『Congratulations to the player for collecting all vehicle upgrade supplies. Upgrade requires: Level 4 vehicle upgrade card ×1, energy stone ×10, space stone ×1, silicon crystal ×1000, refined aluminum ×1000, refined iron ×1000, rubber ×1000, Lumber ×1000, engine ×5, silver ingot ×100. Upgrade?』
“Yes.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, Jiang Li was ejected from the vehicle.
It was pouring rain outside, cold and wet.
Jiang Li quickly put on her raincoat and held up her umbrella, but she still got drenched.
She glanced over. The upgrade would still need one more hour to finish.
From now on, a waterproof tent was absolutely necessary.
At the very least, she needed somewhere else to lie down besides the vehicle.
Jiang Li opened the trading channel. Well, would you look at that… there really was one.
It was a trade posted by Sakura Sister.
A tent in exchange for 12 jin of rice.
Jiang Li raised an eyebrow. She happened to have white rice.
“Tent camping gear: 210 × 210 × 140 cm family-size tent, one-second quick setup, no assembly required, convenient for picnics, overnight rainproof. To think you actually found something this good.”
It was a cream-white tent with one door and one window. Once opened, it firmly stuck to the ground on its own, with no need to hammer in stakes.
With a support pole holding up the vestibule, the tent entrance instantly had a rain canopy.
Jiang Li touched the silver moisture-proof mat beneath her. It was at least 3 centimeters thick, and the materials were very solid.
Things in the game always came with magical attributes. Just look at the wind and rain outside… not a drop got in.
Jiang Li lay comfortably inside the tent, listening to the drizzling rain right by her ear.
Accompanied by roars that came and went in the distance, tiny as she was in that tiny space, she felt a strong sense of security.
On the last day of the newbie period, Jiang Li lay in the tent thinking about the coming torrential rain.
In the past, during the Qingming Festival, it also rained nonstop.
“Baby, do you know what date it is today?”
“Sister, April 4th, Era 6985.”
Jiang Li had only asked casually, and she did not expect there to actually be a date. So Era 6985 was what… the game’s calendar?
“Baby, help me look up special items on the trading channel. I’ll check them later.”
“Received, Sister.”
Baby’s tone was cheerful. Having a work task seemed to make Baby especially energetic.
Jiang Li smiled and also threw herself into survival preparations.
Whatever else happened, staying alive was the most important thing.
First came enough food. No matter what natural disaster it was, food was indispensable.
Next was the matter of picking up supply crates. Going out in a torrential downpour was truly troublesome. If only the vehicle could auto-pick up and drive itself, that would be perfect.
Jiang Li rolled onto her side and reached out to rub her waist.
In short, the more belongings the better. Then she needed to raise her overall stats.
The rain outside was still falling, and it seemed to be getting heavier and heavier.
Jiang Li opened the Wish System.
Completed:
1. Travel 20 kilometers, exceeded the target! Reward available, 20 points.
2. Pick up 3 silver crates, exceeded the target! Reward available, 10 points.
3. Mine 500 kg, no Species restriction, exceeded the target! Reward available, 50 points.
4. Upgrade the space area to 1 square meter, exceeded the target! Reward available, 30 points.
Pending tasks:
1. Go to a dungeon once, 10 points.
Basically done. Going to a dungeon was only a matter of time.
She glanced over. There were still 20 minutes until the upgrade finished, so Jiang Li took out today’s harvest.
A total of 4 iron crates, 6 silver crates, 4 system gift packs, and 110 points.
Jiang Li closed her eyes and started muttering under her breath.
“Highway Survival is the most handsome game among all games, simply a god among games… fair and handsome, feared by no one. The existence of Game Daddy is a miracle in the universe. Your wisdom is as profound as an ancient forest. You are an encyclopedia, my guide. Game Daddy, please grant your blessing to this faithful daughter!”
A flash of light.
“Congratulations on obtaining: fully automatic pick-up vehicle arm, hemostatic bandage blueprint, toilet paper blueprint, launcher, maternal-and-infant direct-drink wall-mounted water purifier, universal cure pill ×3, Luck Fragment ×6, milk powder 800g ×10, sanitary pads/pack ×10, refined iron ×200, Lumber ×200, small bread ×50, sour and spicy boneless chicken feet/jin ×10, large spicy strips/pack ×10, spicy slices/pack ×10.”
“Oh my, thank you, Game Daddy. You’re the most handsome in the entire universe.”
Getting purple-gold crate-level supplies from an ordinary crate, Jiang Li jumped up in excitement.
In the mist, a round, chubby unknown creature curled its lips upward. Watching Jiang Li dancing with joy on the screen, it gave her a five-star follow.
He had been in a bad mood today, and suddenly hearing this string of sincere praise made those uncomfortable feelings in his heart vanish.
Jiang Li continued opening gift packs.
“Congratulations on obtaining: energy stone ×10, universal key, vehicle follow card, body-forging pill, planting soil 50 jin, cotton flower seeds ×50, small tomato seedlings ×10, carrots seeds ×5, broccoli ×5, cucumber ×5, garlic sauce ×5, chili pepper sauce ×5, 6-inch taro paste bubble cake ×2.”
Was this gift pack telling her to farm? Body-forging, soil, and seeds all together.
Jiang Li felt the hidden Huaguo genes inside her being awakened, and she was eager to try.
A successful crop meant she could have a steady stream of food sources. Cotton was also important; it could be used to make warm thick quilts.
Waaah… and there was her favorite taro paste bubble cake. Jiang Li could not wait to cut herself a slice.
The fragrance of taro paste, the soft and fluffy texture, the chewy bouncy bubbles, and the sweet creamy frosting all blended together. Jiang Li took bite after bite.
The sweet flavor had her hooked, and before long she had eaten half the cake.
Jiang Li ate the cake, her eyes glistening.
Coming to the game was definitely the luckiest thing in both her lifetimes. Everything she could not afford to eat or use before, she now had… even health.
It did not matter if no one loved her. She could love herself and give herself the best.
“The vehicle upgrade is complete. Player, please inspect your vehicle.”
Jiang Li poked her head out and looked… a small motorhome appeared before her eyes.
『Road-brand small motorhome: a one-bedroom, one-living-room layout that lets you better manage your Life sector. Body size: 8 meters long, 6 meters wide, 5 meters high. An essential motorhome for the Exquisite Piggy Girl.』
The entire motorhome was mainly white, with 5-centimeter-wide light purple lines starting from the front hood and extending along both sides of the roof to the rear. The four wheel hubs were spray-painted bright purple.
When Jiang Li stepped into the motorhome, the ceiling sensor light strip lit up. The Mobile Bathroom was placed in the upper-left corner of the living room.
The bathroom had everything except a toilet.
Jiang Li sighed. She still had to go outside for that.
“Congratulations to player Li Taibai for becoming the first player server-wide to upgrade a Level 4 vehicle. By choosing to broadcast, you can receive a solar power generation system, a furniture set, and a whole-house air filtration system. Do you wish to broadcast?”
“Broadcast!” Jiang Li said softly.
Then a large gold, bold, enlarged scrolling banner appeared at the top of the Chat Main Hall.
『Server-wide Announcement: A moment of glory! The first player on the server to upgrade a Level 4 vehicle has been born!
Warm congratulations to player 『ID: Li Taibai』 for, in Highway Survival Game, relying on skillful play and fearless courage, successfully claiming the server’s first promotion!
