Vice President Liu had no idea which university Wen Yao graduated from, but since she could enter Huasheng, she must have come from a prestigious school.

He was a bit curious—why was President Xing so interested in the educational background of a small employee?

“Seems like it’s C University?”Full novel: Reunited with My Abstinent Boss—Now He Won’t Let Me Go — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

When Xing Yu heard “C University,” he paused. His gaze returned to the bracelet in his hand. After carefully inspecting it, he placed it back into the box.

“This design will be released as a limited edition for the Dragon Boat Festival. Adjust the price according to market conditions and have the publicity department promote it through short web dramas.”

He paused again. “I remember the contract with the female celebrity spokesperson is about to expire?”

“President Xing, the current spokesperson is Dai An’an. Her contract expires at the end of next month,” Vice President Liu replied.

Xing Yu said, “Replace her with another actress. Inform all departments—meeting at 2 PM.”

Wen Qi responded, “Yes, President Xing.”

Vice President Liu hesitated before speaking, “President Xing, wouldn’t it be inappropriate to change the spokesperson so suddenly? We’ve already told Dai An’an’s agent that we would renew the contract.”

Xing Yu asked, “Has the contract been signed?”

Vice President Liu shook his head. “No.”

“Since it hasn’t, why can’t we change it?”

Xing Yu’s question left Vice President Liu speechless.

After leaving the president’s office, Vice President Liu called Dai An’an.

“An’an, I need to tell you something. President Xing wants to replace you as the spokesperson.”

“Why? Didn’t you promise to renew my contract? Were you lying to me?”

“This is President Xing’s decision. There’s nothing I can do. I asked you to come sign the contract earlier, but you didn’t. Now my hands are tied.”

Close to lunchtime, Wen Yao ordered cold medicine through a delivery app.

When she woke up this morning, she felt dizzy and heavy-headed, with a blocked nose.

It was probably because she got soaked last night and then was exposed to cold air.

By the time the medicine arrived, it was just about lunchtime.

To avoid overlapping with Xing Yu’s mealtime, she always waited a bit before going to the cafeteria.

She went to the water station to pour a cup of hot water and took the medicine according to the instructions on the packaging.

By the time she got to the cafeteria, there were hardly any people left.

While getting her meal, Wen Yao reminded the server, “Ma’am, I don’t have much of an appetite today. Please give me less rice.”

“Alright.” The server scooped a smaller portion.

When getting dishes, she also asked for less. She didn’t like wasting food.

She carried her tray to a clean table and sat down. Even though she was very hungry, she had no appetite. But if she didn’t eat, she wouldn’t have the energy.

Wen Yao forced herself to eat a little. Her dizziness worsened, and her head felt so heavy that she could barely lift it.

She propped her hand against her temple, which eased it slightly.

Xing Yu arrived late today due to work. The cafeteria was nearly empty at this hour. After getting his meal, he walked toward a table and caught sight of someone sitting not far away. The long, glossy black hair reminded him of someone—Wen Yao.

He carried his tray over, and the closer he got, the more certain he became that it was her.

“What’s wrong with you?”

Hearing his voice, Wen Yao looked up and froze for a moment. After catching a cold, her reactions had slowed.

She immediately stood up and greeted respectfully, “President Xing.”

After sitting down, Xing Yu placed his tray on the table. Looking up at her face, he noticed an unusual flush and frowned slightly.

“Why is your face a bit red?”

Wen Yao replied, “Just a cold.”

Xing Yu recalled how she had been drenched last night. But it was summer—it shouldn’t have caused a cold.

Maybe her constitution was just too weak.

“I don’t think it’s just a cold.”

Wen Yao didn’t understand what he meant. Did he think she was lying, or something else?

Xing Yu stood up and reached out his hand. Before he could touch her, Wen Yao quickly stepped back.

She looked at him in confusion. “President Xing?”

“Don’t move.” Xing Yu reached out again.

Wen Yao had heard those two words far too many times. Instinctively, her body stiffened.

