His eyes darkened.
“City Q?”
“Yes, Boss. After hacking into the surveillance cameras at the border, I managed to get a clip showing their last location before they reached City Q. They were in a nearby suburb. After making the necessary arrangements, they all headed to the airport.”
There was a brief pause.
“The airport only has flights to City Q.”
Back at school…
Kang Ji-won rested her chin on her palm, staring blankly at the teacher.
Gosh!
This is torture.
She had survived college.
She had survived adulthood.
She had survived whatever the hell had happened to her before waking up in this strange world.
And now, she was sitting in a classroom again.
Why did my second chance come with homework?
She sighed quietly.
Shen Huiling, who was sitting beside her, glanced at her again—for what felt like the hundredth time.
She opened her mouth, then hesitated.
She didn’t know what it was, but Kang Ji-won seemed different today.
She looked more confident than usual, and there was something about her expression that made Huiling feel strangely worried.
“Are you okay?” she finally asked.
Ji-won immediately straightened.
“I’m fine.”
“You’ve been sighing for the past five minutes.”
Kang Ji-won shifted in her seat.
“I-I’m just appreciating the beauty of education.”
“…What?”
Shen Huiling stared at her in disbelief.
She certainly didn’t know when Kang Ji-won had started appreciating the beauty of education.
“You know what? Just forget I said anything.”
Ji-won turned her attention back to the board.
Well, I might as well live with whatever I’m given.
She unzipped her school bag and pulled out her textbook.
Again.
With another quiet sigh, she opened the book and forced herself to start reading.
But the moment her eyes landed on the first paragraph, something strange happened.
Every piece of information was absorbed into her mind almost instantly.
Wow!
That was fast!
She turned the page.
Then another.
And another.
She didn’t need to read anything twice.
Everything she saw simply stayed in her memory.
A small smile tugged at her lips.
“Sweet!”
The word escaped her mouth louder than she intended.
The entire class turned toward her.
Even the teacher, Yoon Soo-ah, stopped what she was doing.
Yoon Soo-ah frowned and pinched the bridge of her nose.
“Kang Ji-won, come up here.”
But Ji-won didn’t seem to hear her.
She was too busy reading.
Yoon Soo-ah slammed her book onto the desk.
“Kang Ji-won!”
The loud bang finally made Ji-won flinch.
She looked up, blinking in confusion as she realized everyone was staring at her.
What did I do?
Seeing her confused expression, Shen Huiling quickly pinched her thigh under the table.
“You’re in big trouble, Kang Ji-won,” she whispered.
Ji-won’s eyes widened.
I’m in trouble?
Before she could even process that, a marker was shoved into her hand.
“Solve the equation on the board. Right now.”
Ji-won looked up.
Yoon Soo-ah was standing in front of her with an expression that could probably scare a ghost.
She took the marker and walked toward the board.
To her surprise, the question written there was exactly what she had just studied in her textbook.
A faint smirk crossed her lips.
Well, this is convenient.
She began solving the equation.
The more she wrote, the wider everyone’s eyes became.
Their first thought wasn’t whether her answer was correct.
It was the fact that she actually had something to write.
By the time she finished, the students who understood the answer were already scribbling it down, while the others exchanged confused whispers.
Yoon Soo-ah stared at the board in shock.
Kang Ji-won handed the marker back to her with a satisfied smile.
“I’m done, ma’am. Feel free to check if it’s correct.”
Without waiting for a response, she walked back toward her seat.
As she passed Lin Li, she gave her a smug little smile.
Lin Li’s expression immediately fell.
She had been watching the entire scene with growing irritation.
She had always been the girl who received the most attention in class because she was one of the brightest students.
But now, everyone was looking at Kang Ji-won.
And that made her uncomfortable.
More than that, it made her anxious.
She was beginning to see Kang Ji-won as a real obstacle.
With a scoff, she folded her arms.
“What a simple question. She doesn’t need to act so arrogant about it. Who knows if she just memorized it?”
Some students who heard her agreed, while others remained silent.
Yoon Soo-ah finally snapped out of her shock.
She cleared her throat before looking at the board again.
“That’s wonderful, Kang Ji-won. You did very well.”
The class erupted into applause.
After stepping off the plane, the young man followed the other passengers toward the baggage claim area.
He collected his luggage and headed toward the arrivals hall with hurried steps, his expression remained cold and unreadable.
Near the exit, a group of five men were already waiting for him.
