on one hand how many times he had talked with girls aside from his mother.
He ran a hand through his hair and sighed before finally making up his mind.
He walked toward the girl with long black hair tied into a ponytail.
Though nervous inside, he kept his expression calm.
He asked in slightly awkward tone, “Hey, can you help me with my seminar?
”
The girl tilted her head upwards, hesitated for a moment and replied in a soft but clear voice.
“Sure.”
She continued, “What topic are you going to take?”
Akhil replied, “Pointers in C language.”
After that, the girl patiently taught him for a while.
When she finished, she said simply.
“That’s all.”
Akhil expressed his gratitude, “Thank you very much.
You really helped me a lot.”
Akhil returned to his seat.
Just as he sat down, his friend, Sanjay teased him with a smile.
“Yesterday, a policewoman.
Today, a classmate ah, Akhil!”
Akhil replied calmly.
That’s it.
Don’t make a big deal out of it.”
Sanjay just smiled without saying anything, and sat beside him while remarking.
“You know, you seriously asked the girl who’s the prettiest in the whole class.
I heard she was from rich family.
Let me give you one piece of advice.”
“Use that handsome face of yours and you can definitely make her fall in love with you.
It’s not difficult.”
As he spoke, his drool leaked from his mouth and he said longingly.
“Then you will also be rich.
As your best friend, I can reap the benefit.
Then, there is no one in the world to say things like “Go to work”.
Sanjay smiled, his lips curling with satisfaction of someone who had come up with a plan that would definitely succeed.
Akhil frowned in disgust at his friend’s sinister plan.
He spat in exasperation.
“Wipe that drool off your face first.”
Sanjay just realized that drool was leaking from his mouth onto his chin.
He took his handkerchief and wiped the drool.
His face burned with shame.
Sanjay desperately searched his mind for an idea to change the topic.
Fortunately, he found one.
His face lit up with satisfaction.
Satisfied with himself for being quick-witted, he thought inwardly,
“You are definitely a genius, Sanjay.”
He asked.
“Ah!
Where are Mukhi and Rajesh?”
Akhil blinked, swept his gaze across the classroom and replied with confused expression.
“I don’t know.
Usually, they’re earlier to college than me.
It’s rare for them to be late.”
At nine o’ clock, the class bell rang.
The home teacher, Akira, arrived with her usual cold expression.
Akhil frowned when he saw that, both Mukhi and Rajesh still have not come to college.
He sneakily took out his phone, texted Mukhi and Rajesh in their group chat.
“Hey, Mukhi.
Rajesh.”
“Where are you?
Class is already started.”
He sent his message and waited patiently.
He tapped his finger on the desk and soon his phone lit up with notification.
He opened ‘WhatsApp’ and saw the message from his friends.
When he saw the message, he sighed.
“Those idiots.”
He turned his head and called Sanjay.
“Sanjay.”
Sanjay asked as he already know the reason why Akhil calling him.
“Say.
what reason did they give?”
Akhil smiled wryly and said.
“Those two woke up late today.
They even got stuck up in traffic.”
Sanjay gave disdainful laugh and mocked them.
“See the reason.
Those two woke up late. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.
They could not even come up with a better reason.”
Two hours later, Mukhi and Rajesh came to the college and walked to the staff room to report their attendance.
Their faces were grim when they came out.
Sanjay sneered at them.
“Don’t tell me you repeated the same sloppy excuse with the teacher that you told us?
“Right?”
When he saw their face, he laughed loudly, clutching his stomach.
He wiped away the fake tears and told them.
“Are you idiots?”
Akhil smiled and stepped forward to stop escalating the matter further.
“Okay.
Okay.
Don’t tease them.
They just came out after receiving a harsh scolding from our teacher.”
Akhil turned back and asked with curiosity.
“Where did you guys go today?”
Mukhi shot a glare at Sanjay and replied offhandedly.
“We went to watch a new movie at the theatre.”
Sanjay stepped forward and grabbed them.
“Why did you not mention to us?”
They both replied at the same time.
“The movie starts at four o’ clock in the morning.
You guys are heavy sleepers.
Even if we invited you, you will definitely miss the show.”
Sanjay was speechless at their response.
…………..
During lunch,
“Akhil.
Have you started studying seriously or what?”
“Yeah.
We couldn’t follow the topic you took for the seminar.”
Sanjay said with a mischievous smile.
“Oh.
You don’t know because you came late today.”
At that, both Mukhi and Rajesh turned toward Sanjay.
Their expression mixed with curiosity and anticipation of good gossip.
“Well, he asked Mira to teach him.
You guys know her.
She is the first ranked holder in our department.”
After that, all three of them began teasing Akhil.
To which Akhil, responded with nothing but silence.
Just like that, the day in college came to an end.
On his way home, Akhil walked slowly, exhausted from the day’s events.
Today was exhausting.
He had endured his friends’ teasing from lunch until evening.
As he walked, he noticed police station nearby.
Recalling his encounter with the cold face police woman, his pace increased as he tried to escape from the person he did not wish to meet.
He inwardly cursed.
“Why did I take this path?”
Suddenly, the police car overtook him and stopped in front of him.
The front door opened, revealing a stunningly beautiful women.
When his gaze met her, he froze.
“I’m fucked.”
