“Your first time? I have high standards in that area—can you satisfy me?”

The moment Wen Yao sat down, she heard that line. This was already her third blind date—it wasn’t like she hadn’t met weird people before.

But someone this bizarre? This was a first.Full novel: Reunited with My Abstinent Boss—Now He Won’t Let Me Go — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The matchmaker knew she was a single mother and would always make it clear to the other party.

And yet he still asked if it was her first time?

Was something wrong with his brain?

She placed her bag on her lap and finally looked up at her date.

The moment she saw his face, she froze.

Wen Yao never expected to run into Xing Yu again—let alone in this way, on a blind date.

Five years ago, Xing Yu had sent her a single message… and then completely vanished from her world.

Now, her ex-boyfriend who had disappeared for five years suddenly appeared before her without warning. Her palm grew damp as she gripped her bag, and she instinctively lowered her head.

Back when she met Xing Yu, she had been a chubby girl, with heavy bangs and thick glasses—the “country bumpkin” her classmates mocked.

Xing Yu, on the other hand, had been a standout figure at A University—handsome enough to outshine the campus heartthrob, the dream guy of countless girls.

No one believed that he had dated a 140-pound “bumpkin” for two years.

Those two years with him had felt like a dream.

Then he left… and the dream ended.

Xing Yu had gone on several blind dates. Every time he said something like this, the women would either leave immediately or curse him as a pervert.

This was the first time he’d met a woman so calm, so he couldn’t help but take a few extra glances.

Her skin was as fair as snow, her black hair tied in a high ponytail. She wore a green knit cardigan over a white top, paired with jeans.

She looked like a college student—nothing like the blind date his mother had described.

“Can you satisfy me?”

Wen Yao hesitated for a moment before slowly lifting her head. The man in front of her wore a black suit, his hair slicked back in a side part. His thick brows cast shadows over his eyes, his gaze indifferent yet sharp.

He leaned lazily against the back of his chair, long legs crossed, looking utterly nonchalant.

At twenty-nine, Xing Yu was more mature than five years ago. His personality, however, seemed unchanged—still just as blunt.

Judging from his expression, he clearly hadn’t recognized her.

Now, she was 163 cm tall and weighed 95 pounds, with a well-proportioned figure.

Her once-heavy bangs had been replaced with light, French-style fringe. After losing weight, her sense of fashion had improved as well.

She was completely different from who she had been five years ago.

“We’re not suitable.”

Wen Yao finally couldn’t sit still any longer. After tossing out those words, she grabbed her bag and fled the café as if escaping.

Watching her retreating figure, Xing Yu suddenly thought of someone—someone who had also always reacted half a beat slower.

As Wen Yao reached the door, she saw a man in a black suit talking on the phone.

“I’ll first see if she’s as pretty as the matchmaker said. A child? She can just leave the kid with the grandmother. I’m not raising someone else’s child.”

Only then did Wen Yao realize—she had mistaken Xing Yu for her blind date.

They were both wearing black suits. When she entered, Xing Yu had his back to her, so she hadn’t seen his face and got it wrong.

She had agreed to come only out of respect for Teacher Yu, and without even properly looking at her actual date, she had rushed off.

Just then, the blind date sent her a message:

【Have you arrived?】

Wen Yao walked farther away before replying:

【Sorry, we’re not suitable.】

After sending it, she immediately blocked him.

After paying the bill, Xing Yu walked out of the café. Just then, his mother called.

“How did it go? Did you like her?”

Xing Yu: “No.”

“What kind of girl do you even like?”

“Fair-skinned,” Xing Yu replied casually.

“She wasn’t fair enough for you? Your cousin Qin Chao’s son is already one month old, and you’re still single!”

“…” Xing Yu hung up. Right after, Qin Chao called.

“Bro, it’s my son’s full-month celebration tomorrow. You have to come. My classmates will all be there—you know them too.”

Xing Yu tightened his grip on the phone. “All your classmates will be there?”

“Yeah.” Qin Chao seemed to remember something. “Well, not all. Wen Yao won’t come. We never invite her to our gatherings, so don’t worry.”

Xing Yu walked to his car, holding the door handle without opening it for a long time. “You’ve never invited her to your gatherings?”

“Why would we invite that bumpkin? Back then she clung to you like a plaster—always looking for you whenever she had the chance. I’ve never seen a girl so shameless. But in the second year after you left, she dropped out.”

Xing Yu couldn’t help tightening his grip on the handle. “Why did she drop out?”

“Who knows? Not long after you left, she got even fatter—her belly was like a ball. Then she suddenly quit school. No one’s seen her in the class group chats either. Probably too embarrassed to say anything.”

Xing Yu opened the car door and got in, the call still not ended.

“Back then, someone saw Wen Yao enter your dorm and never come out—not just once. Don’t tell me you actually slept with her?”

Xing Yu paused when he heard this, then hung up directly.

Qin Chao stared at the disconnected call. “Damn! Did they really sleep together?”

Xing Yu sat in the car, not starting the engine right away.

After coming back, he tried calling her, only to find that her phone number had somehow become invalid.

He then tried contacting her through WeChat, QQ, and other apps, only to realize that all her accounts had been deleted.

As early as five years ago, after he sent that message, their connection seemed to have been cut off.

Now, it was truly gone.

By the time Wen Yao hurried to the kindergarten, it was already dark.

Wen Xin’s tiny figure sat on a small stool inside, not crying or making a fuss—so well-behaved it was heartbreaking.

When Wen Xin saw her mother, she ran over on her short little legs and threw herself into Wen Yao’s arms. “Mommy!”

Wen Yao hugged her tightly. “Xin Xin, I’m sorry. Mommy’s late.”

Wen Xin wrapped her arms around her mother’s neck and said in a soft, childish voice, “Mommy, I want custard buns.”

Wen Yao carried her as she walked. “Mommy will take you to eat now. How about having custard buns tomorrow morning?”

“Okay, I’ll listen to Mommy.” Wen Xin cupped her mother’s face with both hands and asked seriously, “Mommy, am I a good girl?”

“Xin Xin is the best girl.” Wen Yao saw the bus arrive and carried her on, finding a seat by the window.

Wen Xin hugged her again. “Then Mommy, can you reward Xin Xin with a lollipop?”

How could Wen Yao refuse her daughter? “Since Xin Xin is so good, Mommy will buy you two lollipops—one for tomorrow, okay?”

Wen Xin happily gave her a big kiss on the cheek. “Mommy is the best mommy in the world.”

Wen Yao took her daughter into a restaurant. Her daughter loved the omelet rice here the most.

The restaurant was a bit expensive per person, so she only brought her here occasionally.

There were children’s chairs, but Wen Xin didn’t like sitting in them, so Wen Yao let her sit beside her.

At the next table, two men were chatting.

“Tomorrow is President Qin’s son’s full-month celebration. All our classmates are going.”

“Is that bumpkin Wen Yao going? She was so fat back then. After five years, who knows how big she’s gotten—probably so fat she can’t even walk anymore.”

Hearing her mother’s name, Wen Xin frowned her delicate brows. She quickly slid off her chair and walked up to them.

“Uncles, who are you talking about?”

The two men turned at the sound and saw an extremely cute little girl. “We’re talking about Wen Yao. You don’t know her.”

A hint of disdain appeared in Wen Xin’s watery eyes. “You’re so young, yet already blind. How pitiful!”