Xing Yu’s hand touched her forehead. It felt hot. “You’ve got a fever.”

After he withdrew his hand, Wen Yao touched her own forehead in confusion. It really did feel warm.

She had just felt a bit hot earlier and thought the company had turned the air-conditioning too high to save costs.

It never even crossed her mind that she might have a fever.

Xing Yu said, “Eat first. After that, I’ll take you to the hospital.”

“No need to go to the hospital. I can just buy some fever medicine later. Thank you, President Xing.” Wen Yao looked at the barely touched food on her tray. She had no appetite, but couldn’t bear to waste it.

After hesitating for a moment, she sat down and forced herself to eat a little more.

Xing Yu said in a deep voice, “You’re my employee. If you come to work sick and something happens, I, as your boss, will be held responsible.”

Only then did Wen Yao realize he was worried about her causing trouble at work and affecting the company.

“I’ll go to the hospital myself later. There’s no need to trouble you, President Xing.”

Xing Yu: “…”

From Wen Yao’s mouth, the word he heard most often was “no.”

“I’ve said it before. Don’t make me repeat myself.”

Wen Yao lowered her gaze. Five years had passed, yet Xing Yu’s domineering and forceful nature hadn’t changed at all.

Anyone who didn’t know better would think she wasn’t his employee, but a soldier under his command—expected only to obey orders, never to question or defy them.

She ate silently, the food tasting like wax.

In the end, despite not wanting to waste it, she still threw it into the trash.

The black Cayenne drove steadily, the air-conditioning inside blasting cold air.

Wen Yao was wearing a short-sleeved T-shirt. The cold made the hairs on her arms stand up. She subconsciously hunched her shoulders, rubbing her arms as goosebumps formed.

From the corner of his eye, Xing Yu noticed her movement. He tilted his head slightly to look at her, then withdrew his gaze.

“Turn the temperature up.”

“Yes, President Xing,” the driver replied, raising the temperature by three degrees.

Wen Yao was a little surprised. She glanced at Xing Yu—he maintained the same posture as when he got in the car, not looking at her the entire time.

After a while, the temperature inside the car rose.

Wen Yao didn’t feel as cold anymore, but sitting in the same car as Xing Yu still made her nervous.

When they finally arrived at the hospital, Wen Yao went to queue for registration. At this hour, there weren’t many people.

Xing Yu reminded her, “Keep the registration and prescription receipts. You can reimburse them with finance later.”

Wen Yao felt like he was making things difficult for her. “President Xing, finance won’t reimburse these.”

Xing Yu paused. “I’ll sign for it.”

Wen Yao: “…”

The only fortunate thing was that Xing Yu wasn’t beside her when she registered. She took out her ID card to complete the process.

Xing Yu took out his phone and called a friend. “I’m here.”

After hanging up, he went straight to the doctor’s office.

As Xing Yu walked in, Huo Yunzhen teased, “You’re in such good health—didn’t expect you to get sick too.”

“Not me.” Xing Yu pulled out a chair and sat down, then looked at his friend. “Prescribe me something to reduce internal heat.”

“You’ve got internal heat?” Huo Yunzhen stared at him for a while. “You don’t look like it.”

“…,” Xing Yu said, “Then give me something to suppress desire.”

Huo Yunzhen couldn’t hold back his laughter. “Xing Yu, you’ve got to be kidding. Everyone knows how strong your self-control is. I remember five years ago, a beauty practically stripped naked to seduce you and you didn’t react at all. Do you really need that kind of medicine?”

Xing Yu fell silent for a moment. “Lately, I’ve been reacting to my employee. Isn’t that excessive internal heat?”

After a few seconds of silence, Huo Yunzhen burst into even louder laughter. “Xing Yu, let me ask you—have you touched a woman in the past five years?”

Xing Yu: “…No.”

“You’ve gone five years without touching a woman and managed just fine, but now you’re reacting to your employee?” Huo Yunzhen clearly didn’t believe him.

Xing Yu: “…”

No one believes the truth when he tells it?
