Xing Yu put down his phone and looked over at the two little troublemakers and the two police dogs playing wildly on the carpet.

The villa was air-conditioned, so there was no need to worry about the kids sweating.

He usually lived here alone, and it often felt cold and empty.Full novel: Reunited with My Abstinent Boss—Now He Won’t Let Me Go — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

But with Wen Xin and Xu Ziyang around, the villa suddenly became lively.

He suddenly began to understand why his mother was so eager for him to get married and give her grandchildren.

Having children at home did make things livelier. Even someone like him, who didn’t like noise, found himself enjoying watching the two kids.

Wen Xin suddenly ran over and threw herself into his arms. “Uncle Xing, have you ever eaten chicken wings that taste even better than Coca-Cola chicken wings?”

Xing Yu looked at Wen Xin’s flushed little face. Even with the air-conditioning on, there were still tiny beads of sweat on her forehead.

“Why do you ask?”

“My mom said you’ve eaten chicken wings that taste better than Coca-Cola chicken wings, so you don’t like the ones she makes.”

Wen Xin said seriously, “But my mom’s Coca-Cola chicken wings are really, really delicious. I wanted to invite you to try them, because you treated me to yummy food.”

Xing Yu suddenly understood why she asked. “You want to invite me to eat Coca-Cola chicken wings, but your mom thinks I don’t like them, right?”

“Yes, Uncle Xing. What kind of chicken wings taste better than Coca-Cola chicken wings? Are they sweet?” Wen Xin asked curiously.

Xing Yu explained, “I haven’t tried your mom’s Coca-Cola chicken wings, so I can’t compare which one tastes better.”

“Then do you like Coca-Cola chicken wings? My mom can make them—they’re really delicious.” Wen Xin sounded a little proud.

Xing Yu replied, “I’ll try them when I get the chance.”

Wen Xin lowered her head and looked at the smartwatch on her wrist. Even though she didn’t want to part with it, she still remembered what her mother had told her.

“Uncle Xing, I can’t accept this smartwatch. My mom said I can’t just take things that others buy for me without her permission, or I won’t be a good child.”

Xing Yu looked at Wen Xin, who clearly liked the pink children’s smartwatch, yet still listened to her mother.

How could there be such a well-behaved and obedient child?

“I’m your mom’s boss. Your mom listens to me, so if I say you can take it, then you can.”

But in Wen Xin’s eyes, her mother was the most important, and she had to listen to her.

“No, Uncle Xing. I have to listen to my mom.”

Xing Yu chuckled softly. “I’ll talk to your mom. Don’t worry.”

Wen Xin nodded obediently, then turned to leave before coming back again. “Uncle Xing, can I take Xuanwu and Xianyue outside to play?”

“Of course you can.”

Wen Xin happily skipped away and, together with Xu Ziyang, took Xuanwu and Xianyue to play on the lawn in the yard.

In the yard, a servant was watering the flowers with a hose.

Wen Xin and Xu Ziyang played with a ball alongside the two dogs.

Jincheng was a villa district for the wealthy.

When Wen Yao arrived, she heard children’s laughter from afar and recognized it as Xin Xin’s.

She found Villa No. 8. The gate was a double door equipped with a fingerprint password lock and facial recognition system.

After she rang the doorbell, the gate opened automatically after a short while.

Wen Yao walked in and saw figures running across the grass in the distance, with two German Shepherds following behind, and Xu Ziyang chasing after them.

She hugged one of the dogs’ heads and giggled nonstop.

After seeing police dogs on TV before, Xin Xin had always wanted to raise one.

But Wen Yao didn’t have enough money or energy. Buying one would cost a lot, and there were ongoing expenses for food and care.

Even adopting a police dog had requirements they couldn’t meet.

Xin Xin really liked police dogs.

Seeing her daughter playing so happily, Wen Yao couldn’t bear to disturb her and simply stood by the path watching.

When Wen Yao entered, a notification popped up on Xing Yu’s phone from the security camera. He opened it and saw her, then looked up. With his sharp eyesight, he spotted a slender figure standing in the shadows.

He put down his coffee cup and walked toward her.

A servant was watering the flowers. For some reason—whether it was water pressure or something else—the hose suddenly malfunctioned, and the thin stream turned into a strong spray.

Wen Yao was standing in an inconspicuous shadow, and the servant didn’t notice her. Water splashed onto her, startling her and causing her to step back several paces.

The servant only realized someone was there after hearing the commotion and quickly moved the hose away.

By the time Wen Yao dodged it, she was already soaked, with water dripping from her hair.

It was summer, and although the weather was hot, being soaked didn’t make her cold—just uncomfortable as her clothes clung to her skin.

Seeing this, Xing Yu strode over. The lighting here was dim, and he could only make out that she was wearing a white chiffon blouse.

“Are you alright?”

Wen Yao shook her head. “I’m fine, just my clothes are wet.”

“Come inside and get a towel to dry off.”

Wen Yao hesitated for a moment, then nodded. “Thank you, President Xing.”

Xing Yu led Wen Yao into the villa.

Wen Xin and Xu Ziyang were playing so wildly that they didn’t notice her arrival.

Inside the villa, the lights were bright.

The air-conditioning was strong, and the moment Wen Yao entered in her soaked clothes, she felt the cold air seeping into her pores, making her suddenly feel a chill.

She followed Xing Yu into the bathroom. The space was larger than the living room she rented, and the lighting was much brighter.

Xing Yu took out a brand-new, sterilized towel from the cabinet. When he turned around to hand it to Wen Yao, he noticed that her chiffon blouse was soaked and clinging to her skin, making her undergarments clearly visible.

She looked slender, but her figure there was not at all thin—full yet well-proportioned, not creating too much contrast with her delicate frame.
