“What?” Kang Ji-won asked.
Somehow, deep down, she felt weird about the way his nose flared as he hurried toward her.
“Why didn’t you pick up my calls? I’ve been trying to get to you for ages,” he said, pulling her out of the cafeteria and into a secluded corner.
Kang Ji-won raised an eyebrow.
Calls?
“I didn’t see any of your calls. I was… busy.” She decided to use the same excuse she’d given Shen Huiling.
The grip on her arm tightened.
“How many times have I told you that no matter what you’re doing, you must pick up my calls? Do you want me to break up with you?”
Kang Ji-won’s eyes widened for a moment before narrowing as realization dawned on her.
Hmph.
Han Yufan.
You really made my goal easier.
You came to find me yourself.
With a quick movement, she yanked her arm out of his grip.
She rubbed the spot he’d been holding before giving him a smirk.
“But why should I even listen to you? Because you’re my boyfriend? Fine. Break up with me!” she snapped.
“You…”
Han Yufan stared at her in disbelief.
Kang Ji-won would never speak to him like that.
Something was definitely wrong.
“How dare you speak to me like that, Kang Ji-won! You’re really not afraid of me breaking up with you?”
Hearing that, Kang Ji-won nearly burst out laughing.
Who does he think he is?
God?
“Please, go ahead. Even if you resist, I will.”
Han Yufan’s eyes widened.
The Kang Ji-won who had loved him like crazy and silently followed him around was now asking him to break up with her?
It hurt his ego more than anything.
But then again, he had nothing to lose.
He already had someone else behind her back.
Someone richer, even if not more beautiful.
“Fine. If that’s what you want, then let’s break up!”
He wanted to see how long she’d keep pretending not to care.
Maybe she’d come running back to him before the end of the day.
“But remember this. Even if you come back begging me, I won’t ever take you back.”
Kang Ji-won scoffed.
“Whatever.”
Just as she took a step forward, she heard loud clapping behind her.
Clap.
Clap.
Clap.
She turned swiftly.
She wore the same school uniform as them, her medium-length curly hair bouncing slightly with each step.
Her big almond-shaped eyes and full lips gave her a striking appearance, but it was her strong aura that caught Ji-won’s attention.
“Bravo. Bravo.” The girl grinned.
“I’m really proud of you, Kang Ji-won. Your eyes finally opened for real.”
She walked toward them with the confidence of someone who didn’t care who was standing in her way.
Tang Aining?
She actually fits the stereotypical image I had of her.
Ji-won shrugged.
“I guess.”
Tang Aining patted her shoulder.
“It was about time. He was a scumbag, after all.”
“You…”
Han Yufan’s face fell.
He couldn’t believe she had just insulted him right in front of Kang Ji-won.
But he knew better than to fight back.
He’d heard the rumors about Tang Aining’s fighting skills.
Apparently, anyone who annoyed her could end up regretting it, yet she’d never received a suspension or expulsion.
Students said it was because of her family’s influence.
Tang Aining glanced at him.
“Why are you still standing here? Shoo.”
Han Yufan’s expression darkened.
But in the end, he could only lower his head and walk away.
With his tail between his legs.
Hmm…
Maybe becoming friends with Tang Aining isn’t such a bad idea.
She’s totally my type…
“You didn’t need to chase him away,” Ji-won said.
Tang Aining raised an eyebrow.
“Don’t tell me you’re regretting it already?”
Kang Ji-won grunted.
“That’s not what I meant. I meant you shouldn’t have done that because I wanted to do it myself.”
Tang Aining’s eyes narrowed before she broke into a wide smile.
“That’s more like it. I like this sudden version of you much better than the old quiet one.”
Ji-won shrugged.
“Well, I guess every girl meets a scumbag when she’s young and dumb. But when she finally understands, things change.”
Tang Aining’s classroom was the advanced class.
Surprisingly, despite being a typical absentee, she was extremely intelligent.
Kang Ji-won, on the other hand, was in the fourth class—the lowest class in the school.
The original Kang Ji-won hadn’t been particularly good at studying anyways.
The moment Ji-won walked into her classroom, her eyes landed on someone she had expected to see…
Yet somehow hadn’t expected to meet so soon.
Lin Li.
Jiwon gave her a knowing smirk.
Lin Li’s fingers curled into a tight fist.
But she stopped herself.
After what had happened recently, she couldn’t ignore how quickly Kang Ji-won had changed.
And honestly…
It scared her.
She snorted arrogantly before looking away.
Kang Ji-won simply shook her head and ignored her, walking over to take her seat beside Shen Huiling.
“Why did you take so long?” Huiling asked worriedly.
Ji-won hesitated.
Should I tell her what happened?
But she quickly decided against it.
She might not even know about Han Yufan’s relationship with…
me.
I don’t want to waste time explaining something I don’t even fully understand.
“Something came up and delayed me.”
Shen Huiling sighed in relief.
“That’s good.”
Not long after, the head teacher entered the classroom.
And class finally began.
Meanwhile…
A young man sat alone in a dimly lit room, his fingers moving rapidly across the keyboard.
Tap.
Tap.
Tap.
He typed the final line before pressing Enter.
Taking a deep breath, he finally leaned back in his chair.
He closed his eyes.
A few minutes later, his phone rang.
“Fuck!”
He reluctantly opened his eyes and reached for the phone.
The moment he saw the name flashing across the screen, his expression changed.
He immediately answered.
“Hello, S.”
“Hello, Boss. I saw the information you sent. The results are out.”
The young man’s eyes sharpened.
“Check your email.”
There was a brief pause.
“As for the criminals’ location…”
The voice on the other end turned serious.
“It’s City Q.”
